Seems like it's been this price for a while https://pricehipster.com/?q=Ryobi%202000psi%20Pressure%20Was…

    • +1

      Shows as normal price.

      • +4

Yep it's been this price for ages.

  • +1

How does this compare with the Aldi one coming up on Wednesday?

    • +3

Bought the Aldi one last sale and was not impressed by it … firstly the tile washing attachment came cracked out the box. Next it leaked water from inside the unit when u moved it about whilst washing the car. So ended up returning for a refund.

Would be interested in hearing if the Ryobi unit is any good though.

    • -3

Bunnings: 5m hose, 1 year warranty
Aldi: 10m hose, 3 year warranty

    • I can't see anything on their website under the special buys section, was it in the catalogue?

    • +3

I have never found these cheap high pressure cleaners to be very good.

They have a high psi however the flow rate is not very high.

A friend of mine has a professional cleaner that he uses for work which is rated at a lower pressure but has a higher water flow rate.

It works so much better than the cheap one I got a while ago that I gave mine away.

      • Agree. Most people who buy these pressure washers only look at the pressure figure but the 'water flow rate' is the one that actually does the work.

        • +1

i just looked at the price when i bought mine… haha

      • Good advice. What does your friend recommend?

      • Thanks for the heads up on flow rates. I looked them up:

        Ryobi 1800W/2000PSI: 6.7 L/min
        Aldi Workzone 2200W/2100PSI: 7.5L/min

So the Aldi has a higher (12% more) flow rate — unsure how much difference it would make.

One other factor is Warranty: Aldi 3 years, Ryobi 4 years.

        • +1

Flow rate makes a big difference.

The Aldi one also has a 10m hose and comes with detergent.

I would get the Aldi one for longer house and higher flow rate.
Assuming the Aldi flow rate is not a maximum number which will be higher than operating.

    • +1

I have a pressure washer I got from Masters, the biggest issue is that you cant get attachments for them.

    • +2

I bought the ALDI one last year, I have been really impressed by it. The hose is actually attached to the reel, not the bottom of the unit like other comparable models, such as the Gerni 120, which has a reel that only winds in once disconnected from the bottom of the unit. Very frustrating! The only issue I have had with the ALDI washer is the turbo nozzle has worn down and sprays to the left. However, I discovered that the gerni lance fits into the ALDI trigger, allowing use with all Gerni attachments!

    • The Aldi version two models ago was fantastic - the last one not so good. This Ryobi is probably better than both in my assessment and I bought it because of the price (99 a year ago) warranty and specified volume per minute rate (which is a far more important measure than just the pressure). You can have 2000psi but if it's only running 4 litres a minute it will be useless.

      • The Aldi one coming up says 450l/hr whereas the Ryobi one is 6.7 l/min or 402l/hr?

  • +2

    12,000 BTU's

    • +1

      Is that good or bad

    • +3

Is that about the same BTU's Morpheus tells Neo a human body creates?

      • British Thermal Units. I think it would be the same as Morpheus was talking about.

        • +1

my first thought was "i don't remember that scene in the Matrix"

        • @hermonski: It couldn't hurt to rewatch The Matrix.

  • +4

We've had this unit for 6 months or so. Used about a dozen times? It's our first pressure washer and we've been blown away (ha) by it. Way better than we'd anticipated given the number of people who tell you you have to go a petrol one to get anything useful. Used to clean the driveway, tiles and car. 4 year warranty too

  • Is the pump motor always running even when I am not using it?

    • +1

      No only when on trigger

    • +1

No, only when trigger is pulled

    • +8

No. It has to be plugged in

  • Washed my car with it very happy! Good power no trouble with dirt.

    • -1

Will it strip off bird shit?

I find not even an auto car wash with brush can do that.

      • I've never used this one, but I tried out a 1450 psi one and it took bird shit off the car pretty easily.

        • +1

Dried bird shit? It strips it off completely?

I got bombarded by bird shit one time when I parked under a tree. Took it to an auto car wash, no dice. Then took it to a manual car wash, and the attendant visibly groaned.

          No longer parking under trees.

    • -1

They're not ideal for a car if you care about the paint. It will damage rubber seals too.

      • +2

A pressure washer removes far more dirt from the surface than a hose gun, reducing the amount of dirt being pushed into the paint when following up with hand washing. Pressure washing is only an issue for paint if applied too closely to brittle paint such that the surface lifts and chips off. Getting water stuck in grooves and recesses where there is insufficient drainage, however, is a problem. Some people therefore also follow up with a powerful electric leaf blower or dedicated air drying unit but this is expensive, time consuming and won't get all the water out.

  • +1

    Can it cut through flesh?

5m is not a long hose.

    • unfortunately yes it can. Using this Ryobi and swung it carelessly across my calf muscle and left a bleeding mess!

  • +4

I picked up the ozito for $50 a while back. It broke after 2 hours. I intend on using replacement units until my job is done. Bunnings shouldn't sell something that breaks so easily, hopefully i will single handedly send them broke ;)

    • -1

will never ever buy ozito again.
similar xp as yours but with leaf blower.
used twice over 18m then broke.

      don't buy ozito

      • I honestly expect to break about 10 units. I'm fine with that. I'll keep warrantying it on principle.

So I'm Ok wasting my time on this. $50 for 3 years warranty that I'll get back when it breaks at the end of the job is cheap in terms of dollars

        • After a couple of bad experiences, this is now my approach as well. In future I’m going to use the things as much as I can during the warranty period and take them back when they break. The last pressure cleaner I bought would have only been used for 10 hours (over 5 years) before it broke.

    • My ozitos been getting a good workout iver the last 2w with no issues!

  • +6

    cheap Bidet. I like.

    • +8

So you're the guy they used to call "tightarse"

  • +1

I bought one about 4 months ago. I find it pretty decent. Ryobi has no accessories available for it, which is something to remember. The 5m hose was too short for me so decided to buy a Karcher 10m hose and gun kit that came with an adapter, so I now have access to the Karcher accessory ecosystem. Used Karcher accessories are easy to come by so I'm now fully kitted.

  • +3

Paid $129 for it last time it was posted here. I've used it to get moss etc off outdoor tiles, to strip old paint from a concrete area and clean my deck in preparation for painting so in other words, it has been used for hours on end. I've also used it to wash the exterior of the house, all in preparation for sale and it hasn't missed a beat!

Well worth it for this price!

    • +2

The previous post for the $129 deal, including more attachments such as the patio \ floor cleaner.
I found the floor cleaner to be very effective.

  • Dunno how it compares but I saw the Gerni 105.5 discounted to $79 (from $99) at Bunnings Altona. Assuming they still make them with full metal pumps.

  • +8

Perfect to rid of those Jehovah Witnesses

  • +5

I find that mine hates it when I try and plug the hose into it, it either spits it back out or makes a loud whirring noise like no water is flowing through it.

It's probably possessed by my wife.

    • The pressure side or the supply? In any case, make sure the power is off when you try to plug either hose in. Also, only try and unplug the pressure side hose after turning the unit off and and unplugging the power, and then squeezing the trigger to release the pressure in the hose. It's much easier to unscrew without being pressurised.

      • Supply. Thanks for the tip. I've actually figured it out, I just need to screw it on a little bit, but not so much that the filter attachment breaks.

It was a bit of a hassle running back and forth to the hose tap to turn it off and on.

  • I purchased this earlier from one of the Ozbargain deals which included the floor cleaner and a few attachments.

I was replacing an old Karcher where the hose broke. I wasn't expecting much, and was caught out damaging a few items I was cleaning as a result of the high pressure.
Now a little more responsible, have to say I am happy. A lot more pressure than the 15+ year old Karcher, but the Karcher felt a lot more solid.

I am concerned about where the hose attaches on this unit, it's clear plastic and concerned it may break if I am not careful.

I tried the aldi 2400watt unit at a friends with 2500psi pressure, it was okay nothing to write home about.

If considering between check the flow rates and compare, as Aldi have different pressure washers from time to time.

  • +1

I purchased this late last year and have had no issues with it. Great base model pressure washer for that price. I also remember purchasing it for 99$ but not 100% sure.

Just wondering if anyone has been able to find a foam lancer/gun attachment for this specific model?

  • +2

Does this come with jet, shoot or blast setting? Would love to "hose off" my neighbour's dog with this.

  • +1

It says it includes a hose reel. Bunnings are a bunch of bumblefu<ks. Downloaded the manual and there is not a hose reel in sight.

    • Screenshot and show it to the attentdants at bunnings. Make sure you get it(with the deal) or just say you're gonna fair trade about it

  • how flexible at the hose on these things? I remember dad used to have one and the hose was very rigid and kept on curling which made it a real pain

  • Is this too powerful to wash a car or can the pressure be adjusted?

    • +2

      More power, more better.

      • +1

While a Ryobi might not be skookum as frig, she'll chooch just as well as the rest.

  • +2

as others have said, this is not a bargain. this is the normal price.

  • any links to a foam blaster attachment? thanks

  • -1

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/gerni-classic-1005-high-pressur…

Local bunnings had this in stock for $99 which is a lot better than plastick-y ryobi stuff

  • how loud is this compared to aldi's? I'm currently half deaf from it.

    • Not to bad can talk etc and hear each other whilst standing next to it.

      • really? I thought it sounded like a machine gun.

    • Grabbed a Ryobi from Bunnings recently and used it yesterday, it's pretty noisy.

  • -1

    This is a high-pressure deal.

  • I always want to find one that has a water tank built in so I can use it not near a tap if I need to

    • While they do use very little water a portable tank will be sucked dry pretty quickly. This one using a little less than a 9L bucket a minute. Your best bet would be making a portable water source yourself and grabbing a pressure washer that can draw water rather than requiring mains.

  • Any way to fit an Autobrite foam lance to this unit with an intermediate adapter?

    • LAVOR

      • Do you mean that an Autobrite foam lance to suit Lavor units would fit directly to the hose on this unit? Thanks.

  • I got one today. $99 at Carrum downs. Mine will not suck in any soap/detergent from the what container on the pack. I thinned the detergent down with water and still nothing it sucking up the clear pipe. Anyone else for it to work ?

    • Grab the nozzle and turn it. The part which adjusts the angle the water just under it it lets you turn it to soap mode.
