  • If you added a Netflix card to your account I presume it'd deduct from that each month till it's empty?

    • +6

      Yes.

  • I bought this card before and notice that it works like just a normal eftpos card where you need to select "savings" and key in the pin number. There is also an eftpos logo at the back of the card. I wonder if we can use the card at other retailers.

    • +4

Give it a shot and report back?

    • More interestingly, would that also mean you could cash out the full amount straight away 🤔

    • +5

I tried on some retailer not listed and it fail.

    • +1

I just used at woollies and the transaction failed.
The system is cleaver than we think.

      • +8

I think it is very cleavage

      • +3

        Sounds quite sharp

    • -3

It won't work but eftpos refunds back to eftpos if you have the time.
Rebel and TRS both have excellent change of mind return policy.

    • +1

I've heard you can use it as a coaster.

  • -5

Where have you been Tightarse, I've missed you.

I missed you so much I put an ad on GrindR, Desperate Scab Seeks Tight Arse.

Within a few minutes I was flooded with offers of money to engage in debauchery and sins of the flesh.

There's some real sickos around, Tightarse.

  • Annoying you can only collect one per household rather than 2,000 points per card like Woolies ran a couple of weeks ago (for $100 cards). Good deal, but limits the savings.

    • I tried it with a similar promotion, used 2 different cards same address and the points came through. I think the one per household means if there are other members linked to the same card, you won't get the bonus points for each member.

      • +1

It actually says one per FLYBUYS household, i.e. main account.
Flybuys doesnt care about your physical address at all.

  • +1

Make sure to actually check your account after you purchase it, as I still haven't been credited the points for the last time they had this promo.

    • +1

I wasn't credited either. Called flybuys and they put the points on my account straight away.

    • +2

The reason why you didn't get credited was most likely because you bought the Ultimate Kids when it was only for the Ultimate Teen card. This time it's both Kids and Teen

      • Oh really? I didn't even realize there was two different types.

        • +1

Well that's my theory, but going by the comments in the post (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/357417), I'm confident that my theory is right.

          @kerfuffle:

Fair enough, saved me a call to FlyBuys, cheers!

        • +1

@Lorindor: Call them anyway. I bought the wrong card, and they still credited me after I emailed them. I didn't say that I bought the wrong card, so either they can't tell the difference, or they didn't care and credited anyway.

        • +1

@puffinfresh: I just did and they credited the points manually.

      • +1

Nope. Bought the ultimate teens. Made sure it was the right card and the right dates. Waited til end of month to ensure it wasn't flagged as promotional. No points. Called flybuys, they checked date I said I had purchased and found it. Added missing points.

  • Can i use flybuys points to buy this from coles? I have 2000 points in my flybuy so this would end up being $40 for card.
As i gain another 2000 points by buying this first card can i then buy another card and get this for $40 so end of day i have 2x $50 cards costing me $80.

    • No. Read the terms. One per household

      • Yes but i already have 2000 point in my flybuys so can i use this to buy this card which would cost me $40 instead of $50.
As this would be my first card purchase using my flybuys points i already have why dont i gain 2000 points as its my first card purchase?

And as its my first card purchase i buy my second using that 2000 points, but obviously i dont gain 2000 points on the second card as only one per household or am i missing something here?

        • No points on second card purchase. Points may not get credited immediately.

Yes you would be able to use flybuys points as a method of payment.

        • @trev likes bargains:

I dont get it im using points with my flybuys that was said i can do,I just grab card and use my flybuys card and it be $40 or do i need to exchange my flybuy points into a coles gift card.

Ok now that i used my 2000 pts which has nothing to do with this promotion and purchased my first card. Im entitled to 2000 points for that card yes as its my first card?

I then use these other 2000pts for my second card,my first 2000 pts are nothing to do with my promotion just points i have already.

Or in gerneral regardless if i had 2000pts,4000pts,6000 pts i can only use flybuys 2000 points one one card so me buying my first card is it.

I can understand not getting 2000pts for each and every card after.

        • @trev likes bargains: yes i know no points earned on second card but on first yes?
As i already have 2000pts in flybuys i use this to get card for $40.
Now that i have my first card paid $40 i gain my 2000pts so i go to use this on second card but yes dont gain points on the second card.

        • @bwatt72:
If you had 10 000 points, you could pay for the card using those then collect 2000 for purchasing an eligible card.
That's it, end of promotion. No extra points for extra cards.

        • @linton:

Yes but as i said i own 2000pts in my flybuys so i go buy card its my first card and i get it for 40$.
They give me 2000pts for buying this first card into my flybuys so i have now 2000pts back in my flybuys.
Are you saying i cant use these pts i just got from first card purchase to buy another card at 40$?

If so then all I gain is i can use my own 2000pts and buy card for $40 and that's it and i have 2000pts in my account but cant be used on second purchase right?

        • @bwatt72:It is very simple. You can use points as a method of payment. It has nothing to do with this promo.

You will get points for the first card purchased.

So you will have 2000 points and it will cost you $40 out of pocket

        • @bwatt72:

You can use the 2000pts you get from this for anything you like, but just be aware they won't give you any more points for buying any after the the first.

You seemed to make something that is quite simple into anything but.

        • @trev likes bargains:

Yes i know but as i said before i already have 2000 pts so if i buy my card with these at $40 great.
These points are nothing to do with this promo just points i have right now.
So as i have now say used these 2000pts and got my card for $40 is that it.

Or do i as said get 2000pts for buying the first card again in my flybuy but cant use them again on this other card as I will have used my own points already.

Im trying to use my own pts to get card for $40 which i believe you can do and as i just purchased my first card and got my first 2000 pts try and get another at $40.
But this time i dont gain any points on second card.

I asked already in regards to the flybuys pts do you need to exchange them into a coles voucher to be able to use against card or you just buy card scan your flybuys card and money will come off.

        • @linton:

Its simple what im asking i have 2000pts now in my flybuys, i go and buy a card using these points.

I now have no points and got my card for $40.

But then saying that i just purchased my first card so next day or so my flybuys now show another 2000pts.

I then go onto store once again and use these 2000pts to buy a second card making it $40 again.

But this time i dont get another 2000pts as its my second card and already got before.

        • @bwatt72:
IIRC, in Coles, when a gift card is purchased, the payment has to be completed in full. That means you can not split the payment into $10 (Flybuys dollars) and $40. Happy to be corrected.

I was told by the standout this around a year ago and not sure if this rule still applies.

        • @littlepcat:

Then how the hell do you get it for $40 when others say you do,i know if i wanted to use say my flybuys in target i exchange that into voucher and whatever i buy i get $10 off using voucher. I have only done this online with target though.
So what happens with coles right now i have 2000pts =$10 to use and was looking to use against this card are you saying i cant??

        • @bwatt72:
Per the T&Cs, the answer would seem to be no. From Section 4.3 on this page:

When an Eligible Cardholder presents their flybuys barcode for scanning at the Coles supermarket checkout on a single transaction of $10.05 or more (after savings and discounts and excluding gift cards and smoking/tobacco product purchases) the Eligible Cardholder may claim $10 off that transaction.

        • @Gustave:

After all this and hoping to transfer my pts into dollars it looks like I can use my $10 on gift cards:

FB$ may be used in a transaction at a participating store as payment or part payment for purchases (excluding gift cards, itunes cards and smoking/tobacco product purchases). When you want to use your flybuys Dollars you, will need to present your physical flybuys card when you are next in store and enter the PIN. FB$ cannot be redeemed via the barcode on the back of any credit card on which you can earn points.

Same goes for woolworths someone said you could here but I tried this last time and like coles it don't work on gift cards.

So all this is only good if you want extra points which obviously is still money but not how I wanted it.
I was hoping to buy these cards cheaper.

      • So i use my own 2000pts gwt it for $40 but dont gain 2000pts from that promo so really i be as well use ny flybuys another time as your saying i dont get 2000 pts?

    • The points are not credited instantly either, usually the next day.

      • Does not have to be next day few days after is ok to buy other card once points is added.

  • What are the expiry dates on these things? 12 months or 24?

  • Not sure if listed on here but Woolworths currently have these teen and kids gift cards $30 pay only $20. Have to use rewards card. I bought 2 cards but in seperate transactions to get the $10 instantly off. Can use the same rewards card to make the purchases.

    • The offer you are referring to is in the current catalogue, but you only earn 600pts ($3) for the $30 card or 1000pts ($5) for the $50 card.

      • +1

I think there's more value with the one at Coles. Sure you have to convert the FlyBuys Points into FlyBuys Dollars, but it still gives you $10 off your next shop.

        • Absolutely, the Coles deal is twice as good as the Woolworths one.

    • You cant just go in with rewards and pay $20 for a $30 card surely you have to use points to do this?

  • bought the gift card for $30 last fri and they gave me $10 off my next shop, through my rewards card.

Bought 2 $30 cards in seperate transaction today and I only paid $20 for each card. She took the $10 0ff straight away. either way I was happy. Better than waiting for points.

    • I don't get it thought it was points you earn so you just walked in there grabbed a 2 $30 cards at different times and each time you only paid $20 how is that possible if I know this work I will go and grab two $30 cards and pay $20each so a $60 vale in cards for $40,where does it advertise this deal is on? Only I see it's points earned?

      • Buy a $30 card, get $10 of rewards points credited after the transaction is complete.
Then those $10 of rewards is ready to use on the next card purchase, so the $30 only cost $20 out of pocket.

        Pretty straightforward?

        • So your not really getting $10 off first card its only cards after that or should i say when your done you have 2000pts left over.

But im not sure in wa if this works I tried to do a similar thingva while back with same cards and at woolworths and you could not use your rewards points/$10 on buying gift cards i tried at two places both self checkouts and at counter and it did not work.

  • +2

It says once per flybuys house hold- does it mean if v buy "ultimate teens" and "ultimate kids"- do v gt 4000 points in total ?- 2000 for each card ?

    • +1

At a guess, I'd say you only get one set of points, even if you buy multiple different branded cards. The T&Cs kind of lead to that, but could be interpreted either way.

  • -2

Why is coles so stingy wollies have yo to 3 purchases no wonder wollies is doing much better.

  • Doesn’t apply to Coles Express (non-fuel)?

    • +1

Catalogue specials never apply at Coles Express (non-fuel)

      • Really? I've seen items in the catalogue on special that have been the same price at the servo (chocolates, OJ, TP etc.)

        • That’s why we said non-fuel (or non-servo). Maybe a better wording would be that bonus points don’t apply at Coles Express (non-fuel) outlets (and Coles Wynyard)
