      I've already got 2 monitors hooked up to the onboard graphics ports on my mid-spec office PC, could this be used to run a 3rd monitor so I can spread docs over 3 screens?

        I am using a lenovo usb-c to displayport + usb-a hub. I have connected one monitor with displayport and one to usb-a using this device over hdmi, and then the internal laptop display.

          Would this work on a TV by any chance? I have a LG TV with broken HDMI ports so cant plug in media devices (e.g. Chromecast).
          However the USB port works fine. I am wondering if this device would allow media devices to be plugged in my TV.

          I am assuming it does not support audio, in that case can I use this device to at least connect my PC to TV and use it monitor via TV's USB port?

            @greentoad: This adapter uses DisplayLink and requires driver installation, so it only works with a pc (usb) to monitor/tv (hdmi). It doesn't work with hdmi to usb.

      Is this an upscaler?
      Judging from the description where it says:

      Quickly and easily display in Ultra HD from your laptop to a 4K monitor, TV or projector without the need for a 4K graphics card

      I would assume this thing upscales low res content (720p/ 1080p signals) to 4k.
      Otherwise even $16 it's kind of frivolous, since you can already output 4K signals to a monitor/ TV with a normal HDMI cable even with low tier hardware. That is you can already watch 4K netflix for example on a monitor/ TV from your low tier laptop using a standard HDMI cable.

      Feel free to correct and inform me if I'm wrong in any way

        4k is not the sell here imho. I had a monitor connected to hdmi port of laptop and needed a way to connect a 2nd monitor and this would do it via USB-A. I also have a surface pro which only has mini display, so i can use it there. Depends on use case. Great value and use for me.

        Yes, you (kkkkkat) have misunderstood what the product is. It basically converts a USB 3.0 (or 2.0) port on your computer/laptop into a HDMI port to connect to another monitor up to 4K at 30Hz

      Great deal. Had trouble connecting my usb c - hdmi adapter with my usb-c port. The port has the 'SS' symbol not the 'D'. Hopefully this hub works which would save me returning a new laptop.

        I did a test at displayhz.com with my 100Hz monitor at FHD and it was showing a 100Hz on the test but was giving a VSYNC error. So I am not sure how it will work for gaming. The comments are mixed (and some just speculative).

      Since everyone is wondering, this is actually as external GPU for adding another video output to a computer which may not have the amount or type of video outputs you need.

          Turned out to be new condition but scanned as $23 in store. Make sure you don't pay online and do it instore!

      Just to share. Regular office work seems fine and playing HD video at 30fps is fine too. But trying to play 1440p@60 on a video with lot of movement tends to be too much for this and it disconnects-reconnects. 1080p@60 seemed ok.

        Yes, but you need to install and run the displaylink app before MacOS recognise the display.

      Cheers there are some sour people on here. OP is kind enough to post a killer deal and six members of ozbargain are quick enough to snap it up. Sucks for the rest but good on them for posting it in the first place.

          We did have it on previously at a still good price , yes was set up properly , this was the remainder to clear out at a walk out price …
          We haven't oversold as i made it quite clear at the start …
          The numbers i put out who missed out, were exactly that, which were showing in our system …
          The ones on back-order where the funds were held/taken have been reversed as i stated …

      my order just showed up as "on hold" on my account but clicking through shows it's on backorder even though dispatch date is showing as 22/12/2020…

      still no emails and no acknowledgement from OP that anyone that ordered from their Brisbane store will be getting the kit or full refunds as he/she repeatedly said only "8 people in sydney and dandenong" missed out after 2904 clicks…
