with the extra storage you can store movies about places you would have holidayed in and not have to wait in line at immigration, customers, etc.

and flesh always looks better in 4k and 1080p than 720p, and that needs more storage.

P.S flesh as in David Attenborugh docos which are socially acceptable viewing.

Who on earth would buy the MX300 just to save $5?

Mind telling why to the technologically uninformed?

According to a quick Google search, performance on the MX500 is about 30% better than on the MX300.

The MX500 might (could be wrong) use newer controller and possibly chip dies. Any efforts for new firmware would be towards the MX500 and not the MX300.

But that said … I'm still running some MX100 drives without any issues.

This is Amazon USA price with local delivery, local supplier, gets my vote.

    Looks like that's the Mini?

    • Yes it is, my bad :) Have removed it from the post, was having trouble getting the eBay link to work so I must have forgotten to remove it. Thank you!

  • Good deal on the 500, local stock at the same price as the Amazon "deal" posted earlier. Shame they are out.

  • Just bought the 500gb after getting lost in the internet trying to work out if an M.2 NVME was worth it or not - what a mission. Bit sad the 1TB has sold out, that's an awesome price.

    • In day to day usability you won't notice a difference between a super speedy M.2 NVME drive and a SATA3 solid state drive but it's cool when you are using it for benchmarks. I like the big numbers.

      • Yeah that's where I got to as well, I wanted the latest and greatest as I'm building a gaming pc for the first time in ages but it's using slightly older parts and the motherboard (Z97) won't support PCI-e 3.0 so wouldn't get the most from it anyway. 500gb for the price of 256gb wins out!

        • Yeah the downside to M.2 SSDs is that if you buy a non-NVME one (a SATA M.2 drive) then it actually removes the ability to use 2 of your SATA ports on your motherboard. On some boards even if it is an NVME one they still disable the 2 SATA ports :( Not really worth the tradeoff I reckon.
