I've been cc'ing Sarah Descher into my emails. Sydney based Comms Manager for Stoneleigh wines' parent - Pernod Ricard.
    [email protected]

    • +1

Great idea. You should send her the link to this thread.

    • Has this worked? …. I know from the above mine is definitely going to be denied as I selected one NZ location but uploaded my driver's license.

      • Too early to tell. Everyone has been on leave.

        • I too am hoping to get a possible response from her. I just called the hotline and tried a friendly but firm request for management contact details but obviously was unable to make any headway. More emails sent directly to the promoter

        • +2

          Recently got this from promoter:

Regarding to your inquiry, we can accept travel ID instead a passport for the domestic destinations, however one of your choices is to an international destination where you will not be able to travel to without a valid passport. We unable to accept invalid or expired travel ID or passports.

We inform all participants in detail about which travel ID is required and must be uploaded during the application process.

Please also note point 7 of the terms and conditions: “7. To be eligible for the Offer, Participants must take all the following steps:”

Applicants must provide valid Passport (international travel) or Travel ID and also must provide 3 destination and dates to choose from. In effect we did not receive 3 destinations as we would have to discount the destination to NZ in order to make an offer. We cannot provide an offer for you as you did not provide us with the necessary documentation, and a valid Travel ID.

If you have any further queries please refer to the terms and conditions of the campaign, https://campaign.flywithstoneleigh.com/terms/

I have responded saying the email said please supply drivers license or passport and am awaiting their response. fingers x'd!

        • @razzamatazza: any response yet? I got a similar reply and am now threatening to make an ACCC complaint for unconscionable conduct.

The whole process is designed to trick people. If they needed a passport, they could have simply emailed back

        • @smalldeadchris:

I was fortunate that Stoneleigh accepted my passport and offered me a flight. They stated that they did so as a gesture of goodwill and weren't obliged to offer a flight given the ts and cs

Throughout the process I was very friendly (though threatening accc did cross my mind)

          Good luck!

    • Hi Bart Bart, Did Stoneleigh ask you to direct complaints to Sarah Descher when you contacted them, or did you find her contact details another way?

      • Googled.

        • +1

Thanks. I’ll cc her into my email. Hopefully the onslaught of complaints will make Stoneleigh think twice about hiring this mob again.

        • @Becsavers: Did you make any progress with thsi or are they still stonewalling you for sending licence not passport?

        • @GDogg: No progress unfortunately. I didn’t have the passport/licence issue though, my issue was timeline related. No correspondence back from Stoneleigh either.

        • +1

@Becsavers: Thanks - just frustrating the whole process!

    • Have you had any luck Bart? I realised I will have the same issue, my passport is due to expire in June.

      • None. Angry. But on verge of giving up.

        • I would complain to the company you purchased the wine from ask head office who is the buyer and cc the wine company as well that will stir things up

  • +2

Does anyone have a screenshot or saved the document of the application where it states to upload either passport OR drivers license?

  • Are the flights people are getting return flights? And are they late at night? Cheers

    • +1

Mine were morning flights both ways.

  • Just wondering about the cancellation bit. If you get a free flight and end up not going, do you have to pay any cancellation fees?

  • +6

I got a Perth_Bali return in November, my 2nd selection. 8 day so thats 7 nights in Bali…. Jetstar flight.
I have logged into "manage Booking" at Jetstar using ticket code provided and my surname.
Appears that I can change dates, add baggage, select seat, select meal, all at my extra cost of course.
But at the end of the day I have a flight worth around $350 (and 6 bottles of Wine which cost me $80- ) and I can book and pay for a second ticket for my wife.
If you decide not to go and cancel, well might as well just ignore it all and just not turn up at the Airport.
If you want to stay longer, then amend and pay amend fee or just book yourself a different one way flight back through any carrier.Once you have taken the "Out" flight then you are not compelled to take the "Return" flight.
Still waiting for 2nd offer in my wifes name, hopefully she will get same flights as me but probably not. Will then have to decide which destination to go with (Bali or her destination) or maybe both and buy 1 extra tix for each flight.

    • +1

Yep jetstar international flight date change fee 75$ + difference, if any

    • Could you tell us how long after you submitted your passport that you received your "offer"? Thanks 💐

  • Just got my flight offer- Perth to Adelaide. Not my first choice (or second!) but I guess beggars can't be choosers!
Now to figure out what to do for 3 days in Radelaide…

  • Yay, 18 days after I sent my passport scan to Inspire, I received their flight offer.

I have accepted their offer of return flights to Christchurch with VA. The VA flight will arrive in Christchurch at midnight. The offer does not include checked in baggage.

Their offer is also not a confirmed booking but they claim that they will send another e-mail with a confirmed booking.

It has been a long wait since I posted the receipt on 2 March and I have now consumed 4 of the 6 bottles of Stoneleigh wine while waiting.

This trip will be my first to NZ.

  • +3

Got my offer to Auckland, looked up flights and appear to be worth around 650…. not bad indeed for buying 6 bottles of wine for 59 dollars

    • What choice numbers were the dates and destination? And how long did it take from when you sent in your passport photos? ThNks 💐

      • +1

In my case, both the destination and dates were my second choice.

My offer was for VA flights across the ditch, but I could end up in an Air New Zealand plane as both airlines code share.

  • +1

Got my 3rd choice destination on 3rd choice dates. Not surprised, was going to be the cheapest option I am sure. Flights worth $320 if I were to purchase them today.

Want to change the time of one, and appears easy enough on airline website for a surprisingly reasonable fee except it won't seem to let me change my contact email away from [email protected]

The Inspire email says no changes or cancellations, but will they really care if I pay the change fee? I hesitate to email them as they have been so universally awful in running this. I could call the airline but then the change fee more expensive….. hmm…

    • +3

Yes. I’m sure I’m misinterpreting the time of the emails, but they almost seem to take a pompous glee in trying to find ways to disqualify people.

  • +1

On the 12th day after sending my passport scan, I used the contact form to ask about my flight offer.

Their reply was in such bad English, I was none the wiser after reading the reply several times.

  • +3

This mob are not doing any favours for the Stoneleigh brand. I just cannot understand why on earth they would partner with this UK based company who seems to outsource email communications to Indians/Philipinos with a poor understanding of English. And yes, they seem to be doing everything they can to disqualify claims, including making up new terms and conditions as they go or reading too hard into them (but they may relent if you challenge them enough). Definitely a lesson in how not to run a promotion.

  • I have never worked in marketing, but this promotion appears to be a costly way of moving Australian stock without discounting the price.

On the second day of the promotion, the retailers increased the price by $A20 per case, which would have deterred buyers who were unaware of the promotion.

There was no point of sale material at the retailers to entice sales. I was only aware of the promotion through this website.

If you accept the promoter's claim that 5,000 flights are to be given away at a cost of $A300 each, that means a spend of $A1.5m to move at a minimum of 5,000 cases of wine.

    • 5000 cases doesn’t sounds like a lot but perhaps the marketing campaign was not targeted as much to the customers but rather to increase distribution channels. With the 5000 people walking around asking for 30000 bottles of wine will for sure cause some of warehouse automatiosation systems and managers to order more of it next time, perhaps more varieties too ;)

      • Plus have you told your friends about the cool deal where this wine company gave you free flights? I know I have so there’s some extra marketing there

        • Yep so real cost of campaign is more likely 100-500k
Still not great but not as bad as 1,5m

It is like hiring two+ people for a year

Looks like my local Dan murthy has increased stoneleigh variety 2x

        • +1

          @evgpek:
My local Dan Murphy has dropped the price of a case of Stoneleigh Sauvingon Blanc by $A18.30 since the promotion has ended.

  • Has anyone received a phone call from them asking to pay for extra passengers yet? I just realised the calls I’ve been getting from “lifestyle rewards” that I have been ignoring may have been related. Can anyone confirm?

  • I went through all the steps to get an offer and there was 2 options to click:
    1. I don't like this flight offer.
    2. Accept offer.

I hit no. 1 to hopefully get a different date or city or to see what the options were. But upon pressing that button (which is placed first on the page) it immediately disqualified my entire claim. Dodgy to say the least.

    • Yeah, I saw that too and noticed it said final offer.

  • I got the offer at 12.30am or 2.30pm UK time. Inspire is based in the UK.

Even though I was bleary eyed at that time, I understood that hitting the No 1 button would kick me out of the race. I therefore hit the No 2 button.

After all, this offer was my second preference.

  • I received my second preference for date ( first was school holidays) first preference for desrinstuon. Per-dps in August for 4 nights while teen is at school camp. Received offer less than a week after sending passport.

    • +1

Jetstar flights currently available through Jetstar for $265.

  • Just found my offer from this morning in Junk folder. Close one!

Don't remember which city order i chose but they were all 3 NZ destinations. Did get my 3rd choice date in November though, guess i have a bit of a wait ahead!

Flying Virgin Australia both ways, $461 if i booked today. Although their site is telling me i can only book with points, but google flights says the times definitely match with Virgin and not AirNZ. Strange..

    • Hope you were within the 48 hr deadline!

      • Yep all good! Came through at 12:45am yesterday, but didn't see it until late last night. Phew! I always had this feeling that one of their emails might get sent to junk…

        • +2

With this crew, it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't drafting them to look like spam so there'd be fewer redemptions.

  • What is email subject heading pls….so I don't miss it

  • +1

The subject heading was "Fly with Stoneleigh - Your offer fsl####".

  • +1

I've selected ALL domestic locations and I send them an email today (14th day since providing my drivers license) and my response is along the line of "You were cancelled due to no passport, will start again". One of my selected dates is two weekends away form now, I sent back a wtf and attached my passport (am on PC now and it's easy enough to do - was on phone when I uploaded ID and just look a photo of my license) along with the email, waiting for them to tell me it'll be another 14 days despite me doing everything that was asked.

Don't wish to sound ungrateful for a cheap getaway but 2 weeks notice to take time off work is just a bit hard, plus find accommodation etc.

EDIT: And I've got my $158 BNE to SYD flight offer :P

    • +1

Same thing has happened to me, only 2 weeks notice for the flight they've allocated me. I'm trying to reason with them to allocate me one of my other preferences seeing as the short notice has been caused by their inability to follow their own T&Cs. If they'd sent the original email and offers within the 7 and then 14 days as outlined in the T&Cs then we would have had 4 weeks notice instead of only 2 weeks.

  • Just got my booking confirmation to find the first name on my ticket is a merge of my first and middle name (e.g. "Tomprice Jones" instead of "Tom Price Jones"). Well this should be interesting considering you aren't allowed name changes.

I've emailed them but any idea if this will be a problem at the airport? Since i'll be going internationally too…

I mean they got it right in the header of the document, how hard can it be!!

Edit: Wow, they sure emailed back fast. Apparently it's all good, just how the system does it? Weird..

    • My confirmed booking came through today.

My pdf was addressed to my second name, followed by my surname, followed by my first name.

The confirmed booking has my first two names combined followed by my surname.

I hope VA honour this booking.

      • Seems like it will all be fine. Have you tried using the booking number on Virgin site at all? Mine just won't load anything..

        • I went to the Manage Booking part of the VA website and used the Confirmation No from the PDF. I got through and could see that my booking included one bag. The face value of my CBR to CHC return ticket is 468 pounds or $A854.16.

In the Manage Booking part of the VA website, I added my e-mail address, mobile phone number, Velocity number and passport details.

I originally tried to use the PNR REF number and it did not work.

        • @klrrider1: Interesting. I'll check it out again then, thanks.

        • @klrrider1: Lucky! I got CBR to AUK worth around $600AUD. I prefer CHC overall though, but Beggers cant be choosers!

        • +1

          @Hugetyler:

Congratulations on getting your free ticket. Which airline did they put you on?

I went to the Manage Booking part of the VA website again and found that my ticket is a Go Plus - Economy ticket. This entitles me to a 23 kg checked in bag, but no meals or alcohol.

As there is a short stopover at MEL in both directions, I will buy a meal there.

        • +1

@klrrider1: I got VA as well, and saw they paid for the Go Plus tickets for me too. Great it includes luggage! Same deal, I stop in Melbourne too.

I also noticed the option to "Bid for an upgrade" was available. Try your luck for a cheap Business class trip? ;)

        • +2

          @Hugetyler:

I had a look at the upgrade option, but decided against it.

After all, this ticket and 6 bottles of wine has already cost me $A77!

    • I wouldn't worry too much about this. I use to book heaps of travel with STA and they always did this…. Never any problems even in the US.

      • Yeah sounds like it will be fine. Never seen it before that's all

    • Got my ticket and it is the same merge of middle and first name (without capitalization of the middle name) + they have misspelt my surname which is more worrying to be honest. I thought that the name has to be 100% as it appears on passport for international travel?

      • The merged name is apparently fine according to them, But i would be worried about the last name yeah. Best chance is to just email them i guess :/

      • Same thing happened to me :( They combined the first and middle name together and Surname is missing a letter..have emailed them to ask them to rectify

        • UPDATE: They rectified the spelling error in their booking confirmation PDF but on the airline's website, the mistake is still there. Looks dodgy and unprofessional.

        • +1

@thewan: I don't know how these people keep their job, they are incompetent. I am convinced they are based in India or Philippines with a very limited understanding of English. They emailed me back saying they fixed the error, but in fact it was still exactly the same. I let them know yet again, and they sent an image of the ticket and it finally looks like it has been rectified. But the emails are very poorly written, and they even used a completely different name on the letterhead to the name on the ticket (not that that matters, just strange). Really silly stuff. This promotion is almost more hassle than it is worth, but I think everything is finally sorted now.

        • @nubzy: Thanks for letting me know. I have emailed them back. I think I will be safer to contact the airline directly to check the name.

        • @thewan: Let me know how you go, just checked online too and it has the merged first and middle name. Unbelievable.

        • @happychild100: Contacted the airline (AirAsia) to verify the name, guess what? They didn't change it. However, AirAsia was happy to change the name without fees which surprised me but they cannot send the confirmation letter and to get it from Inspire. Don't want to contact them. I think it's sorted now but will check again with AirAsia a few weeks before travel.

        • @thewan: Glad you got it sorted! Somehow i'm not really liking my chances but I guess i'll try Virgin directly anyway, Inspire never replied to me this time..

  • +4

Qantas to Auckland over a long weekend with complementary wine for 50 bucks, best deal ever :)

  • -4

I think despite some initial issues this promotion has been well run. It could've been easier but a promotion of this scale is tough to run.

I'm really happy to have been offered my flights!

    • So you ended up getting flights after they initially rejected it because you only provided a driver's license?

  • what happens if i click "i don't like this offer"?

  • As expected, received this email:

We have checked your application in our system. We regret to inform that your application has been rejected due to wrong document uploaded.

Based on 3 destination selected, two of them are for international travel, Christchurch and Wellington.

As for any international travel, passport are required to be presented during the application process. However, the one that was uploaded in the Website was your driver's license. Driver's license is accepted but only for domestic travel.

Thus, we're sorry to inform that your application has been rejected and unable to process again.

    • +1

I'm going to fight this. Why are some people able to resend their documents and not me? Ridiculous! Plus it's their mistake for not stating clearly, not mine!

      • After many back and forth those dodgy bxxxxxds still reject my offer to to upload my documents. Any suggestion? Thanks

        • Return your wine for a refund and thank someone you don't have to continue dealing with these idiots.

        • @midlake:

Nope, they just stopped replying my emails. Will call stoneleigh probably some time next week.

Inspire flights are a bunch of scums.

  • +1

I haven.t heard anything so called today and was told it had been rejected as I uploaded my driver.s license not my passport.

No emails at all to say this.

Have called Stoneleigh in Australia who said they will have someone call me back.

    • Let us know how it goes. I suspect I'm in the same situation.

      • I got an email from Inspire UK basically saying the same thing as.the call centre. Ie. Invalid as no passport uploaded.

Will try call Stoneleigh (Pernod) again tomorrow.

        • Had any luck contacting Pernod or any feedback regarding this as I am in the same boat so wondering who to harass as have nothing to lose

        • @GDogg:
I.ve had three emails from Inspire UK all just quoting their terms and conditions. Will try Pernod again next week.

        • @jasonc74:
Finally got a phone call from Inspire rather than an email. Lady quoted terms and conditions but eventually asked me to forward a copy of my passport via email.

  • They asked people to post the original receipt so it would actually be a bit difficult to return the wine for a refund, unless the store is ok with a photocopy.

I can't understand why they were not more careful about they worded the instructions and are now being so difficult, surely the point of this promo is to generate good word of mouth about stoneleigh, I feel like they are generating just as much bad publicity.

  • I sent mine registered on 19th March and have heard diddly squat from them. I know they got it via tracking. Has anyone who sent it later in March heard anything yet?

    • I sent mine Express Post on 19th, it arrived the following day. Have heard nothing.

  • +1

Emailed them this morning saying I haven't heard anything and received the drivers lic vs passport email, told application was rejected and it's too late to send passport scan through.

From Perth this should never have been an option as we had to pick three destinations and only had three, one of which was international. Confusing, annoying, disappointed.

    • +1

Same, have been fighting a few days, they're not budging. Here's the latest reply.

We do make it clear that a passport is required for international travel, ID is only mentioned during the application process and not in the terms and conditions to which you agreed. We have not introduced new conditions but we have as a gesture of goodwill and without precedent, in certain individual cases allowed the late submission of the correct documentation ( or the submission of an additional domestic destination).

      • I am in same situation having uploaded drivers licence rather than passport so wondered if you were getting anywahere with this?

        • Nope, they just stopped replying my emails. Will call stoneleigh probably some time next week.

Inspire flights are a bunch of scums.

  • for those that have gotten a flight offer how much longer do you have to wait once you accept it to get the confirmation email? I wish to start booking my hotels in NZ asap before prices rise. so far so good I happy with the process and flight offers we received.
