    Ha.

    • Too legit.

Not a bargain. This is normal to expensive pricing for a no name ISP. And this is only for the first 6 months.

There are probably 100 ISP's in your area, use https://www.nbnco.com.au to have a look.

    $59 a month - http://www.barefoottelecom.com.au/plan-type/nbn-plans/crb_pl…

    $55 a month - https://buzztelco.com.au/nbn-plans/

    And so on.

Without a real track record of some kind of CVC guarantee, every no name ISP is identical until you find out otherwise.

    • +3

RSPs selling unlimited plans will not give a CVC guarantee because they are all purchasing insufficient CVC to provide unlimited plans with a congestion free experience. There may be exceptions for specific PoIs but in general the rule holds.

Barefoot and Mates are the same company too.

Have been with Mate in the past. Horrible international congestion.

    Mate. Communicate.
Such an ironic name for such an uncommunicative business. Didn't even see out the first month.

    • what happened?

      • +4

In a nutshell: they took my money and ran basically. It was a whole massive headache and major ordeal, but managed to get my money back.
PS - they incentivise reviews, so that's why they look to have a high rating.

        • LOL, i upvoted because they seem well regarded? 4.4/5 on Product Review!! i guess i'll stick with TPG.

        • +3

@Savas: Yeah TPG, as much as I absolutely HATE them, I can tolerate them because they don't try and hide behind false truths. They try to help me, but that normally just involves shipping out a new modem.
The customer service with MateCommunicate is non-existent. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a couple of teenagers working out of their mum's garage.

  • wth, it says I upvoted this. How do I remove my upvote?

Go to the votes tab, just below the deals title next to 'revisions' - then select revoke next to "You voted +1 on this deal"
      Happy to help :)

  • I was with mate for a few months but night time speeds were super slow. I quickly changed to a different provider.

  • It’s not even a decent deal anyway, they are just passing on the NBN Co wholesale price drop of 50/20 plans to the same price as 25/5 plans (NBN Co is trying to incentivize RSPs from pushing the slow 25/5 plans). Many other RSPs have started to offer their old 25/5 plan price points with 50/20 speeds now since the price drop by NBN Co.

It's 2018 and we still can't provide unlimited internet properly :(

I haven't used them personally but also found lots of positive reviews online. Yes it's a stupid name…agreed.

Put my son onto them and he was up and running in no time. Great communication right from the start and hassle free. I haven't asked how good his speeds are but he would be ringing me and complaining if it was crap hahaha.

I use this company for my connection. Haven't had any issues since joining them. I use my own modem though.

I've been pretty happy with mate for the last 12 months. Bit of evening slow down but manageable. Always been helpful when I have needed them and allow me to use my own equipment with minor support.
