2770

I believe points will stack with multiple card purchases, but will leave discussion to the experts.

Also appears you can stack these gift cards with eBay promo codes here and here. Enjoy :)

  • Do the ebay gift cards need to be activated by a Woolies attendant like the netflix ones?

    • Last time, I bought Netflix card from supermarket, they didn’t have to activate it.

    • Yes they do, or actually depnds on the POS

    • +1

they get auto-activated when scanned, you get a seperate rcpt (at self server you do)

  • Works confirmed. Thanks!

    • Did you get multiple points per card? Like 4K for 2 $100 cards?

      • The store only had 10x100. Bought them all.

        Got all points

        • Awesome! And did you use discounted wish cards lol?

        • @doweyy: yes, and plat edge amex

        • did you buy them in one go?

I just tried doing 5 x $100 in separate transactions (self serve)
When the first 4 went thru it flashed up $10 off your next shop each time (on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time I got the $10 off) but the 5th there was no points offered. the attendant said it was limited to 4 & reversed the 5th transaction.

      • 4000 bonus points for 2 x $100 gift cards. It does require attendants to log in to self checkout

        • funny. i paid for mine without an attendant.

maybe cause i chucked in a $1.50 coke on special lol. just felt abit bad with 2 gift cards and abit sus at 8:15am in the morning…. and the only self serve checkout lady has only you in the queue and is watching you.

is the activation on payment? becuase i paid using my $200 on egift cards first before paying the last $1.50 on my plat edge lol. so maybe that bypassed system? or diff stores seem to be setup differently in terms of authorisation it seems.

it seems some aren't getting bonus points for 5th card and onwards, or is that just an odd glitch?

        • @SaberX: I was about 45 min after you and also had some general groceries in the transaction so maybe they had updated the system to require intervention. The message said a checkout person was required and flashed the red light, locking the self checkout until an attendant came. Once they logged in it just said they had to confirm that the gift card activated correctly. Given people's comments about cards not activating, perhaps this got added after your purchase time due to that issue.

Here's my experience from Hurstville Woolies. (as of 8am, heaps of ebay gift cards left, btw - both $50 and $100)

Tried to buy $550 worth of ebay gift cards (and other random groceries) from Self-checkout with e-giftcards. Purchase was successful and the 11,000 bonus points got applied to my account.
Everything was going fine until the final online activation process of the ebay gift cards. Each card failed. Was standing around for ages along with the checkout lady because she had to "log in" everytime a card failed.
She sent me to the normal registers. They had to bring in 2 managers because they had no idea how to proceed (normal procedure is to refund the value of the giftcards back onto the original payment method and then to put the sale through again, which would have been a royal PITA).
Anyways, long story short, they refunded $550 worth of ebay gift cards back onto my regular debit card, then processed the sale again (she even swiped my rewards card again automatically - which meant the Woolworths rewards dollars got deducted too!). The gift cards activated instantly with no issues at the register. The whole time they kept asking if I paid with e-giftcards, but didn't seem to have a problem with that aspect in the end. (They also seemed a bit clueless when it came to buying gift cards + paying with e-giftcards in general).

TLDR: Bonus points stack and get rewarded automatically, use self-checkout at your peril! (YMMV).

(Oh, and just used all 6 gift cards + PICK5 code on ebay - no issues)

    • Had a similar issue. Purchased three with some other groceries at self-checkout. Two worked fine, but the third didn't activate. Had to wait around for 5-6 minutes while they worked it out. I will probably go to the register next time.

      • how does the activation work??

It had some dialog boxes and i got two little printouts for the card, but no other "activated" box etc. i'm only worried as the give you the last 4 digits on the printout but you can't prove what other digits are, so if you were to compare to your ebay gift card in 9 months time when you go to use it and it doesn't work… would ebay or woolies even entertain you ??

also - given there's two barcodes on the back.. if you scanned the wrong one it wouldn't go through would it? Just abit paranoid whether it scanned the right barcode on the back.

    • Same as you at Woolies Forest Lake QLD. Heaps of cards left. Checked out the number of cards last night and they were pretty much the same, so I guess there wasn't a rush for the cards this morning.

Went through self-checkout, 10 cards no issues. The self-checkout attendant came over and advised me to use the regular checkouts next time because there are problems with the self-checkout sometimes with giftcards. I guess he meant what you just experienced.

  • Got my gift cards through manned checkout as my store bans the purchase of gift cards using self checkouts due to activation issues (confirmed by the post above). But paid with egiftcard without any problem. Now just hope the thing that I wanna buy doesn’t sell out or jack up in price before I get to the office.

Ps. I bought 3x$100 and 1x$50 gift cards and got 7,000 points.

The discount of this offer is great, but no free returns for wrong sizes etc that paying by PayPal provides, along with the other protections that PayPal offers. Unless there is a way around this…

    • Buy from reputable sellers like Myer

    • If you only pay for a portion of your purchase with gift cards (ie 90%) and then pay the remainder with Paypal, that might work / still give you all the PP protections?

  • Thanks TA, bought 1k

  • Just to confirm it seems like it is indeed limited to 10 ebay cards per everyday rewards card. Just tried to buy the 11th one and did not earn bonus points. Luckily I have backup edr to complete my purchase

  • So am I best to buy 10 gift cards in the one transaction with 2x $500 Woolworths egift cards or will it be okay to separate to 2 separate transactions and get points?

    • +2

      Do 5x$100 - Pay $500
      Then do 4x$100 - Pay $350
      Then do 1x$100 - Pay $60
Then use $10 for next time to buy groceries.

But this process requires staff to intervene 3 times. So if you dont like social human interaction dont do this.

      • +1

So if you dont like social human interaction dont do this

That's most of us here. Why else are we on OzB? We love to interact with machines because they don't judge us nor do they disallow methods such as paying for gift cards with WISH eGift cards but I digress…

      • Im confused why you need to split the 4 x 100 and 1 x 100 out. And why you need to pay $350 for $400 of ebay and then $60? Where are all these discounts coming from?

        • 2000 points = $10 discount

        • @CVonC:

Is it not worth it to take the qantas conversion points if your a qff and planning a redemption big trip sometime??? Or conversion rate works out to be inferior??

      • I thought t&C prevent usage of Woolworths points on gift cards.

    • -1

Short answer yes. I used split payment and got through via one transaction. Less human interaction? Lol. Anyway, I shop at Woolies all the time. $100 worth of groceries won't even cover a week for me.

      • Thank you

  • Does this combined with the normal 20% off sales that are always on? If so, this is a terrific deal!

    • Yes, you can put in the coupon code and the giftcard codes on the same transaction.

  • no ebay gift card in woolworth @ the glen.

went to mountain gate woolworth instead and they have plenty $50 and $100 instore.

    • the glen

That explains it, they've all been cleared out within 5 minutes of the store opening in the morning. Your luck getting eBay GCs (or any other GCs that have promos attached) relies heavily on the people living in the store's surrounds.

      • too many ozbargainers in glen waverley

  • plenty at chatswood interchange 2067

  • Purchased e-gift cards through cashrewards. Email received confirming order is submitted. Anyone knows how long it will take for the e-gift cards to be delivered by email/electronically?
Also likelihood that ebay gift cards will be restocked at a Woolies before end of promo date 6Feb?

    • few hours?

      • Anyway know whether e-gift processing will usually take longer on a day like today given the promos happening? Or no difference? Sorry, E-gift cards newbie here.

        • not too sure, usually will get it late afternoon if you prurchased in the morning

        • Let us know how long it took you to get it as i just purchased mine!

        • @SaberX:
          Ordered yesterday morning.
Got it this morning. So about 24 hours for me.

      • Recently they have changed the verification system and it may take 2days. You can call WW customer service and they will escalate it for you.

All purchases of egift card now require manual verification instead of based on your account profile so it will take much longer than before.

    • Ordered 8am through Cashrewards. Got Tax invoice at 11:15am. eGiftcard received at 11:45am

      • Cool. Hope i get mine soon too so i can try to purchase during my lunch break.

  • Does anyone know if the ebay gift cards can be used straight away after activation? Or do we have to wait 24 hours?

    • +1

Ive tended to use it the same day as purchasing them instore woolies. Just hold onto the cards after use incase of refunds and ur activation receipt from woolies incase of issues.

    • +2

I used mine within 30mins of purchasing - they all applied successfully for the ebay transaction (With PICK5 coupon).

    • I used mine 5 minutes after purchasing them at Woolies.

  • Anyone known if buying the egift cards online with amex triggers the 3 x reward points on groceries??

    • Yes. What card do you have?

      • Platinum edge

        • Then absolutely yes.

        • @MathNerd:

          Great!

Only issue is i ordered 2 hrs ago the e gift cards through cash rewards as forgot to do it earlier.

Hoping it doesnt take one or two days like the ent book.

  • so how do you use these egift cards for woolies? never used instore before, does this mean you need to use 10 different cards to get all the benefits? I read you use a pin like a normal debt card

    • +4

      1) Scan groceries, Gift Cards, etc.
      2) Click "Pay Now".
      3) You'll see 2 options: Card and Card (Partial) (and "More Payment Methods" at the bottom).
      4) Click "More Payment Methods".
      5) Click "eGift Card".
      6) Enter the digits of the eGift card into the EFTPOS terminal.
      7) Press enter.
      8) Enter the 4 digit PIN into the EFTPOS terminal.
      9) Press enter.
      10) Profit.

      • Almost all self-checkouts(New UI) in NSW require staff approval for GC purchase or not allowing at all.

      • +2

wow thanks for going out of your way like that, you're awesome have a nice day! <3

  • I purchased 5 now as my second egift card didn't arrive in time. Hopefully when I buy the second batch of 5 after work it will give me another 10000 points.

  • +3

for those using the self service, Mrs Supabrudda tried & it wouldn't let her use an eWishcard,
So she used Split payment, paid 1c with a CC, & the rest with wishcard. & that worked.

    • +3

An OzBargainer never lets the system defeat them :)

      • yep! and she split them into seperate transactions so the $10 off cascaded to the next giftcard purchase.

        • What 10 dollars off? You mean the 2000 free points??

That reward should be per ebay card shouldn't it so you should be fine paying for 10 x $100 ebay cards on the one transaction. It would just allocate you 20 000 points in one go??

Or is there a need to buy each card seperately?? Surely not?

        • @SaberX: i think others have indicated you get the 20,000 points. But yes I've sent my EDR to auto use the 2000pts when shopping. Which is why i got the $10 off

This morning i did single transactions (each time it flashed up about getting 2000pts) and also got the $10 off on the following transaction. But on the 5th it didn't mention the bonus 2000 points nor was i offered the $10 discount, i asked & was told it was limited to 4 cards, so i cancelled the transaction. Of course the catalogue says 10. So I'll try again tomorrow.

        • @supabrudda:

Oh really. Mightbhave a few upset ozbargainers if they realise gift cards 5 thru to 10 arent subject to the 2000 bonus points…..

Im still waiting for my egift card. Ordered this morning at 9am. Nearly So 2pm so looks like eastern states will be going home soon and therefore my chance :(

    • Was this the new or old self checkout?

      • I think it was the new one. The Giftcard option isnt on the main payment screen, apparently you had to click thru to other payment options.

Even more confusion, she grab another ebay card & went via a checkout and was told it probably won't work, but it did, the duty manager said that apparently you can't use phyiscal Wishcards to buy other giftcards, but eWishcards work. Go figure eh?

  • I was visiting relatives in the Ipswich area & there are heaps of eBay gift cards @ Ipswich Riverlink & Karalee, QLD.
I only bought a couple of $50 ones, I left the rest for Broden.

  • I just found the last 4 x $100 eBay cards at my local. Self checkout worked fine until 1 of the 4 cards wouldn't activate.

Was transferred to the main desk where they tried the bad card again - still failed.

Refunded me $100 as cash - easy money and I dare say still got the points.

So yes self checkout is fine, but some cards seem to fail at authorisation. Operator was needed to get me from shopping to checkout screen - she said it's just to make sure I'm good to continue. To make payment I had to click the 'other payment options' button and it all went through fine.

    OK, I bought 10x$100 cards…now what?

  • Purchased a $100 gift card through the manned checkout at Daisy Hill, QLD.

Heaps of both $50 and $100 ones on the shelf. Paid with eGiftcard no worries and got the points!

  • +1

Update: Also purchased a $100 from the new self checkouts at Brookwater, QLD (plenty of $50’s & $100’s left) and was able to use the $10 from the previous gift card purchase towards the purchase and paid with e-Giftcard no problem with no other items.

It did say on the screen an attendant would need to come over to verify activation was successful. They just scanned their staff barcode and it went through flawlessly.

  • What's the expiry date for eBay gift cards?

    • 12 months

  • Which stores in Sydney don't have stock?

  • +1

The gift card redemption code seems dodgey. It's not even alphanumeric and only the last 7 digits are different.

    • Works even if just last 3 digits where different.

  • +1

Surprisingly, not all stores carry eBay gift cards. I happened to visit Ryde store and they told that they haven't ordered eBay gift cards since Christmas.

  • Sydney city store all sold out :(

  • +1

Thanks TA, just bought 10x $100 eBay GCs… using WW GCs @ 5% off from Cashrewards.

Got the CC points too !!

  • Bought 10x $100 eBay coupon using self checkout with e-Wish cards. Thanks OP. Now what to buy from eBay is the question.

  • Any stores in Sydney still have them?

  • +1 for not being able to do it at self checkout, but the staff at the counter had no issues with putting it through with an egift card.

..however, an even bigger bonus for anybody here who has (or knows someone who has) a woolies/ALH pub staff discount card.. it applies an extra 5% off the price of the gift cards at the register too! Bought $350 worth of cards, the first 300 only took 285 off my gift card, and the final 50 only 17.50!

Now just to decide between the bose qc35s or the sonys, and to wait for a good ebay deal.

BTW: got mine from Oakleigh woolies in Vic. Still plenty left.

    • Yep staff discount a good bonus.

    • I couldn't find $100 cards in the store so purchased 8x$50. How many are we allowed to use in a single eBay transaction?

  • Do eBay gift cards count as a coupon code too? If 8 it the limit for all coupon codes that can be used in a single transaction..

  • Using $50 gift card for a $10 purchase keeps the remaining $40 in account for future use?

  • can't find ebay gift card promotion on Catalog in Karrinyup, WA.

  • Went to Woolworths in Logan took $100 card to self serve checkout and paid for it with egift card but it wouldn't activate so had to go to service counter and she tried another card still wouldn't activate so i got a refund.
