Are these bright enough for a room or are they designed for lamps?
    nevermind - only 800lumen

    • 800lms, so should be fine for a room light.

    • 800lm would be suitable for a room.

For a lamp I imagine you'd want much lower or to at least have the bulb dimmable.

      • You can dim them so much they are suitable as a nightlight in a lamp.

        • Yep. They’d suit lamps too.

    • +1

I have one and they are very bright at 100%. Fine for a bedroom.

I have one in my bedside lamp and even at 50% it's way too bright for a bedside light.

    • They are surprisingly bright.

  • +1

If you reduce the quantity to 1, the price goes up to the RRP of a single bulb. I would expect that you'll only receive 2 bulbs, not 2 packs of 2.

    • +2

Meh, photo shows 2 bulbs, they’re selling a single mini one for $62 not $69 on the sale page, and they have free returns. I’ve placed an order, let’s see what happens

      • +1

        ^ I’m with this guy

        Thanks DisabledUser250811

      • Yea single mini is $62 and photo shows 2. Worst case is get refund or paypal dispute for false advertisement =). And it is a "gift pack", where one would reasonably assume a pack would mean more than 1 =P

        • Or it comes in a giftbox.

  • +1

Thanks for posting DisabledUser250811 wherever you have gone! That’s a really good deal on these bulbs.

    From their FB page:

    "The True Lover

One LIFX Mini is good, but two is always better than one. With two Minis you’ll get to illuminate a medium-sized room, say a study room or a kids room for instance. It also brings the full color spectrum which makes it more fun to set different colors depending on the mood you’re in….."

Also the code lifx10 works to get another 10% off, I only needed two more lifx bulbs so ordered 1x Truelovers pack came to $63 :)

    • +1

      Yeah, I just found that.
      Good deal!

    • +2

doesn't work if you order more than 1 pack. If you enter in the code, it reverts back to $69 each pack. So 2 packs = $125.99

  • Great find OP. At $28 each these are not much more than 'dumb' white LEDs! I had planned to have a Hue home (and probably still will), but worst case is using these in spare rooms, lamps etc.
Let's see if it works out.

  • +1

Showing up as $70 each at checkout.
Ohh cause I used the 10% off code.

    • Yep the discount code cancels out the promo :(

  • What's the benefit of these compared to Xiaomi Yeelights for half the price, besides Homekit support?

    • +2

I got a Yeelight, it doesn't work properly for me in Homebridge and I can't get it working with IFTTT or Google Assistant.
Right now it's acting as a dumb bulb.

      • Yeelight works with my Google Home, albeit the set up is a bit more complicated.

        • +1

I have spent hours trying to add the lights to either Google Home or IFTTT, but when I sign into my Yeelight account, no lights show up.
Googling shows lots of people with the same issue on their forums.
I gave up cause smart lights are supposed make life easier.

        • @theguyrules: IFTTT only works on Singapore server just FYI

        • @voldemort: I think I tried that, but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!

        • @theguyrules:
Weird. After I finally got the bulbs to connect to my wifi, I don't recall having any issues with IFTTT or Google home.

The lights were easy… The toothbrush was a nightmare, and I don't even know what it does in the app

      • Fair enough. My experience with them (2 so far) has been excellent when using with Google Assistant and IFTTT, using the Yeelight app. I'd be looking at a return for your case.

        • Meh, I paid like $10, which is fine for a dumb bulb that I can occasionally change colour using the app if need be.

        • I have 8 Yeelights working with GH and never had an issue.

        • @whatisk: That's good. It just doesn't work for me.
Lifx has always worked perfectly for me on Homebridge + GH so I'm grabbing more of these.

    • besides Homekit support

I think you just answered your own question there…

      • +1

They have a pretty amazing returns policy. They just send you a new bulb. Probably because a lot of the Gen 1 and 2 were faulty, but still.

    • Yeelight isn't as bright as the lifx. My colour yeelight is about 600 lumens I think, compared to 800 or 1100 lumen of Lifx.

  • nice, thanks!

Got a couple lifx in my home, needed some of the small ones but could never justify the price. At this price i can!

    :)

  • Been waiting for a good deal. Bought! Thanks OP.

  • I grabbed two packs… will cover the living room and bedroom.. give me a use for the google mini that work gave us for Christmas.

    • +2

Our house has gone from “OK Google what’s the temperature” to now “OK Google set light to 20%”.
For me I usually follow that up with “No Google don’t set alarm for 2:30am!”

      • +1

I just hear animal noises at the minute.. ok google what noise does a duck make… keeps kids occupied but only so many times you can hear the same animal over and over again.

        • Ok Google, play beach sounds

        • @Salmando:

Now that's useful with seagulls in the background ….mine mine mine mine mine.

      • Did you have any issues setting it up with google home… I authorise the LIFX account and get no options to add the lights to google home or the bedrooms. removed the kids account that was linked, setup the home speaker again and the lights again…same deal also tried the same on the ipad surely I must be missing something.

        • I can to create a LIFX cloud account using the same burner email I’m signed into Google Home (iOS) with. Having issues controlling my bulb from two Apple accounts though (works with my HomeKit, but not the wife’s).
I still feel the integration of this tech needs more time to stew before it’s ready for mass-market adoption. Connecting IOT devices shouldn’t require a masters degree.

        • @muncan:

I'll give it another bash over the weekend but even starting from scratch there seems to be a break in the linkage between home and LIFX… when you see the amount of devices you can add you understand the complexity… the LIFX app works great.. i would like to be able to control rooms and not just all lights or individual lights… that's why i want home to work as that does it. … and the voice control.

        • @muncan:

Figured it out… didn't claim light to enable the cloud access… so three i have currently setup on the ipad homekit .. but only two showing on google home… ? not perfect but the lights the kids always leave on are done so the most important one.

    Farewell User

  • Sad to miss this deal… Need them at that price.

  • Ordered 2 of these this morning. Not needing a hub and compatible with Google home ticks all the boxes for me.

  • Hate that I rethought and passed on this. Looking back this is a killer price and I could've used some more bulbs since I'm looking to get more lamps for my room!

  • +1

    Shipping confirmed …thanks

  • +1

Received today. 4 mini color in the box. Thanks OP

    • Dang mine only shipped today.
Glad to hear its 4 bulbs though!
      Bloody good deal.

  • +1

Yes rcvd today also… 4 bulbs… no lovers gift pack as such just four individual bulbs… very honest delivery folk as the box was not taped in anyway just a cardboard tab keeping it closed… I'm very happy thanks.

  • Anyone managed to get these working with Google home …I follow the guide but after authorising my account with Google it flashes quickly to allocate room then goes back to devices section …no option to add …tried on android and ipad …no deal.

    • Yep. Easy peasy. Set up lights via the lifx app first and then added to Google home. Took about 15 minutes to get the whole thing done. Now the kids can't stop turning these on and off..

      • User error.. I didn't enable the cloud option in the settings for each light…. was doing setup through apple kit menu and google home after it failed on my phone… missed the cloud /pairing option in the lifx app…

        • Reset and start again. Quite easy really.

  • Installed mine today, replacing Xiaomi Yeelights, but I don’t think these are anywhere near as bright even though they’re both 9w (800lumen). Anyone else find the same?

    • My Xiaomi's are under a frosted lightshade in the kids room so I cant compare as my other lights are just shades not behind glass…
