  • You can't say "$627.30 after HN vouchers". Price is $697.

    • Is it a good laptop for the price?

The hardware (16GB RAM, 256GB SSD) itself is probably good value for the price but the processor would most likely not be able to take advantage of the 16GB RAM. You would be better off trying to find a more balanced build (256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, but better CPU like an AMD A8 or Core i3/i5) at this price point.

Solid example of a more balanced build for the price Acer Aspire 5 - Core i5 7th gen, 12GB RAM, 1TB HDD (swap for SSD if possible) $645.

        • the processor would most likely not be able to take advantage of the 16GB RAM.

          Oh? Why not?

        • The Acer got lots of negative comments too.

At this price point you need to compromise on things but people don't seem to realise you are getting what you pay for

        • @Gershom: What they are trying to say is that the processor will give out before the memory does. 16GB of ram is a lot, but the processor is relatively slow so it won't be able to utilise the 16GB.

        • @pennypincher98: Thanks, I have a budget of ~1,000 but thought since it was reduced I'd take a look.

@coco91: if you have a budget of $1000, don't buy something from Harvey Norman.. 9 times out of 10 you can get it much cheaper elsewhere, unless you go at the end of the month and are great at negotiating

    • My bad. Someone fixed it while I was looking after the Saab factory Pennypacker

Please. Do yourself a favour and not get a 1366x768 resolution on a 15.6" screen. Why laptops still haven't changed in 5 years is astounding.

  • I am always suspicious of AMD processors. They heat up fast and crash. Better to go for Intel i5 at this price point.
