Found this online, yes it's probably 99% a mistake, but let's see if we can get it! It's unavailable online, but tomorow I'm going to see if I can get this for the same price in-store.

and using the code "MEDIBANKBIGW" (Thanks btaussie!) you can get it for $15.80 posted. The item is currently 'On Order' so right now we're awaiting to see if they will be shipped or not.

EDIT 2: The page above is now dead, it appears they have finally realized what's happened. The real thing now is to wait and see if they honour it.

    • I had the same issue with the copy I got in store. I just went back the next day, with the receipt, and asked them to open it up for me. Sales guy remembered me and was slightly reluctant, but what was he going to do - not open an item I paid for??

      Other option is to grab a couple of strong magnets (hard drives are a good source). From memory you hold one at opposite ends and sides of the case lock and move it up to unlock. Maybe that was for locked DVD's…

      • Because I bought it from BigW online I was reluctant to take it back to a BigW store. I unsuccessfully followed some YouTube instructional videos but in the end I managed to lever it open with an envelope opener (with no damage).

    I paid via paypal and under details it says the refund is pending til the 4th.
    Well today is the 5th. Where the hell is my money?!

    • Same. The date pending has past. Someone somewhere is sitting on our money. They take it instantaneously, and then take almost 2 weeks to give it back.

  • I got refund via Paypal only today. But the money didn't go back to my credit card. As I understand the money will now sit in my Paypal account.

    I sent a letter to BigW Entertainment that they are in breach of FAIR TRADING ACT 1987 No 68 Part 5 Fair Trading, 53 Accepting payment without intending or being able to supply as ordered (TPA s 58) as well as TRADE PRACTICES ACT 1974 - SECT 75AZJ Bait advertising "(1) A corporation must not, in trade or commerce, advertise for supply at a specified price, goods or services if there are reasonable grounds for believing that the corporation will not be able to offer those goods or services for supply at that price for a period that is, and in quantities that are, reasonable, having regard to the nature of the market in which the corporation carries on business, and the nature of the advertisement."

    I asked them to resolve the issue and said that otherwise I will have to lodge a complaint with ACCC.

    I received the following reply from them, which shows that they clearly don't care about reputation and customers:

    Thank you for your email dated 31 December 2010 about the cancellation and refund of your recent order from www.bigwentertainment.com.au

    I would like to take this opportunity to address the issues raised within your email.

    The item you ordered was not available as advertised between 26 and 28 December 2010. If for any reason we determine that an item is no longer available, we delete the item from our catalogue, and refund you in full. In this instance this has occurred and we are now in the course of rectifying the situation.

    The full amount for the Back To The Future/ Back To The Future 2/ Back To The Future 3 (blu-ray) and shipping cost was processed on the 31st of December 2010.

    We do our best to provide accurate and up-to-date information on our website and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

    An amicable resolution to this issue has already been determined and actioned by way of full and immediate refund. Therefore, in light of the circumstance outlined in your email, regrettably we will not be reinstating your order.

    We will await communication from the ACCC, whereby, we will happily assist them with their enquiries so that they can advise you accordingly.

    Finally, it is unfortunate that your shopping experience had not been a pleasant one. We now consider this matter closed and will wait until we are contacted by the ACCC.

    • I would SO raise this with the ACCC if they sent me a reply like this. If only to be annoying. It's like they are daring you. Send a copy to Michael Tran via registered mail (with his specific signature required) and add a lawyers return address just for laughs.

      It really seems that purchasing anything online, the retailer ALWAYS has an out clause. In store, they would never get away with this. I definitely think they see online customers as sort of dispensable, the problem for companies like this, is that online customers are also in store customers and will act with their wallets. I for one, won't be buying from Big W from now on, basically because of the disdain they have shown their customers,seemingly forgetting that this resulted from what was their OWN MULTIPLE ERRORS. I'm still waiting for my refunds. I hope they are enjoying the use of my money, because I know that I am NOT enjoying a Back To The Future Blu Ray, nor any of the other items I ordered and paid for in good faith.

    I think everyone should write to ACCC. This is the only way to prevent BigW and BigW Entertainment from doing these things to customers again and again.

  • What a rort, i now have my refund stuck in paypal where theres a fee to take it out

    why is my refund still stuck in pending! i have lent money to bigwentertainment for over two weeks for no return.

    • Send them a threatening email, I got mine back quickly because I was threatening saying its against the law and want the refund.
