    1. Optus non-corporate accounts don’t have visual voicemail. You have to call 321 to access voicemail.
    2. Optus’s signal isn’t any better than Vodafone.
    3. Optus support is worse than Vodafone and probably the worst. I signed two contracts on the same day and sametime. They can’t consolidate two accounts into one. I requested for 4 months with 6 times of calling and online chats, they still haven’t consolidated my accounts yet due to two accounts in an old and a new billing systems respectively (seriously, I signed on the same day)
    4. You need to wait 30mins at minimum to reach an Optus support if you call them.

If you could deal above 4 points, you probably wont regret moving to Optus.

      1. True, no comment here.
      2. Optus regional coverage is better than Vodafone, but the speed is mostly worse (due to data-free Netflix).
      3. Vodafone customer service is worse.
      4. True, no comment here.

For me, Optus is better than Vodafone but still lags far behind Telstra.
Optus perks are good, but that's no reason to have a 2 year contract with them, more like a prepaid sim.

(Source: Happy Telstra customer, unhappy Optus customer and irate Vodafone customer)

      • Haven’t tried Telstra yet. I have to wait for a year and half to find out. I think I will leave Optus once the contracts finished.

        • Maybe "unhappy Optus customer" was a bit harsh. I was satisfied but a good plan came across with Telstra so I didn't exactly have to make a choice - Telstra is much better.

Of course it all comes down to price, Telstra is normally more expensive.

Unfortunately you signed up during a migration period. Optus is in the process of changing the system where all services are held. In your situation, both accounts should have been created in the new system (as long as the numbers were new to Optus). If one number was an upgrade, and the other a new number, this may be the reason they are on different systems at the moment.

Otherwise if both numbers were new, one number may have been incorrectly processed in the wrong system, meaning you'll have to wait for the migration to occur :(

    • had the same issue for number 3, still not resolved, promised by the end of march even though I have raised this issue at the end of December for my tablet and mobile plan. after countless promises and no actions Shame on Optus

  • Its quite similar with the previous deal with JB Hifi and Telstra. The upside being any plan but the down side being locked in for twice as long.

  • Optus’s signal isn’t any better than Vodafone.

Rubbish. Optus is miles better, especially in Sydney.

    • Try in Centre station. I moved from Vodafone to Optus 4 months ago. Did you? What’s your experience for the comparison?

      • Try in Centre station

        Where?

Central? It's always congested there. Not really an Optus problem.

Vodafone doesn’t have that problem. Look, I’m not here to debate. I have my opinion and you have yours. Don’t waste time here. I got my Optus iPhone 8 almost free with $200 voucher. No complaints for the deal. Just sharing my experience.

        • Pretty much all the major stations seem to be an issue with optus. And strangely enough, it is an optus only problem.

  • I just called Harvey Norman Broadway, they said this was only for the s9 plan, and you can't use the student discount either

    • +1

Sign up at HN, then go to Optus Student Hub get a student code. After that do an online chat and say "you are a student and have a student code" provide the student code and they will be able to apply the 10% off your plan price (not including the handset repayment)

      • I tried what you said but they weren't able to apply the discount. Apparently you need to apply it when you sign up to a plan.

        • +1

Try talking to a different rep. I have done it for one of my plans in the past 6 months after signing up. I told them I didn't know the student discount existed and now that I do I want to put it on my plan.

        • @sleepingpanda: Thanks, I'll keep trying but it seems for the recent optus special s9 plan they won't allow any more discount on it whatsoever.

    • I just called Broadway again, got someone a lot more helpful and friendly (s/o to Raven!) who said I can get iPhone X, and apply the student discount after the fact.

      • Alright spoken to a couple of reps online and called, they've said the student discount is an online only offer. Doesn't seem they're willing to budge

  • Dammit this is tempting with the s9 deal.

Bloody optus having the epl, world cup and unmetered google play/spotify makes it very hard to move to telstra.

Even if telstra offered unmetered google play I'd probably switch.

    Difficult choice :(

  • Optus head group financial year ends 31/3, won't be suprised if there are some better offers come out this week by optus and HN.

  • Can someone confirm whether they have managed to get this on a SIM pnly 24 months plan

    • Only available with handsets I believe
