Alternatively, if you're a member of one of the motoring clubs (NRMA, RACV, etc). You might want to check out Vodaphone. They currently have the HTC Legend for $0 repayment on their 12-month $29 cap.

    Navigate to the link below:

    http://store.vodafone.com.au/handset-htc-legend.aspx?company…

    Then select '12 month'.

By my calculation, your min cost over 12 months should be (after 10% discount and 3 months free access):

    $29 * 10% off * 9 months = $234.9

Which is outstanding value for a pocketable Android 2.2 phone with such strong specs. And it comes with a cap with 200mb data!

Be warned, though, that Voda's customer service (or the lack of it, really) is shocking! Have a look at discussions on whirlpool!

    • Considering Vodafone bought 3 would 3's customer service be any better?

    • how do u join the club? and fee cost?

    • Wow! That is superb!
You should post it as a bargain…

    • I did this exact thing yesterday… i didn't want to publish this as a deal until my phone arrived thinking it was likely a typo on vodafone site!! :)

      $26.10 per month - and first 3 months free…

i paid the extra $4 to get 700mb of data….

looks like the cat is out of the bag now; gee i hope i still get the phone. i'm stuck on an old nokia

    • I reckon this reply itself can be a seperate bargain for posting.

      • Done

        • Well done! The hottest first post ever.

    • When I clicked on the details it said the 3 months free credit if you join before 31st October.
"Join before October 31, 2010 and you get 3 months free credit"

      • in the checkout, it's still offering 3 months free!

    • Hi, I can't find it. It's $49 for 24 months. I couldn't find the "12 months" you mentioned. Please point me to the right direction. Thanks.

  • Could someone please tell me how's this phone compare to LG Optimus One which comes with froyo 2.2 out of the box. Both have the same screen size, HTC does have a better camera. LG has built in GPS Maps using NavTeq and free updates for life, and car cradle.

    • google it

    • from what i hear the touchscreen on the lg is aweful.

      • are you sure you're not referring to the Optimus (resistive) and not Optimus One which has capacitive screen, same screen resolution 480x320, multi touch.

    • from what i hear the touchscreen on the lg is aweful.

    • The Legend sh!ts all over the Optimus One..
      They're not even vaguely comparable!
The one advantage of the Optimus is the free GPS App.. worth about $60

      • How are they not vaguely comparable? Seems to me they are very comparable. Same screen, same resolution, same processor speed 600mhz, same weight. In fact, the LG has almost double the standby time as the HTC.

        http://www.esato.com/phones/compare.php?phone=605&cp=650.

        • Yeah, my mistake.. I always think the Optimus One was the first one.. (logical) when in fact it was actually the second.
The first one is not comparable…

  • POOR SINGAL RECEPTION WITH THREE IS A BIG ISSUE

    • yet another reason to go with the Voda offer posted by yjm above…

  • I found the mention of the 10% off…
    http://store.vodafone.com.au/SYCS/Default.aspx?company=amsr

but couldn't find anything about the 3 months free access…

    • go to the checkout

  • Hi - is it still free to unlock the HTC Legend on Vodaphone? There is an old link from whirlpool forum, not sure if it is still current.

    • just tell them you're going overseas and they should unlock for you

  • Perhaps I am missing something but this offer clearly states over 24months therefore your calculation needs to consider that.

  • Vodafone kill this deal! :)

    • I sincerely hope so.
