    V10 released yet ?

    • +4

      http://shop.dyson.com.au/vacuum-cleaners/dyson-cyclone-v10-a…

      Pre-order Friday, 16 March.
      Available Friday, 6 April.

    • +9

I would argue to wait until the V10 is available for purchase.

The V8 prices will likely drop after that point, most likely in the same ballpark as current V6 pricing and the V10 will take the place of the V8 as the flagship cordless vacuum.

      • +2

        where does V7 sits ?

        it's like gtx 1060 , 1070 Ti , 1080

        • +1

The V7 sits obviously inbetween the V6 and V8. Its a mix of both in terms of tech. It uses the V6 motor but has the V8's bin design so better overall ergonomics.

      • +2

no way. V8 wont be priced at 300-400$. it will stay over $500 and the V10 will be $800-1k

        • Thats entirely possible. Time will tell. I still think the V8 pricing will drop, probably not as much as the V6 though. But I think the V8 will likely be sub-$500 on these 20% off specials.

The V6 will likely be discontinued and the V7 takes its place in the $300-$400 range. So they keep the V7, V8 and V10 as their 3 primary models.

      • Can you advise me as to what your opinion is regarding the pricing of V6 Absolute post V10 release?

I am having difficulty resisting this deal, but my family is all advising me to wait, just as you say. I don't want to wait too long because I am in desperate need of a decent vacuum. If someone can predict with confidence that the V6 Absolute will drop to around $400 within a month, that will convince me to pass on this offer.

    • +5

The V10 does seem to have some reasonably significant improvements over the V8, but obviously that comes at a cost. Currently getting by with a V6 but an upgrade would be very handy and beneficial. Ah, decisions, decisions :)

      • +1

I'm planning to leap from v6 to v10 mainly because of the weight distribution change. (But with a small house it might be a while yet unless my v6 breaks as it does the job just fine)

      • +2

I am still rocking a DC59 which was the flagship before the V6 was released. I will likely jump from the DC59 to the V8 when the V10 is released.

The V10 has 20% better suction and more battery life over the V8 but I just dont feel that alone is enough to entice me. And you can bet it will be very expensive. The V8 will be the better bang for buck.

        • True, but also has 50% better battery life, a 40% larger bin (maybe easier cleaning too) and an arguably more ergonomic design that may run quieter. I agree with you of course it's all about bang for buck and the V8 would be a more than competent vac for our needs and make a nice step up from the V6. Cheers.

        • +1

@Global Nomad: For me the DC59 is already fine in battery life and bin size, I have an regular sized apartment so overall floor area is not significant. I think the biggest draw for me is the bin emptying system on the V8, so much more better than the DC59/V6. Plus more suction power definitely wont hurt.

      • +2

        Half the weight.

And the v10 looks to have a better way of emptying. The v8 emptying, although new, is still awful.

I have a v8 and am now regretting my purchase with the v10 release.

        • +2

What part is hard with the opening of the V8?

        • +1

          @spriggan43:

I really can't describe it very well. It's hard to open and hard to get back in. And you will be in the middle of a dust cloud as a result

        • @justtoreply: bummer to hear that.

        • @justtoreply: I like the way the v8 opens, sure the first time I opened it, I didnt understand the relation of the door and where i needed to place it over the bin. So I had to vacuum twice :)

The v10 looks like you need to remove the stick to empty the bin.

    Nice 1st post OP

  • +1

    Love this machine!

  • whys my youtube subbox filled with a vacuum cleaner

    • +3

They're sellouts and will promote anything for money

  • +1

Finally. Been waiting for this post for quite some time.

    Thanks OP!

  • Expect more deals on the V6 and V8's now that the V10 has been launched.

  • I didn't realise the DC58 was renamed v6… Now i've got 2 of the same… is the v8 just a renamed version of another Animal DC model?

  • V10 looks way better. Don't buy this, at least wait for the new one to come out for better sales on this inferior version.

    • -3

      Wait for the V12.

  • are those v6 motorised attachments compatible with v8?

    • As a straight swap, no. I don't know if there's an adapter.

  • +1

Good vacuum, almost a total replacement for a plug in (for us anyway)

The downside is that max power only lasts about 8 minutes. That's fine to do our house using low power on floorboards and then max power to run over the bedroom carpets.

But its not enough time when doing a bigger clean like sliding window sills etc. Wish you could plug it in and run it from mains, then it would be perfect.

  • why not shell a probably 30% - 40% more.. for V10 as it gives 60 mins of usage and a proper combo of handheld and full blown vacuum ?

    • It's 60 min of usage in low power mode which is new in V10, there is only 2 mode in V8 afaik. Choice reviewed 9 minutes of runtime in max same as V8. And 26 minutes in medium settings.

  • -1

v10 is coming and its immensely better.

    • and $999 price to match. You could get 2 V6 models and still be $400 better off.

      • +1

999 rrp, should get it for around $700-750 easy. And if you use the vacuum everyday for 4 years before replacing with the next one, it's not that much money per day.

        • You vacuum every day?

        • +2

          @dtc:
this used to be a foreign concept to me too but ever since getting a dyson, I've been doing it once every 2-3 days rather than once a week/month/whenever I was bothered. I used to only vacuum when I deemed it "too dirty" and needed a vacuum urgently.
Now the vacuum is just mounted in my room I would just whip it out, vacuum the floors and be done in a minute or two. Occasionally would bring out all the attachments and do a proper clean of the house but overall its still so much more convenient to vacuum now.

  • +3

    Pulled the trigger, thanks Op

  • Does the V8 can be docked into a V6 wall mount?

    • +1

      Nevermind. It can't.

  • would have bought if not for v10 announcement. 60min battery and twice the bin size is enough reasons to wait.

    • if ur ready pay $999

    • who takes longer than 40mins to clean their home per day? i struggle to try and finish the 40min battery on my V8 in our 3br home

  • Anyone having problems doing click and collect from TGG eBay? Ive tried about 10 times, I select the store, then it complains about having an issue delivering to a PO Box. No mention of the store pickup anywhere.

    • It didn't work on my phone but works fine on computer.

      • Worked it out, I had to select a street address, then it would show the pickup option. Crap eBay programming.

        • I think it could be for identity reasons for when pickup. I did a C&C at TGG previously and they asked for a driver's license to verify identity and also correct address. It was strange they needed to check the address too but could be why a PO Box didn't work

        • @jingy: Yeah might be some method to their madness. They need to put a message on that page to say it needs to be a physical address to continue.

  • Bit the bullet and bought one - Thanks OP. My V6 Slim has been almost good enough to replace the main vac, but now the V8 will definitely do the job.

Wont need a V10 and wont want to spend $800-1000 which is probably where they will sit price wise.

  • +2

I got an email from a Nigerian prince selling brand new V9 for a dirt cheap price. Tempting
