Any deals on the Ti Low profile version??

    Thanks.

    • ohhh yes, Mee too :D

      • Are you using it for the optiplex 9020?

        • Its for a HP 800 G1
          Very similar indead.

        • @markh: Did you get it from this deal here?

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/350791

I recently won a bid on ebay for Optiplex 9020 i7 4770, 8gb Ram, No OS for $242.70 delivered after applying the Pronto promo code. Do you think I got a good deal?

It's not "refurbished" like the ones from here on Ozbargain and it doesn't come with any warranty.

        • @Homr: as long as it works, sure it sounds like a decent enough deal.

        • @Homr: you can download win10 pro then use the cdk on the top of your computer to active the windows .i got the second one after you bit win the first

        • @Homr: Picked one up from gumtree for $100.

        • @stone8552: hey, how did you know what listing I won??

        • @markh: That's insane!!

        • @Homr: guess :)

        • @stone8552: I don't know???

  • If the mining craze wasn't in full swing, you'd expect to pay about $275 for a 6GB 1060, and this is half the GPU power with a third of the VRAM.

How does a card a miner will never touch come under the umbrella of the price jack?

Also, this is cheaper elsewhere (or the same if delivered).

    • RAM prices have gone up considerably having a flow on effect to other components.

Also the 10 series cards very rarely sold around Nvidia MSRP even before the mining craze hit, unless on a sale.

It’s much better to link to the product you are referring to that a staticice search page. There’s no stock available anyway.

      • I'm aware of the VRAM issue, but the flow-on effect to the 1050 prices is simply too much for a card that is EOL.

        • EOL, no. They are still making a lot of them and selling a lot too.

        • @c0balt: AFAIK nVidia have stopped production on everything except the Titan V.

They weren't taking orders as of early Feb.

        • @jasswolf:

Have you got a source for that? All sources I've found say the opposite, that they are maintaining or actually increasing supply of Pascal silicon to AIB partners.

          Eg.
          https://www.polygon.com/2018/2/8/16993264/nvidia-gpu-supply-…
          https://hothardware.com/news/nvidia-pumping-gpu-production-t…

        • @c0balt: what I'm saying is that TSMC (the company that are fabricating the chips) have supposedly stopped production.

nVidia might have spare chips and a VRAM shortage for all I know. To merge what you're saying with what I'm saying, it was clarified on the earnings call that they had nothing to say about Pascal supply beyond April.

        • @jasswolf:

Again, source please as the sources I find say the opposite. Happy to change my view but I need to be shown something of substance first.

        • @c0balt: the very nature of manufacturing and stock prices ensures that when I'm saying this stuff, I'm referring to industry rumours.

Beyond that, simple logic dictates that production will have halted by now, as chip production is months in advance of stock orders. You can stick to your guns if you like, but it demonstrates a total lack of understanding about silicon production.

Here's where the production rumours come from: https://www.3dcenter.org/news/nvidia-ampere-geruechtekueche-…

          @jasswolf:

No where does that source say that Pascal production has stopped. The sources I provided say that Pascal silicon production is ramping up to meet the demand.

You may be aware that TSMC still produce the 940m GPU. So just because a newer architecture is announced (or in this case, rumored to be announced), doesn't mean that the old one is no longer produced (especially if there is a huge demand for it). You can kick and scream all you want that's what you find to be logical, but the sources say otherwise.

  • If you aren't putting it in a horrible prebuilt, you can get the RX560 which is slightly faster and allows use of FreeSync for as low as $139 (not sure about shipping costs). 1050s have been quite a bit lower (even recently) and this deal isn't really cheaper than the rest anyways.
