It's that time of the year again. When the 75" Hisense TV prices gets better and better and I need to try very hard to resist buying it…

  • must… resist…

  • Simple, simple question - Is this TV good for watching movies?

    • +2

      yes

    • +3

Yes, it is but you will have to manually tune the settings first. The display colours out of the box aren't optimal and everything appears too red.

PS: From my experience, my suggestion is that if you have this much to spend then go with Sony 65X90 instead of this. I know you will lose real estate but Sony is a better TV.

      • got some recommended settings to help us out?

        • @ozioziozi: Thats the 65m7000 series. And "Nobblers" settings were calibrated with a UK firmware on a 55m7000 so it doesnt work the best for this model.
Best bet is set the TV to cinema and adjust the backlight first then tweak the brightness and contrast.
If the reds are too red, lower the saturation of red.
Everyone has different lighting so theres no real universal settings to use.

Don't tell people to get a smaller tv in a 75" thread. There is a reason they want the biggest. It is kind of like tell someone who is buying a 4WD to just buy a sedan.

        • -8

Had too many grumpy pills today? You can skip my comment if you don't like it ! Nothing wrong in sharing "my" opinion.

        • +1

A tv can never be too big. 75” wouldn’t even meet the minimum viewing distance for THX spec for even an average sized living room.

    • It is, but 4k contents are hard to find. Bluray 4k are expensive. The cheapest way is netflix, however that needs a fast internet connection.

  • tempting…wish it were 20% discount!

    • +2

And if it was you'd be wishing for 25/30%.

thanks..pulled the trigger and bought one. good reviews about them.

    • i envy u

    • Good reviews that are supposedly unbiased when it came out last year.. and many happy users.. but mixed with a lot of complaints as well in the WP thread
      https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2608487&…

Many (but not all) of the issues were resolved with a recent firmware update, so once you apply the latest firmware you should have a better experience than those who bought 3-6 months ago.

A few of the people in that thread returned the sets after a few months, for full refunds to either go for other brands like Sony, or to OLED.

  • Ahh February, the 1 year anniversary of buying my 75" Hisense last year for $2495.

A year on still really happy with it and will do until OLED's become a bit more affordable in the larger sizes.

Time of year to buy TV's!

    • you lost 20 dollars' vaule for one yr.

      • +1

        Gained?

        • +1

Definitely gained. Was it the N7 as well? How did I miss that deal?

I guess like how I miss every other deal… being at work!

        • @zenex2:
          my bad, he gained.

        • @zenex2:

No was the previous M7000 lineup. After 3 Sony TV's back to back and a Sony snob previously I have to admit value for money and performance is great.

Just remember not the best interface, but if using with a media player that won't be as problem.

Edit: the only negative with it is the edge lit display, but I knew that. Also lack of updates but as per previous if using it just as a screen won't be an issue really.

Hisense are releasing OLED's this year. Feel free to give me your 75" ULED when you upgrade to OLED :D

  • waiting for 75N9 around this price range….

I have this TV. The software sucks/is pretty buggy. There's a known issue where picture settings don't stick when turning the TV on and off, even though they appear to have stuck. So you literally have to change say the smooth motion settings from off, back to on, and then off again, every single time you use the Netflix app or fire up the Xbox.

I did work around it with a suggestion from the Whirlpool thread - you wander into the service menu and disable fast boot. Now my settings stick, but it takes a while to turn on. Still no firmware updates from Hisense, they've only patched the smaller units.

On the plus side; the picture quality is awesome, the inbuilt Netflix and YouTube apps work really well/support "ChromeCast" functions, and with game mode enabled there isn't that much noticeable input lag.

    • Mine works great. In any case, the firmware update fixes the settings not saving issue.

      • Does the firmware update automatically or does it need to be manually done? Thanks 😊

      • Where did you get the update from? The latest firmware the unit can find itself is version 1.00.

EDIT: OK I see there is a manually distributed update available. I'll install it and give it a go. Dunno why this wouldn't be pushed out OTA.

    • ApplianceCentral is actually Betta Electrical. The tax invoice they email is from Betta. Or we for the Fujitsu aircon I bought.

  • Great price, just bought one. Was also able to get another 5% off by stacking 25 x $100 Ebay gift cards bought from Woolies!

    • How did you get the eBay gift cards and how long did it take to be able to use them?

      • +1

You can get Woolies eGift cards at 5% off here: https://www.cashrewards.com.au/woolworths-gift-cards which get delivered via email within 1-2 days, normally within 1 day in my experience. Then go down to your local Woolies and purchase eBay gift cards at $1 = $1. I had a lot of eBay gift cards left over from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/358207 which ended up saving ~13%

However the comments in this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/358207 it was stated that you can't stack more than 8 codes when checking out in ebay, however I didn't have this issue. So just be aware that this may happen.

Using this method you should always get 5% off eBay plus whatever eBay deal is going on.

And lastly I have received confirmation from The Good Guys that my transaction was successful for the 75N7 purchase, so all is good.

        • I tip my hat to you sir. True OzBargainer. I will do this next time

        • +1

@sonique: Thank you… but you will be disappointed to hear that I forgot to use CashRewards this time for that extra 1% off. Always forget lol

        • Great work, thanks

  • so hard to resist

  • I went to HV to directly compare Sony 65X90 and the 75N7.

Sony (suprisingly) had a bit of judder on paning shots but had an overall better picture. The 75N7 had a bit of a soap opera effect but I there maybe enough control available to manage it. It wasn't that bad out of the box and simply putting the TV in cinema mode helped a lot.

Both TV's had more than acceptable blacks.

After a while the sony seemed a bit too small ;-)

I'll probably fo the 75N7. The salesman did note that in a couple of months they will be pushing out models for the new serieses…

  • I bought the 65 for $1400

  • Caved…. Slightly cheaper here https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/272946041161 $2,484 Delivered

  • What HDR is this TV - 1000nits?

The 75M7000 wasn’t good on 50hz shows I have read, it was all juddery and you had to turn on motion to fix this.

My parents have the 75M7000 and when I watch the NRL on it without motion being on, it’s juddery

Also it had issues with the Xbox one I read somewhere, this fixed ?

  • Dont need another TV but, If this ever gets to $2000 im buying one

  • How does it compare to the Sony x85e 75"?

    • +1

The Hisense has a high contrast VA panel, is back lit and has local dimming, so a much better picture than the Sony. Cheaper too!

      • Thanks appreciate the info

  • Can't seem to add the TV to cart now. Get this error:

"Item(s) in your cart aren't available in the quantity you originally requested. We've updated your shopping cart to reflect the amount that is currently available. Please review these changes before proceeding to checkout."

    Any idea what that means?

    • What do you think it means? Do you think it means they are out of stock? Just read it.

      • Yes I realise that is the way it reads. Then why is the listing still up on ebay if they are completely out of stock Australia wide?

Edit - Appears there is stock in Sydney. I guess they don't deliver to QLD.

        • Did you try using a different browser ?
Sometimes click n collect or delivery options work in 1 browser but not another.. I find it all the time with Good Guys and 1st Choice Liquor if I use Chrome.

  • Had to pass. Here's hoping something better and cheaper comes along ;-)
