If you’re very concerned about privacy and security, NordVPN has your back. Their double VPN tech encrypts your traffic twice, there’s a strict no logging policy in place, the NordVPN client will automatically stop all communications if the connection to the VPN drops, DNS leaks are a thing of the past, and you can even pay with Bitcoin.

Of course, VPNs aren’t particularly useful if they’re slow and restrictive, right? NordVPN delivers fast and easy-to-use service from servers in 61 countries. Even if you’re using peer-to-peer services for large files, you won’t suffer from a slow, throttled connection. The entire process is smooth from tip to tail.

  • Access 3359 servers worldwide
  • No logs policy
  • Connect 6 devices at the same time
  • 30-day money-back guarantee

Normally, the three-year plan lists at $430.20, but when you use coupon code “3ydeal” during checkout, the price will drop down to just $99 — only $2.75 a month – the lowest price we’ve ever seen from NordVPN.

And since NordVPN accepts Bitcoin for payment, it’s easier for political dissidents and whistle blowers to get VPN access. It’s not perfectly anonymous, but it’s a valuable option for those who need VPNs the most.

Note: Terms and conditions apply. See the NordVPN site for more information.

Mod 21/8: Unexpired deal, updated with second code 'olympics' (thanks BradleyDS2) and updated approx exchange rates.

Tbh, don't know why people need VPNs. Does anyone here have an actual use case other than "russians" and the typical western propaganda?

    • +2

To avoid Optus throttling your connection anytime you use it for anything other than reading the newspaper.

    • online shopping.

      • If connecting to an insecure wi-fi (say when travelling), hopping on to a VPN secures your connection albeit less of a problem now that most sites are https.
      • Some sites are using geolocation to offer deals. Example from NZ I wrote about
      • Some sites block non-country based connections. Happened a couple of times in SG.
      • App stores for different countries have different prices. Connecting to the Google Play store with a VPN for that country will show you the prices.
      • While I use a Smart DNS, if travelling and want to access Hulu (geoblocked to US only), I just connect via VPN.

People worry about the government easedropping. It's actually the private businesses who reveal little bits of information about everyone. Putting them all together you can find out a lot about a person. For example, Strawberry Net.

      • Fair points, guess I just didn't see the use of them because I didn't need one.

Are you aware that the Australian Government collects every single piece of metadata you generate whilst online and holds it for a period of two years?

Or that there has been repeated unlawful uses of the metadata database beginning a mere six weeks after the legislation came into effect?

And I guess also probably believe that your opinion cannot be steered by the government via marketing as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't, most Australian's are ignorant of this. They also continue to vote in the Liberal and Labour Parties which is against their own interests unless they're 20% of the population.

      • -2

Yeh, I did know that but it was never something I really considered invasive enough to need to guard against.

    • +3

The Stasi would say - if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.

Privacy is worth preserving for its own sake. Your browsing habits are no business of the government, however benign your online activities.

I hate that saying. As the great Edward Snowden said “Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say.”

And I do agree privacy is worth preserving, I just can't justify sinking $127 into this as a uni student considered that usually more than a weeks pay for me :/

  • Finally a decent deal from Nord.

  • Anyway to use this when I already have an annual subscription?

    This works for us Netflix?

    • +1

Yep. I've subscribed for that very reason.

      • Thanks!

  • My-bad - missed the CODE

  • Is Nord better than Private Internet Access?

    • +1

      PIA is significantly faster.

      • +2

PIA operates in a 5/9/14 Eyes country (USA) if that is of concern. NordVPN does not (Panama)

      • Damn, thought I had found a replacement for my provider. Pia was really slow for me, using expressvpn now.

      • I average 6-8Mb/second on the Australian Nord servers when using USENET/NZB. Streaming Youtube/Netflix in 4K is also never an issue.

      • PIA proxy server mostly does not work for me, however NordVPN works fine.

  • It also works for BBC iPlayer

  • +2

    It's actually USD …

I used my AMEX because I thought it was AUD.

    • Omg you are right. So sorry. Title corrected.

  • How many devices can you use this at the same time? Eg phone with desktop pc get online same time with same account?

    • I was wondering the same. Cyberghost allows you 5 but you to configure a router and it counts as one device.

  • Any suggestions on providers based in countries which are not part of information sharing agreements like *eyes?

    • +2

NordVPN operates from Panama, which is not a *Eyes country

This is a very good deal for one of the best VPNs available.

  • Is NordVPN better than IPVanish ?

  • been using this since 2016. works for me

  • Yes! Been waiting for a deal so I can watch more Netflix (haha)

  • Great timing OP! I'm in Singapore on holiday and it's p*ssing down rain right now. I can stay inside and watch all my fave Aussie TV shows on my lappy. Room service and Gogglebox is on its way!

  • Does anyone have thoughts on NORD Vpn vs Express VPN?

  • I’m currently looking into VPN.

    My list:
    ExpressVPN
    IPVanish
    Private Internet Access
    NordVPN

Not sure on which to go for.
    Any help?

  • Thanks op pity I got ripped by PayPal on the currency exchange I selected my cc like I always do and normally I can select use cc exchange rate instead of PayPal but a different screen can up and the payment went through cost me an extra ~$6😡 Wonder if I can cancel and do the payment again I shouldn’t have used PayPal.

  • Does anyone know if the 28% Cashrewards works on the 2 or 3 year subscriptions?

  • +1

Can't seem to post a new deal as NordVPN are banned for sockpuppeting, but I just received a renewal email with a generic code for $89 instead of their usual $99 for 3 years.

    Code: nordvpn89LC

    Link: https://ucp.nordvpn.com/change-plan/?utm_campaign=3y_upgrade…

    • Thanks still deciding on nord vs express but nord is like half the price of express -_-

Trying to get lower pings to overseas for gaming or to have higher speeds for no stutter or lag when watching streams.

  • This deal ends in 6 hours, 8pm AEST according to the their website.

I got it paying US$99 via PayPal. PayPal converted it to AU$142.91, which is - as usual - one terrible converson rate, but I couldn't be sure if I should be sharing my CC deets.

  • Nice deal but it's expired 😣 I just missed the boat!

  • Stacksocial has this deal for USD $99 - only has 20 hours left though ;) https://stacksocial.com/sales/nordvpn-3-yr-subscription
