  • Does this have Carplay/Android Auto?

    • I don't think so. It doesn't say so in the description plus the price suggests Android Auto and/or Apple CarPlay is/are absent.

    • No.

  • Is there a reason so many stores are doing this at a similar price?

  • Personal experience with Pioneer is they don't seem to offer any maps, firmware updates or general support for their units much after release.

I eventually convinced them to send me an update, which arrived in the mail on an SD card with instructions to return it, i appreciated it, but no comparison for having firmware and support posted on their web site.

Was a big enough issue with the unit i got in a used car i bought to get a Kenwood replacement.
Not worth negging about, but might be something people might want to know.

    • which arrived in the mail on an SD card

How odd. They couldn't just send you link online to download?

      • +1

        Exactly my point.
They generally don't seem to want to list their firmware updates online (on the AU site anyway?).
Took some convincing for them to offer to mail it, i thought it was a stupid idea, but better than nothing.

In this day and age of relatively cheap electronics the turnover of models and lack of support is a real concern.
Would be nice to see them support each model with 5 years worth of updates and new features, but most manufacturers nominate not to further innovate on a released product, not ideal but tolerable, whats worse though is they will rarely fix bugs too.

They have a very limited selection of firmware available here, but each drop down seems to just say "No SI Sheets Product"

When researching the replacement the the Pioneer i had issues with it was good to see Kenwood seem to have their finger on the pulse with updates…
