I had a look at the tab 4 and tbh I see very little difference between the p8 and the tab 4 plus/Pro (can't remember it's correct name) but 1920x1200 and snapdragon 625 processor in both from memory.
The tab 4 they bring into AU is the lower resolution one from what I've seen online

Only issue I had was an aliexpress seller for the screen protector sent me wrong one but that's not related to the tablet.
I'm hoping there will be a LineageOS release at some stage for it given its got SD625 on it so Oreo 8.1 would be hopeful but not really issue for what I use them for

My main tablet is the Zenpad 3S 500M. Twice the price and 2 A72 cores so definitely faster but the p8 is a much nicer weight and size for lying on the couch.
If you can get a comparable Asus for that price I'd go for it.

anyone got problem with the purchase? i got access denied from gearbest website after trying to pay it with paypal.
had the same thing happening! and when i tried again the code didn't work anymore. then i saw in my emails a confirmation from gearbest so the order did go through! have a look in your gearbest account under "orders', there might be your order pending with something like "payment required" . i was able to click through to paypal from there. good luck. sounds like a great little tablet for my kids

i already got a tablet that i don't use at all. this is just like blown up smartphone. ill give it a pass. nice deal anyway.

Good point. Are those people with a 6" phone really going to pick up a 8" tablet regularly? Just a bit nicer for watching movies/TV shows on - especially on a flight.

any know if Google family link works with this because it isn't meant to work with Android 6 devices but i have got it to work on a Nexus 7 via update the device with a normal account then adding the kids account after just need to get the google play services updated.

Given the price, disposable nature of tech and aggravation caused by poor performing devices I think the choice is obvious.
A valid way of looking at things, but the performance of the 425 and 2GB ram is still pretty decent, that's what puts things in a different light.
Also the usage is just casual gaming, watching videos and some communicating. Should be enough.

Anyone else have issues with their P8? Got one in the last deal and it resets randomly, wifi drops out etc. Have just sent it back to Gearbest for repair…. Hoping they just exchange it for a new one.
Any update on this? I bought a blue one 4g version and a case. Submitted a ticket and got a replied saying that it's in stock and will be sent out soon. That's last week. Anyone got any email from them yet?

I bought the 4 g version from hk warehouse at the same time and supposedly they shipped on the 9th. Nothing comes up when I use the tracking number. Submitted a ticket and was told to wait another 3-5days for tracking to update lol. Wtf as if I'm gonna beleive it takes 10 days for tracking status to update. It's supposed to be delivered in 5-10days lol

Would've preferred to have the item shipped right away but this is the first order out of 40 that I've had this happen at least.
Yeah… stock seems to be slow shipping from hk warehouse. It takes a week or two for it to come from mainland china then they send it.

Tracking number does not work, submitted a ticket only to get the same tracking number, tracking link again, and told to wait for it to come up. 2 weeks now and still no tracking update on a 5-10 business days express shipping. Bad start for a 1st time GearBest customer/order.

Received a msg today advising the Item has been despatched. That would take another 1 month + to get here…
No update on tracking here either. Messaged gearbest a few times now and have not received a response, there's still probably trying to play catch up after the new year holidays in replying would be my optimistic reason. But most likely they have no idea either!
Finally received a reply from gearbest,again totally avoided my question asking if they can see anything with my tracking number. They just said to check with my post office lol. I have received a notice on my auspost app that an item from sanheshun electronics technology is on its way. Anyone else receive this or is this another random ozbargain item I must have purchased.
I didn't buy the P8, but my local post office recently lost a package I'd ordered from China. It might be worth giving Australia Post call centre a ring and having them verify the exact location as they may be able to tell you more than the app does.
Yeah I'll eventually have to go down that path but I doubt that's the reason as it appears in not the only one having this issue. Also they are unable to provide me with any tracking details and keep requesting I wait until the system updates. The latest reply is the worst yet, I asked them to answer specifically only my question nothing else. I asked what they were doing about my situation whilst I wait until the 12th for their supposed system to update with tracking details and how a computer system could possibly take almost a month to update. Must I remind them they're actually not in kings landing, and it's really not necessary to get the grand maester to send a raven out to try locate my item. It's all done electronically now, the ravens had their wings clipped and burnt alive in the sewers beneath the red keep a long long time ago.

Don't buy from Gearbest! Your first time will be your last. Trust the thousands of unhappy reviewers online. If you're patient stil avoid these guys, they are fraudulent in all of their business practices.
Those who paid via paypal, if you raise a dispute Gearbest will give you the exact auto response without answering the question or issue.

Order on Feb 5th and still waiting as well. Was mailed out on Feb 9th supposedley, but tracking doesnt work either. I opened a case with paypal and gearbest didnt really answer the question at all, just said to wait a few more days.
Mine finally updated to Shipment Info Confirmed and then Flight Dispatch yesterday, so they should be on the way now (from HK warehouse at least).
just checked and mine is now the same. looks like they have only just started to process things and send out stuff, rather than 3 weeks ago when it supposedly originally shipped. Very annoying.

Well the shipping is fast to be fair, mine's in Aus already, they just have to actually ship it out in the first place. This is the only time they've taken this long to ship out for me, any other time has been right away.

@jlogic: It may end up being sent to SYD before being handed off to AusPost according to this at least but the customs scans probably default to wherever the paperwork is processed as usually with these services the shipments are pre-cleared and there's no actual customs inspection and clearance, just paperwork. Kind of like how with AusPost the "shipment information received" scan is always in Chullora regardless of where it's sent from.
I haven't received a package by this exact method before so I don't know if it may actually be handed over to AusPost at Coolangatta or not. Usually I buy from the CN warehouse and it's sent with UBI and lands in SYD, but this is through someone else.
@ethan961: If it is in Sydney it will be delivered on Monday or Tuesday. The tracking won't show on Auspost website just keep checking the linked tracking you were provided with, when it says 'Your parcel is at the delivery depot ready for delivery in the next available cycle' it will be delivered the next day. The next day, tracking will say 'onboard - your parcel is ready for delivery' and you will get it that day, also it wasn't delivered by my regular Auspost courier it was delivered by someone else.
