    the worst enemy of olive oil is oxygen. unless you plan to consume 4 litres within 8-12 weeks of opening, go ahead… otherwise don't waste your money and buy only amount that you can consume within 3 months. I prefer the smallest 250ml in dark bottles (light is another enemy of olive oil) so I can have as fresh as possible.

    there is reason why 4 litres are on special, nobody needs to buy this much… how about 20 loafs of bread on special. it's the same thing.

    also check what kind of olive oil it is…

    these days there are two types on the market: Pure Olive Oil and Extra Virgin Olive Oil… never buy pure olive oil, it's usually blend of high-quality extra virgin and low-quality refined olive oil. that's why it's cheaper.

    when it comes to labels, "first pressed", "cold pressed" etc.. are just marketing terms, every olive oil on the market is first pressed and cold pressed.

      i bought a 4l moro can sometime earlier on in the year when it was on "special". it feels about half empty. i'm on a diet now so i hardly touch the stuff nowadays. i will get the smaller bottles in future.

      i get the impression from the choice report that all the oil that comes from europe is old to start off with.

    woolworths had (or still has?) 4x500ml on special for $4.99, it's so cheap I was drinking it instead of water last week… now I have headaches from dehydration.
