  • DHL tried to deliver this afternoon without anyone calling me beforehand. Strangely enough I was not home. Good to see Sony is following what they say on the website about calling before delivery. Pretty pathetic service.

    • What city are you in WhistlerSteve?

      • I'm in Canberra. This morning the courier company called asking if they could deliver in 10 minutes. I couldn't do that as I was at work at the other end of town.

Not what Sony says they do on the product page.

        • I think the issue lies at the DHL end. They cut their costs by organising as many deliveries as possible on the same day. Mine was delivered at 6:30 yesterday after agreeing to a time zone of 2-5PM and waiting all afternoon. The two delivery guys had done 8 deliveries all around Melbourne and were held up in peak traffic. They were very apologetic and did keep me informed of their lateness. My copy of the Delivery slip did say "Call 30 min before arrival" as had I requested on the Sony order page. I'm sure they did their best to deliver on time, traffic is a pain around Melbourne after 3PM. There is a limit to how may TVs you can deliver on time in one day, unless they are all in the same area. I'm sure DHL know that! I can't complain because delivery and placement on my lounge floor was free. The experience is very similar to my recent purchase of a Dell monitor that was over a week in transit from Sydney after Dell took 3 days to process the order (despite taking my money instantly!)
I must say that it pays to watch one of the many unboxing videos to supplement the already clear instruction documents. Unboxing and assembly was fun to do. I have spent many hours playing with the remote and watching a variety of things - TV, Stan, Youtube 4K videos, etc. and so far, I'm extremely happy with my purchase!

  • So, I was almost set on buying a KD55X9300E, until last night impulse buying a refurbished/seconds KD65X9300D during the 10% off eBay sale (ended up at $1845 delivered).

Questioning my decision now. Anyone know the differences between the D and E versions? As far as I can tell, the E loses 3D (don't care) and has a better processor. Anything else major?

Also worried how non-HD content will look on the 65" at 3m. Coming from 42".

    • I bought the KD65X9300E last night for $1,926.99. Didn't realise it lost the 3D however have a 55" KDX55X8500C with it. We don't use the 3D much so at least kids can still watch any of the 3D content we have. The reason I bought this one is a TCL failed in the kids room last week, was purchased in December 2014 and had 3 year warranty! so I pull the KDX55X8500C in the kids room.

A difference I know is the E has the extreme 1 processor, you can read some more details on differences in this article. I have seen a small amount of people whinge about Sony's service and refurbished products however I personally have found Sony to be really easy to deal with and they have responded promptly to a number of questions I asked through the ebay store.

      • Thanks. Can I ask where you got yours for that price? I'd prefer the E for that difference, or even a little more.

Also, did you mean to post a link?

        • Sorry I had posted in the Sony 10% ebay post and it was also a refurbished model. I had posted just after 6pm last night and there was 7 of the KD65X9300E left after I purchased.

  • Has anybody got the tracking number but the status stays 'created'? I called DHL this morning and they said they never even received the item for shipment and it's been 3 days after it was 'shipped'. Called Sony and the customer service guy was extremely rude and unhelpful, but it was escalated to someone at least.

    • just an FYI for people buying stuff from Sony in the future. They basically 'forgot' to ship my TV. It was just sitting in the warehouse until yesterday when I told them that I would want a refund unless the TV could get here by today. It was then finally picked up by DHL yesterday afternoon. If any of you guys get a tracking number and the tracking info says 'created', that means they haven't sent it! Give them a call or send them an email after probably one day or so to chase it up. Otherwise, you would be waiting forever.

      • +1

pretty much what happen to me when i bought a PS4 from them during christmas. Got sick of chasing them for the item, so asked them for a refund. They were extremely shady and kept delaying the refund process. So had to lodge a paypal dispute to finally get my money. 1/10 customer service
