  • $699 for a Zotac model in January but due to a resurgence in mining the prices of 1080's are now around $780~799

Prices may remain high until there's a crash in the currency or until Nvidia / AMD decides to increase production.

      The good ol days

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/335592

      :,(

I don't have any hope for them to drop any time within 6 months

    • A few months ago I managed to get a 1060 for $240: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/340295

Then earlier this year I got a 1080 for $690 from one of the eBay 20% off deals.

Then I sold my 1060 for $340 making the cost of the 1080 $590.

      Love this site!

From what I've heard, they will not increase production, rather they will decrease production because the gtx 20xx series is meant to be out next month so they will focus on that, and hopefully they will be sold closer to MSRP pricing. But the 10 series will probably stay high until a crypto market crash.

      • I heard July….

        • Got a source? I'd be interested to see it. My info is several weeks old so it could very well have changed. or maybe its just an announcement in April, and then in stores July…

        • Thanks, this info is more up to date so looks like July/August :( Bugger.

        • @Riczter: Yeah I wish it was April! My 780 just died so kinda screwed lol.

        • @JAKEBAB:

          Tried baking it?

        • @c0balt: aio leaked, the entire back is corroded, been limping along for the past yr or 2 but it finally decided to let go the other day :/

and a fake ebay sale aint gonna help.

    • +2

Seems like a real sale if this is still the cheapest on the market delivered and in stock.

      • -3

u buy them then and your little fans. Cheaper to ship one in from abroad……and warranty is just as good if reputable seller

        • +2

Feel free to post those better deals with global warranty then m8.

        • For ozbargain rule chuggers - u must be on something. This ain't a bargain -its technically a deal, and that's it.

        • its not cheaper…

I just bought this from scorptek for $2069, becuase it wasnt cheaper elsewhere.
Sure the prices look cheaper on other sites, but factor in , eg GST 10% on the TR ( becuase its over $1k ) + 2 separate delivery fees of ~50$ each, and you get just slightly less…

almost like the Aus sellers know this and price just a little bit higher becuase they have to honour local warranties…

          TR 1950X 1338
          CPU cooler -120
          X399 taichi - 475
          2x4G DDR4 - 140

this "sale" would have saved me only ~$120, because of the price jack, but its still $120 !
Im still a little sore :(

  • Is there any company not raising prices?

They will be the company I buy my next card from.

    • I'd just assume they were idiots in this market. Try selling at last years prices and they're just going to get scalped and put on Ebay in 5 minutes flat.

    • Just you wait until the RRP is released on 20XX series cards - I bet NVIDIA will be cashing in on the high demand.

    • Is there any company not raising prices?

Is this a serious question? So you have no idea on how our country operates?

They will be the company I buy my next card from.

So a company that loses money is the one you want to deal with in the future? LoL

      • no need to be a dick.

I know how it operates. Doesn't mean I'm OK with companies alienating the consumers that have supported their business for years.

IMO they should be doing more to ensure gamers can get a decently priced GPU.

        • I know how it operates. Doesn't mean I'm OK with companies alienating the consumers that have supported their business for years.

What bollocks. How are they alienating the consumers? There is more demand for a product and supplies cannot keep up plus they are charging over to a new product which requires production to halt for a period of time.

IMO they should be doing more to ensure gamers can get a decently priced GPU.

What would you like them to do? Give a realistic solution to this problem.

        • @Maverick-au:
Cards are literally too expensive for anyone but miners.
The same consumers who have bought graphics cards from ASUS,Gigabyte etc are priced out of the new generation of cards.

          Realistic solution?
Actually enforce 1 per customer purchases.
Cancel duplicate orders on the same:
          -Credit card
          -To same address
          -Same email/account etc

        • @mavis30551:

Cards are literally too expensive for anyone but miners

Why? If you want one pay for it.

The same consumers who have bought graphics cards from ASUS,Gigabyte etc are priced out of the new generation of cards.

They're not priced out but the price is higher.

          -Credit card
          -To same address
          -Same email/account etc

How is this realistic, how many retailers are there across Australia? So you've just limited sales to 5000+ cards per person.

          How about a realistic solution?

Personally would only buy one second hand of gumtree.. no more than 400 AUD delivered. Even if it is used it should still run fine.

I am a professional gumtree user now at this point it's the nirvana and heaven for well experienced ozbargainers.

    • Never found one on gumtree close to $400, are you serious!

      • -6

You need to learn to haggle haha lol that's all I'm gonna tell ya.. many attempts but have seen some go down that low.

        • Cheers… Agressive downvotes for aggressive haggling haha

        • -1

@blewey: lol that's fair.. wasn't expecting upvotes for those comments.. whistleblowers don't really get much positive cred for exposing haha lol

        • @AlienC: You must be the guy who keeps spamming me for my brand new gtx 1080ti for $200 DELIVERED.

    • +4

You sound like one of the many people who messaged me when I was selling my 1060 3GB.

"Bruh, it's worth $250 - sell it to me for that!"

Sold for $340 and graphics cards have gone up since then!

      • Don't get me started… Trying to get rid of my aldi 4k tv which is fetching the same offers

      • 1/10 don't mind it and will throw you a bone sometimes but yeah it's just like the dating scene try and try again. Persistence pays off and its all I got haha lol.

        • People like you are why I don't sell on gumtree!

Offers are ok, but if they aren't realistic (typically they aren't), I rip the sht out of the fool that made the offer. Because that's what they deserve.

        • @justtoreply: like I said 1/10.. yeah I am not realistic or I take things way too far like Ozbargaining.

    • +2

Anything I have ever gotten off gumtree is trash. Unless its someone honest by luck, you get fooled by people and end up with defective products. Most recently bought a 27 inch LCD screen which after 2 days of operation started showing a massive green tint on nearly half of the screen. The guy refused to take it back saying it was fine when you took it and he is not obliged to refund me anything. Ended up dumping it - 150 down the drain. Id say never go gumtree for electronics, for furniture its ok.

Ask him how he'd like it if half his front window didn't work. Ie: because someone put a monitor through it.

  • Didn't realise until just now how many bad reviews shopping express/futu had recently on product review…………….

    So thanks

  • 1080’s are terrible for mining, given that their hash rate to cost ratio is poor, and there’s basically no chance that someone will earn their money back. GPU mining bitcoin was ruined by ASIC miners, whilst Ethereum will go Proof Of Stake soon (which means it’s no longer mined) whilst the difficulty rapidly increases in the interim, eating away at your revenue.

Even the better “ratio” GPU’s like 1060’s, RX570/80’s will struggle with ROI.

    • -1

I thought the mining line was a bit of an excuse to jack prices, whilst keeping supply down. There's only REAL money in these cards when they're within 25% of rrp for the manufacturers - and of course no pressure to bring out new products. Monopoly or duopoly is the name of this game, and these days people believe any old shit.
