TIL natto. Can't wait to try.
Natto is interesting. I read a lot about it being this horrible, polarising food. Naturally, I was really keen to try it.. but when I did, I was pretty disappointed. It was much more tame than expected. The flavour wasn't unappealing to me at all, but I could understand how some would find the gooey, slimy texture off putting. With rice it is far easier to handle. Don't forget to mix the soy and mustard.

it's interesting to read your take on natto. Although I've been eating it since forever the smell is still a bit off putting to me but as you said mixing it with rice is the way I prefer it. Oh I add some chopped spring onion or furikake or mayo to it!
When I first when to Japan and tried it, I thought it was horrible, especially the smell.
Apparently, about 10 years ago, the Natto packagers removed some smelly chemical components, so the smell is almost like nothing now.
