    Scoot… Enough said.

  • Not cheap once adding luggage and meal, also with extra time wasted in transit. Qantas sale is around $550 full service and direct flight is so much better than this.

Even with limited availability. No deal with budget airlines.

For <$100 more for flights from Mel-HKG on full service Qantas airlines, why should you waste your time and getting stranded and tired from the transit, no luggage, no meal and in fact have to spend money to buy food/drinks during transit in Singapore?!? I see no reason to fly with budget airlines at all.

Firstly, $550 flights are very limited. You can't just choose dates on book you need to identify possible dates that are available at that price. Second, not everyone needs bags.

This is a cheap fare and you can visit Singapore for free which is a plus for some.

Downvoted your comment samehada. Paying a 70% premium might work out best for you, but not everyone is you. Ozbargain is about sourcing bargains and for some people this will give them an opportunity for travel they mightn't otherwise be able to afford. Carry-on luggage is a viable option depending on duration of stay. Meals etc are a quality of life thing and the savvy traveler will arrange other solutions.

By all means express an opinion but downvoting a deal simply because it's not optimised for yourself is pretty distasteful.

Bring sandwiches and (if they have a no own food on board policy) eat them in the toilet (after washing your hands, of course!) 😃

Disregarding all the food and luggage comments, I feel everyone needs to understand that cheaper prices with budget airlines also translates to a higher risk of delays and cancellations simply because budget airines run to a tighter schedule, and many do not have inter airline agreements to put you on other airlines in case of delay.
