Don't buy old tech at this price I would agree.

    • A samsung galaxy s5 will suffice, old tech is a galaxy s2.

  • I notice there is both Aus stock and "Direct Import" on this listing. does this mean with Aus Stock I will get australian warranty, and direct import I won't?

    • With International model, the warranty would be for a different region and for phone repairs, you must ship it back to the country it was originally bound for. Samsung Australia is not legally obligated to repair it for you.

      See Part I, Point B

      • While this is usually true, it doesn't totally apply to Amaysim. Please see my comment below.

    • I've seen first hand 3 experiences with Amaysim direct import, twice myself and once for a friend.

Their direct import gives you 2 years LOCAL warranty covered by Amaysim themselves. Samsung doesn't cover you, but you don't need to ship it back overseas for a repair.

My friend's Amaysim direct import phone (S8) died without warning a month or so ago. They took it somewhere locally in Sydney, and it was replaced with a brand new phone a few weeks later.

Refer to "warranty and returns" section in this example listing:
      https://shop.amaysim.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s9
      https://www.amaysim.com.au/dms/amaysim/documents/terms-condiā€¦

      • thanks for that helpful info :)

      • Confirmed it's amaysim 2y warranty for direct import, thx for bringing it up

      Expired code

    • It's not AU stock, just seller provided 1y warranty

      • Never said AU stock? I said AU warranty

        • Yeah never mind, not to argue. The Amaysim one has AU warranty as well.

  • Hi,

Can you advise how long it takes for them (Amaysim) to deliver the item?
It says that estimated delivery date is between Thu. 19 Apr. and Fri. 18 May for both Direct import and Australian stock. Do you really need to wait for so long to be delivered to Gold Coast?
It's confusing as on the listing it says that handling time is 2-7 days.

    Thanks.

    • Honestly, I'm not too sure, sorry! Just came across the deal and thought others may be interested.

I asked them on eBay and they said it is a glitch that eBay shows those times.
It took a week for my latest phone, and about 1.5 week for another earlier phone.

  • Since it is being sent from HK… Does it have GST included for TRS purposed?

How does a HK S8 differ from the AU model, apart from the dual sim?

Does dual sim affect battery life? Does it have different connectivity? According to GSM Arena, the bands are all identical, does that mean that the connectivity on Australian phone networks are the same?

    • GSM arena is usually pretty accurate. Yes, both sim slots will have same band and they work fine for Aussie network

Due to differences in the firmware however you cannot use Samsung Pay here and you may need to flash Australian firmware to make it work. (just don't ask me how)

You can still use Google Pay without any further tweaks

  • Does anyone know if buying a parallel/grey import impacts on the OS builds and updates?
