IMPORTANT NOTICE

I've seen a few people order the Breeze Audio bundle with an S6 sub. I should've probably made this clear and I'm sorry for the confusion but the S6 wont work with the Breeze audio amp - the Breeze Audio amp doesn't have a subwoofer output.

I will contact these people shortly to let them know about this and can refund or substitute for an A44 and refund the difference.

What will work with the S6 sub: A44, Topping MX3, SMSL Q5 Pro, SMSL AD18

    • I run a similar thing on one of my rigs… just to keep things simple for the operator. I just use the headphone output of the TV into a vintage Power Amplifier then out to a pair of similar vintage Speakers. I use the TV remote to flick from PC to TV to Chromecast and just leave the Power Amp set to a reasonable level and use the TVs remote control to adjust volume on the fly. Works perfectly but relies on your TV having a headphone output and one without too much noise.

You could do the same with the package deal here (Headphone out of TV into Amp then out through the speakers) however if you got the A44s you'd be able to connect them directly to the headphone output and be done with it! Neat & tidy and should sound many, many times better than the TVs built-in speakers.

      • OP do you have any other inputs for a more simple solution?

        • SteveAndBelles solution is really the simplest it's going to get:

-Plug A44 into headphone/line out jack of TV with included cable
-Plug in computer to TV via HDMI (audio will be sent to TV)

Then you'll be able to control the output and volume via the source button on your TV remote

    • I've already bought the Voll B44s before and have it with a LVpin 2020A cheap amp from Ebay. I find it can distort as it gets somewhat loud probably due to the amp being generally too budget.

Which amp would you recommend for the B44s to go with S6 (which I also want to buy)?

Seems most people are looking at Topping MX3 or SMSL Q5 Pro. What's the difference? Just lack of bluetooth in the SMSL? What would you recommend?

      Thanks

      • Both are good amps, if you don't need headphone and bluetooth then the Q5 Pro is a bit more powerful and a bit less noisey but both are great choices.

        • Thank you for your fast reply! Just ordered…

  • Just a few questions.

Should I hold off until you release a bigger sub? I'm using these for my desktop but I do love my house shaking bass.

And what are some good amps for the b44 with a headphone output? The headphones I use aren't hard to drive ( v moda m100s and sennheiser momentum) but I might add a hd650 in the future not sure though

Also is it possible to add my existing logitech sub to the set up if the new sub you're releasing is worth waiting for

    • What logitech sub do you have?

You can probably reuse it as long as it's not one of the sets that has the controls in the speakers .

For an amp with headphone out we have 3 amps: The Topping VX3 which is discontinued and we have very limited stock of, the Topping MX3 and the SMSL AD18. The Topping MX3 and AD18 are both good choices with very similar features although the AD18 is more powerful, has more in the way of settings and is a bit less noisey (background hiss is less).

      • I'm wondering about reusing my logitech sub too, if i get the A44. I have logitech z323 https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/speaker-system-z323

        • Unfortunately because the controls are inside the speakers in that model there's no way to easily not plug in the speakers - the only way around it would be to open up the speakers and disconnect the wires inside. The sub also looks fairly small so you may not get much benefit over the B44s/A44s bass anyway.

For anyone who wants to reuse a sub from an old set of computer speakers - the best way to know if it will work is confirming that you volume control / power switch is separate from you satellites and that when your satellites are unplugged from the sub that the sub still plays sound. If that's the case get a 3.5mm to RCA like this: https://www.summitsource.com/Assets/ProductImages/ADS150.jpg and plug the green cable from the speaker set into that and then plug that into the sub out on one of our amps / A44s (the crossover point probably wont be optimal but for a $1 adaptor it's certainly worth a go).

        • @chiefbodge: Thanks for the detailed answer. I got the A44, I will sort out getting a new sub later then.

      • I have the z623 and would you recommend for waiting till you release your bigger sub that will come in future or should the s6 be fine

        • Our S6 is pretty similar to the z623 - maybe a bit less boomy so if you are happy with that you'd probably be happy with the S6. But if you want house shaking bass it's probably best to wait or look for a 10" + sub elsewhere.

Unfortunately the z623 has the controls in the speaker - so the only way to use it with our products would be hook it up to the sub out on your sound card and filter out the high frequencies (if you have a sound card capable of this).

        • @chiefbodge: Thanks for the reply! I just put an order in for B44s, AD18 and the S6. I assume that it will come with all the correct wires to plug and play?

        • @GossipGoat:

Yes - for the AD18 we include an extra cable to connect it to the sub.

        • @chiefbodge: and to connect the speakers? Sorry if this is a dumb question ive never used bookshelf speakers before

        • @GossipGoat:

Yep - we'll include speaker cables to connect the speakers to the amp.

They're very easy to use - just plug and play.

  • Hey is it possible to use either of these for Chromecast audio and PC speakers at the same time? Would like to use them with pc when its running and chromecast when its not :)

    • You should be able to use a cable such as this: http://www.beautifultech.com/content/images/thumbs/0000291_3…

Male 3.5mm goes to chromecast audio.
One of the females goes to 3.5mm to RCA cable included with A44
Other female goes to 3.5mm cable from your PC

Just don't use both at once or it will sound terrible.

  • Will these work with Scarlett audio interfaces?

    • Yep will work fine :)

  • Breeze Bundles are out of stock now - very sorry about that. We had around 50 Breeze Audio amps in stock and did not expect the demand we have seen.

    • Ozbargained

    • Arrghh!! You said it won't run out of of stock. Thinking of getting AV receiver in the future - will the A44 work with av receiver?

      • The A44's have an amplifier built in pig. You'll want the B44's to add to a receiver.

  • No free shipping chief?

    • Generally it's free shipping on eBay but there are some places that we think might be remote (unfortunately eBay's system is very hopeless at this).

      Amps/Cables: Free australia wide

Speakers/Subs: Free to most locations, some locations that eBay thinks are rural there is a surcharge, the reason for this is that a business of our size with our profit margins we can't afford to pay the $40-$50 shipping in some cases to certain locations.

It is possible eBay has wrongly flagged so if you tell me the suburb (either here or via PM) I can confirm if it is in fact correct, If it's incorrect we can refund the shipping charge.

      • Sure. I got $15 shipping for 3550.

        • Unfortunately to check I'll need a suburb as our courier varies based on suburb.

        • @chiefbodge: PM sent

  • D'oh - just bought a 2nd pair of speakers a couple of days ago for my dad and missed out on this great deal.

  • OP i was planning make purchase as soon as i get home. Missed out :(

Would you be able to do a deal on the B44 alone? Its $119.96 on your site.
Able to reduce price and throw in cables please?

    • Unfortunately not - we're running pretty low on stock of the B44 - we're probably going to sell out in the 2-3 weeks and be out of stock for a month at this stage.

  • Advice on your amps. Have a spare set of M&K K5 speakers that I want to use for my PC, your suggestion for a suitable amp? Looking at the Topping MX3 as you still have a couple in stock and I can add a sub woofer if I want.

    • The MX3 actually isn't in stock (there's an explanation in the description) but we will have more probably Friday or Monday next week.

Any of the Topping MX3, SMSL Q5 Pro or SMSL AD18 should suit your requirements. The best of that lot is the AD18 but obviously a bit more pricey. Any are good choices.

For all those trying to use a powered sub (like the Voll S6) with other powered speakers (like logitechs etc), you can use a passive pre-amp.

I use a Schiit SYS, which is a dual input passive pre amp.
It's $49 USD plus $25 USD shipped to Australia from their site.

    http://www.schiit.com/products/sys

You simply plug your source into the preamp's input and then the preamps output to the speakers and sub using a splitter cable.

You put the preamp gain usually at the middle position, then play some music.
You need to adjust the gain on the speakers and then the sub so that they are balanced and at a comfortable volume.

Then you are set, you then just use the preamp gain to control the volume of the whole system. :)

    • +1

A passive pre such as this has no 'gain'. The volume control is an 'attenuator' which simply cuts the signal, it cannot provide gain… but I realise I'm nit-picking here ;)

      • yeah, my bad. I meant to say volume.

  • What’s the actual estimated shipping time for everyone who ordered last night?

    • I got my A44's after 3 or 4 business days, last time this kind of deal came around.

      • Sweet. Delivery estimate was 4th of April iirc, but 3 or 4 days would be great.

        • I ordered 200 razor blades for $30 with free shipping from Victoria yesterday after 5pm and they show at my home in SA the next day. Unbelievable. I’m used to packages taking a week or more.

    • Depends on where you are located. We only managed to get around 2/3 of the orders shipped today. If you received a shipping notification and you live in Adelaide or Melbourne you will probably get them on Monday.

Once shipped these are generally our transit times (Mon-Fri only):

      Adelaide: Overnight
      Melbourne: Overnight
      Sydney: 2 Business Days
      Canberra/Brisbane: 4 Business Days
      Perth: 7 Business days

      Elsewhere: it varies

    • Just got mine today (Metro Melbourne). Insanely fast! Very Impressed

  • There were earlier comments re: leaving the A44's turned on all the time, without much power draw.

How about the S6 sub… would those comments apply equally to that item? cheers

    • Yes - power draw of the S6 is very similar to the A44 - under 1w.

      • So it meets low power standby standards?

  • and one more query… can anyone recommend some good speaker mounts to attach the A44s to a wall?! thanks!!

    • We're actually working on getting some speaker mounts & stands in, but it's still a few months off. I quite like these: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Speaker-Brackets-Wall-Mounts-Hea… but it seems kind of silly spending almost as much on speaker mounts as the speakers.

Does anyone else have a any advice regarding this? If there's a style of mount that people seem to like then we'd be interested in importing it.

Chief, I helped one of the Voll loving neighbours setup his surround sound speakers with minimalist brackets similar to these: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ViiRO-3-5kg-Universal-Speaker-Wa… From memory the ones we got were rated at 4-5kg though but there are many like this for around the $15-$20 mark. They need to be screwed into the speaker cabinets but nothing major required, could probably just be done by hand without a drill as per a few IKEA attachments.

        • Thanks for that Steve - will look into it - where did you end up screwing them in? (in between the port and the binding post assembly?)

We're going to see if our manufacturer is able to add a threaded insert to the back of the speaker to make this easier, if it doesn't add too much to the production cost it might make mounting a lot easier.

        • @chiefbodge: Yes however the ones we used had a horizontal mounting plate… actually similar (if not identical) to the Jaycar ones: https://www.jaycar.com.au/wall-speaker-brackets-to-suit-life… but purchased direct from China via eBay.

        • @SteveAndBelle:
Steve, any chance you could post a photo/drawing to show where you screwed them in?

I don't want to wreck my A44s!! Lol

        • +1

@clandestino: If I can get into my neighbours house I'll get a pic for you.

        • @SteveAndBelle:

Oops I forgot it was for your neighbor! Ok if you can, brilliant. Have a good weekend.

Today we shipped about 2/3 of the Orders - the rest (except for orders with MX3s which we are waiting on more stock due in next Friday) will ship on Monday.

Due to an incorrect stock count and selling far more than we expected we are now completely out of stock of B44s and will be until late may (we sold our last one today).

When we have sales such as these we do usually end up with some returns which will be sold as seconds - so for anyone who missed out I'll post here in 1-2 weeks with anything that we have available.

Thanks for your great support on this thread, and previous ones too.

  • Has anyone used headphones with their MX3?

Having an issue where the subwoofer out continues playing when I plug my headphones in. The B44's I have connected stop playing correctly though.

Voll are looking into it (their response was fantastic), just curious whether it's a fault or bug.

  • Got the A44 today! Although it comes with a dented corner :( Not really obvious though and looks like it wont affect the sound, looking forward to test it out

Edit: this was responded very quickly by Chief Jay. Really awesome support and one of the reasons to support local businesses. Keep up the great work guys

  • My A44s arrived today. They sound okay. Fine for near field and fine at mid to low volume in lounge. Clear and punchy, but kind of underpowered at the same time. Probably as good as it gets for this money tho.

They are super lightweight. I was expecting some heft like with my aktimate minis.

  • Hi, I got my a44 as well, but I have a problem. It takes aux input from phones beautifully, but when I connect it to my computer it makes a loud humming sound that cancels out all other sounds so it's unusable. Tried audio out port, headphone port, dp out port through graphic card and tv - all same result. How do I get sound from PC without noise?

The wires are placed apart from each other.
It can take input from phones.
Computer outputs work well when using a set of earphones.

    • Hi Junoz86,

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your A44. It sounds like you may have a faulty 3.5mm cable or power supply fault, or potentially a strange ground loop issue that isn't playing nicely with our speakers.

Do you have another 3.5mm to RCA cable you can test with to eliminate a cable issue?

For further assistance you can contact [email protected] or contact us via eBay and we'll be happy to assist (replacement of cable, power supply, everything or refund).

      Regards,

      Jay

      • Yes looks like it's a cable issue. I found that the noise disappeares when I bend the cable to a certain angle near the 3.5mm connector part.

        • Send us an eBay message or an email with your eBay username and we'll send you out a new cable ASAP.
