    Aussie Shrimp

    Triggered

    • Maate, we will chuck em on the barbie, have a Vegemite sanga then some sausages on bread with dead horse, while racing our kangaroos. Okay, sweet, fair dinkum, not pulling your leg cobber

      • +1

fake. real aussie would say sausage sizzle or bangers

        • Did not want to get involved in nor start a state vs state argument.

Damn, Paid $5 couple of weeks ago - feeling ripped off :)

Have you tried it? Does it work as it claims? I usually don't trust demo videos from advertisements.

      • +1

It works pretty well, once you figure out how to do it.
And you can get the vein out in one go too (most of the time)

        • cool. That helps. thanks.

        • +1

          the vein or the poopshute?

      • Hi AR-MEL,
Still in the packet, another impulse buy thanks to OZB :)

    • +2

I know that feel, I bought 2 of them at $5.

Can probably use them to tamper with cricket balls.

  • …hmm can you use it to de-vein a prawn ? I'm hopeless at that…

    • use toothpick pick near half way up and out, also wasn't that call intestine…

      • +1

It's called a poop shute :) but deveining is indeed the proper terminology for the procedure you've described.

    • once you get good at it you can remove the vain 90% of the time.

  • +1

Think the term 'de-vein' is inaccurate. Calling a gastro intestinal tract a 'vein' is being very optimistic regarding what you're eating :)

    • There is no "gastro" - that is in the "head", just an intestinal tract, and removing it is called de-veining.

If you are going to complain about English, tell people how to spell "chute".

The tract is quite safe to eat, but can be unpleasantly gritty sometimes.
All the unpleasant tasting bits of the guts are removed when you break the head off.
Though you can eat whole prawns including the shell if they are cooked properly.

Everybody loves whitebait, and you don't bother gutting that!

      • If you're having a dig at me, it can be spelled either way.

        • Ewe kan spal it hough you wont, but Shute is just an author.

I'd accept the anglo-saxon "shoot", but shute is nordic/german? :-)

          @sTon3r:

"a variant spelling" is their PC term for a misspelling :) Google will auto-correct it for you.

  • Shrimp AND prawns. Such wow!

  • I real Ezy-Aussie uses his cocaine nails to tear through a prawn.

  • Price dropped from $15
when it was called the Exy Prawn Peeler.

This sounds like something off SharkTank.

I'd be interested how it goes with thawed for your convenience prawns.

  • Is there a way to check stock level before I head out to Big W?

    • Call them?

      • Big W stores don't have access to each other's stock level, so ended up calling all three stores that are the closest to me. No stock in all three.
