Hey all!

Just sharing another exclusive credit card deal, this time for the American Express Velocity Escape Card which usually doesn’t offer any bonus points.

Core features of this card

  • 12,500 bonus Velocity points when you spend $750 within 3 months of card activation (enough points to fly Syd to Melb in Premium Economy)
  • Purchase rate of 20.74% p.a.
  • $0 annual fee for life
  • Earn 2 Velocity Points per $1 spent with Virgin Australia
  • Earn 1 Velocity Point per $1 spent everywhere else
  • No points cap
  • Balance transfer offer of 0% p.a. for 12 months with 1% balance transfer fee (note: balance transfer limit is 70% of approved credit limit) - reverts to purchase rate of 20.74% p.a.

Eligibility criteria

  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Must earn at least $40,000 per year
  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or hold a current Business Long Stay Visa (subclass 457)

    Probably not worth it to get this card and exclude yourself from any Amex bonus point promotions for the next 18 months for just 12500 velocity points

      But this card is free fee for life. So its a free credit card with rewards points for life!!

        It's not Interest Free I'm guessing… So you'll be paying Interest on everything you buy until you pay it down.

          Like any credit card, if you pay the bill before the due date then you don't pay any interest. I don't see how people don't get this.

          If you can't afford to pay the bill at the end of the month, you should probably consider not having a credit card. Don't spend money you don't have.

          It's not about if you're rich or poor, it's about not racking up debt that you can't afford pay off.

          I don't know anyone who chooses a particular credit card based on how low the interest rate is. You're better off getting a personal loan instead!

          I knw there are some cards that include an Interest Free Period, but not all to my knowledge. Happy to stand corrected though. I am no expert on this.

          FYI having followed the link this offer has up to 55 days interest free…

          @scubacoles: All credit cards have interest free days. I don't know any credit cards that charges interest straight after purchase?

          i do believe there cards with no interest free days(at least when i was at the bank) but cant remember which one… but yes most do have interest free days.

      Was my first thought.

      There are better no annual fee credit cards out there more widely accepted than amex and the 100k points deals from Amex velocity offers more points for my money.

      I'd gladly pay the $400 annual fee for the 87500 point difference, than to spend the $80k+ using this Amex card to get the same number of points.
