  • The first one seems like far better value to me, seeing as you get double the cores, double the RAM, and double the HDD for only $104 (35%) more.

By the way, I'm very surprised that Dell Australia have been on eBay for 11 years, yet their feedback rating is still less than 10,000.

    • They don't sell the kind of product that would be in the hundreds of thousands in sales.

Those sellers sell cheap products not laptops.

  • Item location: Dell Overseas Factory, Malaysia

Delivery: Estimated between Wed. 14 Mar. and Tue. 24 Apr.

    • Dell laptops are, in general, made to order.
All Dell laptops sold in South-East Asia and Australasia are made in Malaysia. (Not in China.)

  • +1

Reviews for the higher priced model aren't good: https://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/dell-15-inspiron-3…

  • Not bad vs the inspiron 11

  • I'd say that HP 250 G6 from the same sale is a better deal at $308 (jw computers).

    • better keyboard
    • no dvd drive (the laptop is lighter)
    • screen can be changed in 10 minutes

in regards to the last point, the cheaper the laptop, the lower quality screen you get, but also the easier it is to change the screen. I got this hp, and a 1080p IPS panel for it for about $85 delivered from uk. to replace the screen, one needs a plastic card, screwdriver and 10 minutes.

  • Important question: is the screen TN or IPS?

    • tn of course.
buy it, and switch the screen to IPS. 4year old could do it.

      • The IPS screen might come with a higher resolution. I don't want a higher resolution, I want the 768p, or 800p.

        • I don't want a higher resolution.

You do know it's 100 PPI on a 15.6" laptop. Not exactly the most brilliant thing to be looking at all day.

        • 1080p is perfect for 15.6 inch screen.
768p is good for 11 inch. but up to you of course. if there were 1600x900 panels for 15 inch, I would get one, but it seems they only make them for 17 inch.

edit: there are 900p 15 inch panels on ebay, but they look very different to the standard 15 inch screens, I see no way to screw them to the frame. also, they are tn.

          @pennypincher98:

For my purposes I'm not going to be looking at it all day. I'm only using it for a specific use case. For my "all day use" I have better equipment.

I'm playing 2D games that run at low resolution. They won't look good scaled up to hi res. Or you can run them in a small window. Not ideal. I want native res. Everything will look small in 1080p. Or pixellated if you stretch it to full screen.

  • Thanks OP, bought one for Uni use for partner
