          Nope, oils degrade over time, even whilst sitting still doing nothing.
          I have opened many small intricate mechanical devices (not watches, another profession) that have a synthetic lube (mineral lube is a million times worse) that has slowly turned turned to a glue type substance, greases that have become like blu-tack.

          you bring up an interesting point @snuke - I've had a maurice lacroix since 2010 or so as a graduation gift to myself coming into the workforce.

          I always wondered what the 'interval' for servicing is. And what exactly do you do? I've never taken one in and don't want to get fleeced? Do i take it to a proper maurice lacroix authorised dealer in Perth - which I assume is very rare and probably one in the whole city? And what work will they do/charge me for, roughly how much would it cost given the RRP here last i saw it in a jewelry store was $2.7k. Probabyl got it on discount a tad closer to 1.6k though overseas. SO just curious how much upkeep costs?

          I have no idea about upkeep - perhaps i shoudl stick to my quartz watches haha. do they need servicing ? or do you generally just run them till the movements break?

          There are probably a few ML dealers in Perth, I doubt a single one of them service it. Most major watch brands have their own service centre by their distribution, and that is where a dealer will send it.

          I have a couple of Oris watches, and like most brands, their spare parts can only be officially obtained by the official distributor. A bit of BS from Swatch etc in restricting who can service your watch fully, if spares are required. It really should be illegal, and a campaign to stop this was done a few years ago, but didn’t get the desired results.
          Find a local watch repair place, a watchmaker style repairer obviously, not a Mr Mint etc…
          One of my Oris broke a main spring, I sure as hell did not take it to be repaired by Oris Aus, as I know full well I would be raped. They all have a culture of replacing far more than should or is needed and know they are the only official place to get parts, so have a monopoly. As brands like yours and mine really just use slightly (if at all) modified ETA movements, spares are really easy to access from watch repair places.
          Have a Google on local watch repair places, read their Google reviews. My service including parts was $450 or $500, I think without parts it would have been $350 as their standard service cost for an automatic day date movement.
          I got both of my Oris models for cost price, and realised that two services cost more than my TT3, and 3 services for Aviation Big Crown Crono. Quartz movements seemed quite appealing after that.

    Please note Jomashop will not ship watches with alligator leather band to Australia due to their prior custom issues. I had ordered one once and had been told either I get it without the band or I get a refund, no options of changing to other leather too.

      There are heaps that look like that. Amazon (Casio GA search) is the best place to look although it's changing all the time what will ship here.

          No mate, that's because of the way he puts it. I wouldn't buy fashion watches myself, but I would refrain from commenting on things I care little about. Similarly, I won't upvote these "bargains" either.

          These alongside Wengers, modern Bulovas, etc (IMO) are fashion watches. And as you've learnt from the negs, there's a huge market and following.

          Just take a deep breath and be happy for them.

    I've been going through the watch list and am a little confused as it's proving hard to find these watches being sold for their original RRP anywhere - even from the reference websites PJC put on the list.
    Are these heavy discounts the norm for this brand?

    for example:

    certifiedwatchstore.com themselves have this model listed at $198 and RRP as $495

      US$495 is AU$628.70. Certified Watch Store's website does not ship to Australia but their eBay store does. Therefore I listed an Amazon offer which ships to Australia.
