    Not really a bargain, considering you have to install all the software, bios, and OS your self.
    And only 8GB ram.

      i havent seen anything better at that price. Windows you can get pretty cheaply depending on how dodgy you want to go.

      I dont think you have to install any 'bios' and installing the software you need to use by 'yourself' is normal unless you have an IT butler or something.

        If I remember correctly, Jbhifi have a deal last month, Acer, 7700hq with 32 gb ram, 512GB ssd, 2tb hdd, gtx1060 for $1699, with 5% or 10% gift card discount, you can easily bring it under $1600.

          Yeah I went down there and checked that deal out but they were sold out. It was an insane deal if people got one. I had spoken to people in the industry and they were like "How do they do that?" We had a couple of customers have their orders cancelled and came to us afterwards.

          I think you'd have to be pretty delusional to think that a 32Gb 512Gb ssd fully decked out machine for $1,699 is 'normal'…

          it was a once off runout that a few people got very lucky with.

          These people pointing that out werent even bothered enough to visit that thread and see how it worked out…

      Hi there, You can get the laptop made up with Windows 10 installed and all the drivers will also be installed as well. So you just unbox and turn on and off you go.
      Have you come across Metabox laptops before?
      The beauty of them is that you can pick and choose the exact specs that you require so you are not paying for the items that you might already have or don't need. You can save a further $180 if you don't want the 512GB SSD for example.
      We have a lot of customers who prefer to use Linux or are students who can get their own discounted or free copy of Windows 10. So they save on this.

    Sickening to see how some people just see the GPU and price and will spew venom at reps for posting deals.

    Yes, you can get a Dell with a 1060 for $1369 when on special, but it doesn't have an alloy chassis, RGB keyboard lights, has an i5 7300HQ instead of the i7 7700HQ, has an IPS screen that is worse than a decent TN panel, weighs more, has less SSD storage ect ect ect.

Then you go and say that it only has 8GB ram when there was a unicorn of a clearance deal last month that had 16GB of ram and now all laptops should have 16GB of ram otherwise you personally don't think it's a bargain.

      Now you go and say that it's Kong Computers fault that people are calling you on your bullsquirt and it's hurting their image, just because you are getting down voted (rightly so) by the OZB community?

        Where did 16gb came from?

        I had a metabox p64re, I did have to install all software, OS and Bios. I remember vividly i have to install bios twice, cause first time, keyboard wasn't functioning properly.
        That is not misinformation, that is personal first hand experience.

        I have being with ozbargain probably longer than you do. Account creation date dont mean the date i am with ozbargain, if you need to be told of that.

          I'm not the one making posts vilifying a rep because of their ridiculous view on what a deal is. I'm not the one making false statements like you have to install BIOS. If a computer doesn't come with a BIOS, there is no way you could use it.

          Maybe you meant you needed to update your bios? Strange you would have to update it twice to get it to work the same way that it comes out of the box, with a working keyboard. Strange how no where else on the internet can I find people saying they had to update their bios to fix keyboard issues with Clevo/Metabox p64re. You would think there would be a single instance of the same problem existing on the internet, if it was a known problem with the machine.

          16GB comes from you, your first post you said no deal because it had 8GB ram and then your reply to people commenting on it was to quote the Acer Nitro Deal with 16GB RAM. You seem to have a hard time recalling what you say even though it's all on this page?

      Hi Entropy Sky,
      This all escalated quickly. It's hard to know who has bought from us in the past, so thanks for letting me know and for purchasing the P641 from us.
      Since the profit margins are smaller on Metabox laptops, compared to other brands that we sell, we are limited to how much we can offer off on these models.
      We have offered $200 off in the past but that was on more expensive Metabox models (like the P650HS-G) and Metabox have assisted with subsidising us on the discount.
      I hope that explains it.

      The strange thing is, recently we offered $300 off on the Acer Triton 700 laptop and we didn't get one +like or sale on that model for that week. I thought is was a corker of a deal :)
      With this deal, a lot more people have +liked the deal and bought. It's so hard to judge what response you'll get when you upload a deal.

    I bought this same laptop but with a 16gb Ram and Windows 10 installed for around $2200 during the Christmas offer.

    Extremely happy and love the elegant powerhouse. It gets noisy at heavy loads, but it does have class.

    I agree, this is a great deal.

    Bought a 17 incher Metabox laptop from Kong Computers last year. The customer service is nothing short of amazing. The quality of the product is also pretty good. The most important thing is that these guys understand bargain and if you can upgrade a part for cheap they're sure to let you know.

    This is a pretty good deal for a laptop with a decentish spec.
