I think c250 amg might be a few grand cheaper

        • +14

          That’s not an AMG.

        • +6

@LoopyLou: C63 is an AMG. C43 is an AMG Lite. That C250 is an AMG wannabe or try-hard.

          Can anyone top this?

        • +8

@pennypincher98: I could if I actually spoke my mind.

        • @pennypincher98:
I still think that was a trolling post and no one is actually that vain that they're better than anyone else waiting.

        • @linton: Haha to be fair, it's kind of like being in the queue at Coles/Woolies buying a loaf of bread behind someone who has got a trolley load. But even this isn't a fair comparison as they have to make the coffee, it's not like they are just getting a frozen coke.
I can see the OP's point, but I don't exactly agree with it.

Saw an AMG pulling a box trailer. Talk about thug life!

      • +1

Or the Lambo towing a box trailer… https://goo.gl/images/MdNVuq

      • I'll bet it normally tows a jet ski. Doing laps through Cavill Ave.

      • Stolen car, hired trailer haha.

      • I saw a guy in a late model Volvo XC90 carrying some Matt Blatt furniture in boxes on his roof recently. The problem was they were not sitting on the roof racks, they were tied with the side of the box flush to the paintwork. To add insult, I figure he picked them up from Alexandria and was driving through the harbour tunnel, so it wouldn't have been too short a trip.

Just check the price for the 2017 model, Prices range from $85888 to $114900.

Hi, an investment analyst here. Do you think this is a good buy to drive the girlfriend around and to'fit in' with the culture? I'm not looking to impress anyone, but I want everyone to go "wow we should promote him immediately".

      Thanks

      • +9

First impressions count and if your condition allows you to, why not?

      • +4

Make sure you run a tight ship financially. Downside is you might have the dilemma of choosing between car washes or smashed avo on toast.

    • +2

To clear things up, WIB doesn't have investment bankers and most people below directorship aren't paid that well, even after bonuses.

      • how much the institutional guys below director level getting paid? I would have guessed close to 150k+?

        • Senior managers will be on over $100k but getting to that level can take 5-15 years depending on skill, department and location (much like any other company).

Working in an institutional bank is overglorified. Yes, the clients are much bigger than their commercial banking counterparts but the salaries don't, of course, grow proportionately.

        • Hi there, domestic banks do not pay. They are facing disruption (tech, regulatory, market (ie hpi v. Income growth), competition (esp. jpy, french,us,cad banks)) and are under pressure to keep costs down. Being part of an oligopoly, they need processors not talent, its a captive marketplace. Hence they cannot compete for nor does talent seek out these firms-if talented are graduating into a bad market, grads will stay at said banks for the absolute least amount of time. The highly paid represent a handful of individuals, whoose titles/positions are turned over frequently in line with who has the political upper hand. Mac bank is an exception to these comments.

Simply thinking of cash when entering such positions is fatal, as those that have a true passion for analytics/finance/law sail away from those hungry for short term cash. They simply dont have intellectual curiosity and hence get stuck in their roles being beholden to institutional 'career management'/gaslighting.

    • I have started hating this <bleeping> joke so much. The first hundred times, I chuckled. The next hundred times, I had a slight smile. The thousand times since, I cringe and want to commit murder at this attempt to beat the dead horse and farm "upvotes".

    • +1

The new Camry SL V6 is pretty nice @ $44k +orc.

      • +2

Doesn't look too bad either and if the new V6 is anything like the Aurion's, it sorta goes too.

        • +3

It's better than the Aurion. 18kW better!

      • +2

New Camry Ascent Sport Hybrid is my pick.

Wouldn’t mind a couple of classic Toyota’s. The 2000GT has to be one of the nicest Toyota’s ever.

For something a little more modern maybe the V12 Century

    • And don’t forget Cashrewards!

    • Try using 8-Twelve for best price…remember to disable Location Settings though.

  • There's one thing I find kind of funny… the 320 and 330 have the same physical engine… the difference is that the tune is diffferent so the 320 gets 135kW/270Nm and the 330 gets 185kW/350Nm.

    • +1

      Get the 330 :)

    • +16

Think the struts diameter is different so are the brake sizes. Not that it matters to most people…

        • +16

Thanks for the neg regardless. Yeah alright I know jack shit about cars, feel better now?

        • +6

If you don't care about strut diameter you must be a cat lady.

    • +2

Yeah, nearly 20 years ago they worked out it was cheaper to make fewer engine models and detune it for the smaller cars.

This is the 2 litre inline 4 engine. It’s a bit shit to be honest.

      • +3

185kW/350Nm, 0-100km/h under 6s and under 6L/100km. What so shit about it?

        • +5

          @nhand42:
"It's not the size that matters, it's how you use it." ;-)

        • +5

          @Kampfer:

That's what all the people with small engines say.

Inline 4 has vibration problems which limits engine size. They add turbos to boost the stats to something more like a real engine but turbo brings its own problems. Motoring enthusiasts generally don't like inline 4. For somebody buying a 320 or 330 probably doesn't matter, they wouldn't even know what engine they're getting. They probably care more about the paint colour or the seat leather.

But it was just a throwaway comment. Didn't think it was that contentious. Thought it was pretty well known that 2 litre inline 4 is boring as batshit.

        • @nhand42:
I'm pretty sure lot of motoring enthusiasts love their WRX/STI, EVO, Golf GTi/R, Honda TypeR, AMG A45, etc…

        • +18

          @Kampfer:

          WRX/STI

          Boxer engine. Not inline.

          Sheesh.

        • -4

lame, even my Kia will leave it way behind

        • Kia Stinger V6 would dust it easily but the 2.0 turbo? Probably not.

        • +2
