1000 Rewards Points (Worth $5) with $50 eBay Gift Card / 2000 Points (Worth $10) with $100 eBay Card @ Woolworths (10 Cards Max)

2770

I believe points will stack with multiple card purchases, but will leave discussion to the experts.

Also appears you can stack these gift cards with eBay promo codes here and here. Enjoy :)

  • Bought some $50 and $100 eBay cards from two different stores in Sydney as the first store had only $50 ones in stock. In the first store, I paid with eGift card at self-checkout without any issues whatsover. In the second store, self-checkout didn't work for gift card purchase, so I had to go through manual checkout but didn't face any issue paying with e-gift card or activation of eBay cards. Everything was smooth as. No questions asked. No faces made.

    • May I know what is the 1st store?

      • It was: 60 Margaret St, Sydney NSW 2000

  • I have a $5k item I want to purchase in the near future from eBay, any way to combine cards together?
Seems the max cards to redeem is 8 cards/codes from ebay

  • Daft question I know :( but if I want to purchase $1,000 worth of ebay cards, do I need to scan and pay each one seperately to get the reward points?

    • No, you can buy them all at once.
Just check that you receive the correct amount of points, as others have reported not receiving points for all 10 purchases.

      • So I should see $100 (20000 bonus points) in my account after purchase yeah?

        • Correct, check your receipt to confirm.

this is a bit shifty… but does anyone know if some ebay stores from bigger retailers like myers allow you to buy online their ebay store and return instore and get cash back if you change your mind? or would you always get back onto your original payment method?

Can you even do change of minds on places like myers and good guys (like jb hi fi you could, if you haven't opened it etc, reasonable time).

    • +1

Usually in retail, they use the same payment type as the original purchase for returns.

What you are asking about is known as return fraud

      • I once purchased about $60 clothing from Hallenstein online and on return they paid me back in cash! They asked for the credit card and I did not have it on me. Looks like this was an exception though.

    • A few months ago I bought clothes at Myers eBay store with PayPal using a 20% discount code, & I returned one item to a Myer store. Staff looked up the eBay transaction on an iPad, I was told this is new the process for eBay returns. They did not process the refund on their cash register at all. Using the iPad they they processed the refund for the amount I'd paid by PayPal AFTER 20% discount code. Myer staff did not give me any receipt for the return as the transaction was made on the iPad, not their cash register. I complained I had no proof of return, & insisted on taking a photo of the iPad screen showing the transaction details. They let me do this. Within 1-2 days I received an email from PayPal with a voucher code for the refund amount.

This seems to be a new procedure, as previously Myer processed returns from eBay as a refund onto my credit card. I don't think they could process PayPal refunds at POS before. Obviously this has changed now with the iPad based procedure. I was really surprised that they thought it was cool to not give me any receipt.

Myer have always been happy to refund for clothes if they are unsuitable (e. don't fit) & are unworn. You need to have your invoice of course.

      • thanks for sharing your feedback. Not so much clothes but I thought if you bought something electronics or white goods, appliances etc. and hadn't opened or used it whether myers entertained change of minds/no questions asked returns, which they normally would on in store purchases. thanks for advising though :)

yeah, abit strange they wuoldn't give you a receipt. asy ou said if something didn't go right/process you would have no proper process to follow up .

  • just curious also if anyone has tried 10 x $100 ebay cards and 1 x $50 ebay card and seen if the 10 limit applied only to the $100? So whether you could get 10 of each $50 and $100 ones? I doubt it.. but just curious.

      • What i meant was actually buying the cards at woolies not the ebay maximum coupon codes you can use. So whether the max 10 ebay cards per customer meant per denomination or altogether.

Are you also Allowed to sign up to two diff woolies rewards cards and have them both linked to the same frequent flyer number?

        • Buying limit at Woolies doesn't matter much as you can do two/multiple transactions.

        • @virhlpool: sorry bud, according to t&c, yes there is a limit of 10 GCs, where you’ll earn bonus points.

        • Woolworths Rewards memberships are free. You could theoretically take out as many Rewards memberships as you want. Not sure about the rules around QFF linkages from multiple memberships to the same QFF number.

The 10 EBAY gift card card limit is total - i bought 9 x $100 and 2 x $50 using one rewards membership. Only received $95 of Rewards.

        • @GreatWhiteHunter:

yeah that's the big issue - can you link multiple woolies cards to the one QFF for example, or even with flybuys if you can take out multiple fly buys cards and link /transfer across points into velocity….

ahhh pity but thanks for advising about what happened when you bought 11 cards. too good to be true i guess :)

    • Someone also commented earlier that you can buy cheap, e.g. $0.20 items, and the rest of the card balance is added to your eBay wallet. You can then use all of the money to make a big purchase.

      • Do you know how to check the eBay wallet balance? Thanks.

      • Hmmm but ive used ebay gift cards a few weeks back and i would just keep reusing left over balances via the card again. Does it Also add to your ebay acct like a virtual wallet??

      • Doesnt work. I bought a 1cent item and card wasnt on the "eBay Wallet" there is no such thing anyways. Can be corrected.

        • So what happens to the balance? You lost the remaining balance or the card can be reused for the remaining amount in that case?

        • I was wondering how this works and found this link - seems like your ebay credit stays with the card…

This worked for all of mine and gives you remaining balance (if any) in AUD. Note it was down for a couple of hours last night so just wait a few hours and check again.

          It was accurate for me.

@freddofrog42: I donno as I haven't used any yet. Still this comment suggests you can enter more than 7-8 codes into eBay checkout page.

  • I wanted $350 but still waiting on my e-gift cards to be sent to me. Had to resort to temporarily hiding $350 eBay gift cards behind the $100 Jetstar cards at my local. Come at me Broden!

    • vestrosaurus
Have you received your egiftcards yet?

      • Nope… I’ve bought before too. Not sure why it’s taking so long.

    • I ended up calling Woolies head office today and they processed it within an hour after that. Got to my local store, secret stash was untouched hidden in the same spot. It wasn’t necessary anyway as they had enough (but only in $50’s). The guy at self checkout was none the wiser!

    I purchased 4 x $100 cards yesterday. $40 Woolworths Rewards granted.

    Returned to the well this morning. Only 5 x $100 gift cards on the shelf. I grabbed the 5 x $100 + 2 x $50 cards.

When scanned, I received $55 of Woolworths Rewards - not $60. The 10 card limit is clearly hardcoded into the Woolworths Rewards system.

If you want to buy more than 10 cards, use multiple Woolworths Rewards memberships….

  • Went to 4 different woolworths today. Not sure if I'm blind but i didnt see any ebay gift cards, saw basically every other goft card…
    Do they restock them?

    • Hornsby Westfield has plenty of $100 cards.

      • Thanks, probably a bit far for me (in the eastern suburbs) but could be helpful for others.

  • Anyone used 25+ ebay gift cards in 1 transaction?

    Looking at spending $5k

    • I think the max is 8

Woolis marsfield nsw has 30+ $100 cards

    • Cheers. Plenty of 50s and 100s here, just got 800 worth. needed to go to counter to properly purchase but lady was more than happy to process payment by egiftcard.

Seems like the ebay gift card purchases are getting declined. I was not the only person having the issue.

    Tried at Gilles plains SA.

    Is anyone else having issues?

    • +1

I went back and tried again and the cards got activated.

  • Looking at the T&Cs:
When and where can I use an eBay Gift Card? > You can use your eBay Gift Card to pay for items listed on eBay.com.au.

Has anyone tried these for purchases for items listed on ebay.com? what happens when that item is in USD/GBP etc?

  • woolies in my area has no such thing called ebay gift card :(

  • +1

Not sure if this has been said, but this worked for me today (Machine may have malfunctioned?). I bought one $50 card and it gave me $10 of my next purchase (only realised after I had payed for my first 4). So I think if you go one $50 card at a time, you can get $10 off your next purchase each time. This limits you to a total of $500 in gift cards, but you do essentially get 20% off instead of 10%. Hopefully this helps and works at other places.

    • interesting

    • Nope, I just tried and fail. Only got 1000 point, u must have misread or something

    • +1

You must've already had at least 1000 points before buying that $50 gift card.

      • Well I bought 4 $50 cards first, used the $20 credit to obtain the next $50 card (so all my credit should have been gone) and then it said I had received $10 for my next purchase. Used it on 10 oreo packets and the rest is history. Must be a faulty machine then?

        • Last $10 is from your last single $50 gift card (regardless you paid partially by $20 rewards dollars).

        • @jassssone: yea that's right, so what you're saying is I got $10 from my last card? I feel like we're saying the same thing here.

  • Ebay card activation is 24 hours?

    Can anyone confirm?

    • no, activation on spot

  • You get $10 off your next spend as you originally had $5 in rewards on your account from a previous spend which is 1000 points.

It also only shows up on the docket when you reach reward quantity of $10s hence you prob didn't know you had $5 previously

Hence when you got another $5 in rewards for buying the last gift card, it adds up to the $5 you had in rewards. Presto you have now $10 off your next spend

Had fun tonight cashing in on this one.

    1. I signed up for the CBA credit card that offers $300 cash back after $1000 spend and $59 annual fee (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/338969) - obviously pending payment of this one, but the $855 took me over the min spend.
    2. Used cash rewards to purchase eWish cards for $1k value @ $855
    3. Stashed 10x $100 eBay cards amongst cans of tuna during the week whilst I waited for the eWish cards to clear (took 3 days!) and purchased:

    - 5x $100 eBay cards ($50 rewards)
    - 4x $100 eBay cards ($40 rewards)
    - 1x $100 eBay cards ($10 reward on receipt but wouldn’t let me cash that one out on the spot for some reason, but can also see the value sitting in the Woolworths Money app, so must be some limit of 2 x rewards claims in a day).
    4. Use cash rewards eBay link to visit eBay to save 1% + $5 refer a friend credit
    5. Will wait for 10% eBay offer between now and April (or use PICK5 for 5% if one doesn’t come up before then, or get really lucky for 20% off a trade category like they did in January - I can wish right?).
    6. Will buy a new bath and couple of toilets for a renovation

    Stacked Savings:
    $100 cash back (thanks woolies)
    $241 cash back (thanks CBA)
$145 discount (thanks Cash Rewards / woolies)
$15-$16 cash back (thanks cash rewards)
    $52-$111 discount (thanks eBay)
Total savings: $553-$613 off $1000 spend.

Thanks for all your help ozbargainers in the knowledge on this one.

    • Correction to above: purchased $900 eWish cards as I cashed in as I went on the woolies rewards, so $45 saving there, and total saving ~$450-$510.

Should have also added the self-checkout was seamless - no issues self-activating and didn’t require any assistance from a human, was lucky with the way it panned out.

    • You deserve a medal of honour from OzBargain. wish I had your dedication.

  • Expires now, but they have a new gift card offer. I wonder if the Ebay gift card bonus point offer will come back again?
Missed out because the Woolies EGiftcard took 2 days to come through!

  • +1

I managed to get 40x $100 cards in a day or so, pretty easy, Guess no OZB people near me :)

Ebay Giftcard Limit is a $2500 Cash not the number of card limit, Entered 26 cards and stopped me at $2500

Error Code is "Looks like you've used a lot of gift cards lately. You can redeem more gift cards in a couple of days."

    • is that in one transaction? 25 cards? i thought the limit was 7-8.. wish i had bought more if that is the case

      • +1

Yeah 1 transaction let me enter 26 Cards but only $2500 value

        • Good to know it!So you tried 25 cards + promotion code in one transaction?

        • @Smallman:
Yes it allowed to enter 26 cards but it was the dollar value that didn't allow me to enter more.

I only tested to see how many it would allow me to enter, I didn't check out and finalise as I had another 15 cards to enter.

I'll have to chat to the selling to do split listings when I'm ready.

      • The limit isn't enforced. Please let me know when eBay stars enforcing the limit. They also have daily and monthly spend limits which do appearto be enforced by the above comments.
