1000 Rewards Points (Worth $5) with $50 eBay Gift Card / 2000 Points (Worth $10) with $100 eBay Card @ Woolworths (10 Cards Max)

2770

I believe points will stack with multiple card purchases, but will leave discussion to the experts.

Also appears you can stack these gift cards with eBay promo codes here and here. Enjoy :)

Can you use an ebay coupon code then pay with a gift card?

    • would love to know this aslo

    • +1

      http://www.ebay.com.au/gds/Entering-coupon-codes-and-gift-ca…

Please note only 1 coupon per transaction
You can use as many gift cards as you want

      • But I found this -

“Only eight (8) incentive codes can be accepted per check-out transaction. These codes include eBay Gift Cards and coupons.”

        • So does that mean we can use at most 7 eBay gift cards + 1 coupon code (e.g. AWESOME)? Can't use 8 gift cards + code eh?

        • +1

@mmkardart: according to t&c, YES, that is the limit

        • @OzSikh: I interpreted T&C that way too, thank you for sharing :)

        • +1

          @mmkardart:

As outlined by others later in the thread this doesn't currently look to be imposed as a hard limit. I was able to use 10 giftcards plus a coupon code on a purchase with no issues.

        • @gibspmuh:

music to my ears :) thank you!

      • found this from your link -

“Only eight (8) incentive codes can be accepted per check-out transaction. These codes include eBay Gift Cards and coupons.”

    • +3

      Yes, you can.

Can I use a promotional code when redeeming my gift card?

Yes, an eBay promotional code can also be used when redeeming an eBay gift card, subject to the terms and conditions of the promotion.

      • +2

Just used the 5% off n 4 ebay giftcards, works great!

  • -3

So buying a $100 card effectively costs $90 if you're a regular woolworths shopper because you get $10 off your next purchase?

    • +3

      Sorry go ask mathnerd

    • +8

Yes, that's basically the gist of it.

      • +2

Can't believe mathnerd got it wrong.

        • +1

I wonder how it's wrong? You're effectively getting $10 off a $100 eBay gift card (assuming of course that you shop at Woolies at a future date, which reduces that future transaction by $10, which you can apply to the current GC purchase).

        • +5

No you effectively get $110 worth of value for $100. Not $100 worth of value for $90. You initial outlay is still $100. Also we all know $10 woolworths is not worth $10. Cashrewards giftcards means that it is only actually worth $9.50 for most ozbargainers.

        • +2

          @Red Hippo:

Also we all know $10 woolworths is not worth $10

To be fair this works both ways making your initial outlay $95…

        • +4

          @Marlboro Man:
I'm glad someone's paying attention so. $95 for 109.50 value. So a 13.2% discount if using wish eGift Cards.

        • @Red Hippo:

If you want to go further (ala inception)..

You're going to pay $95 for a $100 gift card that gets you a $10 additional discount (at some point in the future).

So $95 for $110 of value - but wait, if you use that to buy something with a 20% off coupon that was going to cost $125 then you have paid $95 and got $135 worth of value or a total discount of 42% ?

          Mathnerd/Red Hippo ?

        • @Red Hippo: depends,
I split mine into seperate transactions,
          1st $100 ($95 using wishcard)
          2nd $100 -> $90 ($10 off) ($85.50 wishcard) 14.5%
          3rd $100 -> $90 ($10 off) ($85.50 wishcard) 14.5%
          groveries $14.50 -> $4.50 ($10 off)

depends on how you spilt it!

        • @supabrudda:
Of course it changes depending on how many gift cards you buy and how the transactions are split up. The discussion was about buying one gift card :)

  • Limit 10 per customer on eBay gift cards.

    Sounds like they will stack.
    Great deal.

    • Does it say it will stack with each other or discount codes ?

I thought it was only one code per order (gift cards counted as a code too)

      • Sorry, I meant that the Woolworths Rewards points will stack if you buy more than one.
You can use coupon codes with the eBay gift cards as doweyy has mentioned below.

    10 Cards Max

Just walked out then back in and bought another hundred. You will see these on fleebay and scumtree next week! My name will be scotty

    • +1

Just walked out then back in

      way too much effort.
Just do 10 transactions one after the other @ self service.

    • I think the 10 card limit would only refer to earning the bonus woolworths rewards?
Otherwise yes, theres nothing stopping you going back in and buying more.

    • +3

Yes you can, I know of multiple reports where people have used PICK5 with it recently.

      • -2

        Oh cool

        • +1

It was a pretty shit thing to say.

      • +1

Thank you doweyy. Added to OP.

        • Hi Tightarse, Can you please provide advise on how to use these cards? Can I just buy 5 x $100 cards at woolies and they load $550 onto the one card? And then I use the code from that card on ebay?

      • Terms differ from promo code to another. Gift cards did not stack with a previous 20% code.
Looks like some promo codes do allow gift card payments and some do not.

Looks like a good 14.5% + potential. (If you purchase with e-gift cards 18.775%)

        Okok… I'm sold. Good deal

    • +1

I've successfully used PRAWNS, a $100 eBay eGift card, and ~$9 PayPal to pay for a ~$136 transaction on eBay (multiple items, multiple vendors).
      So yes, it definitely works.

  • +5

The fun bit will be whether they work with eWishcards….Netflix & G.Play do, so lets hope so!

In theory it will be effectively up to 20% off (if 5% wishcard + PICK5)

    • +1

      They do.
I successfully purchased a $100 eBay eGift card from Woolies last week, using a WISH eGift card. I used self-serve, but got a bit nervous when the attendant "hung around" to see how I was paying, but somebody else's checkout was beeping so she had to go there, so I quickly chose eGift card, punched in the details and then she returned, at which point the activation receipt was printing :)
I just want them to leave as soon as they approve the initial dialog box (as I'm sure we all do, that's why we all love self-serve)!

      • Are you not allowed to pay using a WISH eGift card?

        • +6

          Technically

From Clause 6.5 of the WISH Gift Card Terms and Conditions:

WISH Gift Cards cannot be used towards the purchase of any Gift Cards sold through
          WISH Gift Card participating stores.

Therefore, if you go to a manned checkout, with an attendant that's a stickler for rules, then no, you can't pay with a WISH eGift Card. If you go to a manned checkout with an attendant that DGAF (typically the teenage ones), then they put it through without hassle.

          Realistically

The system allows payment for Gift Card purchases using WISH eGift Cards. So even though it's against the T&Cs, the system actually allows it, so many of us here on OzB use this to our advantage.

        • @MathNerd:

          Very helpful.

          Thanks!

Do these WISH Gift Cards ever go on sale?

        • @Amaurys:
5% off with Entertainment book membership
Thats the only one I know of. But probably a few other places

        • @Amaurys: Can you enable your PMs or PM me? I'll explain in further detail.

        • +3

@Amaurys: message potm (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/288847) even though it says expired he sells WISH giftcards for 7% off. Highly recommended!

        • +1

@sharkfan12: Heaps of reward programs offer them too. See here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards

        • @Amaurys:
          Always 5% off through cashrewards

        • @MathNerd:

Hi MathNerd - Do these egift cards work in any Woolies store in any state i.e. WA - i am just wondeirng why would their system allow you to pay for only a gift card (ebay) using the egift card if it is against t and cs?

Surely it wouldnt be that hard for them to just update the checkout software to automatically deny you the purchase?

I only ask so I'm not stuck with woolies vouchers that I'm not going to use!

        • @SaberX: They sure do work - I buy multiple physical GCs using my woolies egift cards. The system just hasn't been told to not allow it!

        • @MathNerd:

          Hi. Just enabled it!

        • @MathNerd:

Ok might give cash rewards gift cards a try. Never bough before. Only the entertainment book. Hopefully they issue instantly as ive found the entertainment book take 1 or 2 business days and i forgot to order earlier!

        • @stickyfingers: Delivery time is 1-3 days in that case.

      • +3

Isn't that funny. Last time I stocked up one Netflix cards, doing one cards per transaction, the attendant was just chatting away and i told her what I was doing and she said. Good onya love, gotta save money these days. In hope you're getting those wishcards from that entertainment book, you get 5% off everything!

        • +1

Yeah, you see that's the thing. There's employees at supermarkets that take the job really seriously and follow all rules and regulations to the dot. These are the employees that OzBargainers won't really get along with.
Then there's others that are really lax and don't really care, after all they're still getting paid either way, the same amount.
If I was a supermarket employee, I'd certainly encourage hardcore OzBargaining (short of stealing of course)!

PS Which Melbourne store was this? I find that the ones down my end of town tend to be more stringent on the rules.

      • I know some woolies in Sydney have already baned the self-serve for the gift card, when you scan the barcode of the gift card, the self-serve machine promote that you should go to the man-serve checkout.
Does any one know which woolies in Sydney allowed self-server for gift card?

    • I don't think you're supposed to. So when I purchased 5 x $100 a couple of weeks ago I had to go the smokes desk to complete the purchase. Didn't cause any problems there. But I can imagine there being problems in the future though…

  • +2

Does the giftcard need to be used entirely in one transaction, or can you use it across multiple?

    • Nope

      https://www.ebay.com.au/help/buying/paying-items/vouchers-di…

You don't need to spend the entire gift card amount in one purchase. We'll save any remaining balance against your eBay account for you to spend at another time.

      • That's a very unique interesting t and c

That means you can use $1 of your card
And the balance is set up as a credit on your account

So if you want buy say a 2000 dollar item. To get around the 8 cards Max. You just build your credit balance

        • i'm not sure you get to chose how much to use on you giftcard.
I could be wrong, but I understood it used all the credit at once, unless your total is less then the total on the GC.

        • @supabrudda:

Is there a minimum spend on the gift card?

Could you buy a 1c item

        • @hellohello123: i believe there's no min.
          What's your angle on this?

        • @supabrudda:
          Buy something for 1cent

          99.99 credit.
Do it a few times. Especially handy if youre buying $800 and above items

And possibly the credit has longer expiry

        • +1

          @hellohello123: fair enough!

        • @hellohello123:
The question is… For a new transaction do they first apply your credit on your account first, before allowing you to use another gift card? If so, you can't accumulate credits?

  • +5

Also from the gift card T&Cs

11 . 'you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers.)'

    • +3

Thank you headphonejack5. Added to OP.

    • +6

I can confirm that you can use more than 8 cards, this was a response I received from a user. Protecting their identity just in case.

So for my last purchase I used 3 x $100 full gift cards and about 11 x $50 gift cards (I went back to Woolworths to buy more, had to wait a day for the Woolworths e-gift card to come in and could only find $50 ebay ones in store). 14+ giftcards in total. Thankfully for now it appears they've taken the limit off the number of gift cards and coupon codes you can use. :) Got roughly 10% so quite happy.

  • Sweet I just got an email from Qantas that gives me a bonus of 1k points if I xfer woolies points. This will help!!

    • Usually with those Qantas deals you don't actually have to have any points to transfer, you just have to change your rewards redemption settings to 'Convert to Qantas Points' for the time period specified in the email.
I've done this before when they sent me a similar offer & reverted to automatic savings before any points were actually transferred to Qantas points & I still received the bonus points.

      • Did you get the bonus qantas points (1000) a second time? Did they even ask you a second time to activate it? The T & C 's are abit ambigious - clause 1 seems to indicate getting bonus reward points merely by "changing" the conversion choice by 7 feb.

I assume clause 2 is just specifying the next redemption conversion date and the need to have a minimum of 2,000 points - march 15th. Not sure though… but this ebay gift card bonus woudl def push me over the edge if so!

To get 1,000 bonus Qantas Points you must be a member of Woolworths Rewards, link your Qantas Frequent Flyer number to your Woolworths Rewards account, and opt-in to convert your Woolworths Dollars to Qantas Points by 11.59pm (AEDT) 7 February 2018. This offer is non transferable, available to the original recipients of this email and should not be shared or forwarded.

^ To get Qantas Points with Woolworths, you must be a member of Woolworths Rewards, link your Qantas Frequent Flyer number to your Woolworths Rewards account and choose to convert your Woolworths Points to Qantas Points. Every 2,000 Woolworths Points earned will be converted to 10 Woolworths Dollars which will then be converted to 870 Qantas Points. The next conversion by Woolworths will occur on 15 March 2018. To be part of this conversion, you need to select Qantas Points as your reward option by 6am (AEDT) 14 March 2018. Please allow up to seven days from Woolworths' conversion date for Qantas Points to appear in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. Woolworths Rewards is not available in Tasmania

  • +5

What if the seller cancels the transaction, does it go back to the card?

    • Good question yea what if your item is refunded ? Do you get a digital gift card ?

    • +3

If you return an item you bought with an eBay Gift Card, the refund is credited back to your Gift Card.

      • +1

another user earlier up in the page mentioned an error/issue where money got "Lost" back to ebay when the items were cancelled etc? So yeah.. might be a worry.

  • +4

so let me get this straight, u only get 1000/2000 points once, doesnt matter how many gift card you purchase?

    • +1

No, you receive the bonus points for each gift card you buy.
      If you purchase 10 x $100 gift cards you will receive 20,000 rewards points (10 x 2000)

    • +1

that's something I was wondering about. if I purchase 10 gift cards and only get 2000 points.

      • +1

I can confirm that it is per card. I bought 10 cards and got 20000. I checked the zeros at the self-checkout terminal. :)

        • Do you get the points instantly as soon as you scan your Rewards card and then the gift card barcode?

  • interesting. thanks.

    • +1

Had to double check it was actually you, thydzik. I'm so used to your red DP.

      • haha, yeah. needed to change it up.

        • Oh man…I've been reading your name as thyzdik for way too long!

  • Can you use $100 gift card from cashrewards to buy the eBay gift card from woolworths?

    • +2

      Yes you can.

      • Great Thanks.

  • +2

Can these GC's be used to pay for items sold in US$? If so, how's their exchange rate?

    • would be keen to know! only used ebay aus.

    • Also interested to know if anyone has used an ebay gift card to purchase an item in USD and ship the item to a US address??

I think the USD part will be okay, not sure if the shipping to the US will work though.

  • +1

    14.5% + potential.
If you purchase with e-gift cards 18.75ish%

    • +5

      Please explain

      • It's not technically 14.5%

But this is 2k WW Points, which is $10 off per $100 card, so they're probably using that as 10% off ($10 worth of points to spend in the future). Then when you combine with PICK5 and buying with discounted wish cards, it comes out as about 18.75%.

      • +3

        0.95 x 0.9 x 0.95 = 0.81225
        18.775% off

        0.8 x 0.9 x 0.95 = 0.684
        31.6% off

        0.95 for 5% off pick5 or 0.8 for PUPIL
0.9 for 10% off eBay giftcard from woolies
        0.95 for e-gift card savings

Add qff for eBay (1qff per $1…may not meet t&C)
Add velocity for eBay (1velocity per $1)
        Add cashrewards (1%)

        WOW!!!

Edit… Watch out for expiry dates of codes. Realised the 20% will be expiring before we can land these

        • +1

Wow, I tip my hat to you sir! You beat me to the calculations!

        • sorry - uninitiated here - but where do you get the 0.95 for e gift card savings? Where to buy?

And I forgot that velocity was even related to ebay… do you have to go via the velocity store to get velocity points? IN which case will referral /click throughs from velocity when you activate cash rewards even stack?

Similar light to qantas mall - i've been too scared to click through qantas then try and use cash rewards at the same time by clicking the in browser activation - does it actually stack/work?

not sure what the pick5 or pupil codes are - may be a good idea for the unitiated here to link or mention what it is? Might have to trawl through ozbargain now and catchup. Thanks for the calcs!

        • +1

          @SaberX:
          1. Cashrewards sell woolies egifts @5%off
          2. Velocity similar to Qantas mall.
(I've only had velocity pay out with points… Qantas have different t&c's re stacking codes and gaining points)
[Give it a go… click through to ebay page via each frequent points mall…click cashrewards last… Then do your purchase)
          3. Ebay codes
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/ebay.com.au#coupons

        • @chinezejew:

thanks appreciate it. NEver bought a cash rewards egift card. how does it work - is it like buying rebel and jb e gift cards off entertainment book? You get sent a barcode that you take instore to woolies, swipe your rewards card and pay at the checkout using the barcode for the egift card?

SO just to confirm - you've launched ebay through the velocity mall and then hit the cash reward activation button and you've had both pay you out everytime you do that?

IS there any bonuses or special activations for velocity - don't think i've linked it to ebay. I assume you do it through the velocity page?

        • @chinezejew:

so step #1 before this deal starts would be the no brainer would be to buy the cashrewards woolies e gift cards at 5% off? Entertainment book also do 5% off don' they? is there any reason why we use cash rewards gift cards - or is that becuase it is most accessible to the public??

all other discounts would then be received when buying online using the ebay cards, so the only discount up until purchase at woolies physically would be to pre-buy the 5% off wish e gift cards from woolies (again does it matter if you get it from cash rewards or entertainment book)?

          Thanks!
