Yes that's what the OP says.

  • Targeted me thinks. Tried the code, but no luck.

"5. This offer is only available if you have not previously downloaded the eBay app and you have received an email inviting you to participate in the offer from eBay or are otherwise able to view the offer when you use the eBay app"

  • Got an email telling me about it for one of my accounts

    • Me too. Good timing as I had a few small-value items to buy. I'm sure I can scrounge up $10 worth of stuff to buy in one transaction.

  • +6

    Done!
Paid $1 for an $11 item

    It's a good day

    • +4

If you used cash reward then it will be $0.89 instead of $1

      • +3

i think if i was on centerlink my time would still be worth more than 11 cents to do this!

        • +5

It is more being a ozbargainer.

it is more a practise then a really saving in this case.

          Diji1 Wins. FATALITY.

  • Previously I have tried to use codes that I hadn’t been target for in the app. For some reason when I would try to cancel the transaction it still went through my paypal. I reported the glitch but I’m not sure if it’s fixed.

This is the standard promo (code changes) for everyone who opens a new account and doesn't log on via the app.

    This is essentially the process if you want to open a new account and get the new user codes;

    1. Create new account
    2. Do not log in via the app or buy anything via a browser.
    3. After approx 4-6 weeks you'll receive a $20 voucher (usually $30 min spend) or a 20% off code (max discount $50). Use these codes via a web browser only.
    4. Assuming you still haven't logged in via the app you will receive a $10 code (sometimes $5) to use via the app after 6-8 weeks.
    5. Now, mothball this account for 12 months and you'll get a dormant user code between 12 and 15 months !

      Legendary ozbargainer my friend

    • Even though a lot of my random little purchases have gone to more competitive places like AliEx and Gearbest, I still buy that odd thing or two off eBay that rules me out of these targeted deals. bah!

      • +1

need more email address and more ebay accounts.

        • +1

Outlook.com is your friend…… You can add 10 aliases per primary account……ie 11 email account that all funnel into one logon.

Of course I'm not recommending anyone open 11 eBay accounts…… I'm sure they have safe guards to stop people blatantly abusing the new user promos. There might also be a legal case against such individuals based on "gaining an unfair financial advantage".

        • @ash2000: does that work for legacy Hotmail addresses too since they all use their Outlook system now?

Better late than never to set up shopping email aliases so not everything online is under my email (which is derived from my name).

        • +1

@ash2000: or you can use Gmail's feature of appending something to the end of an address eg emails to
[email protected] stiil got to [email protected]

My free Gsuite account and my $1 domains come in handy. Infinite email addresses I don't even need to create.

        • @ndreamer:

How did you get a free Gsuite account?

        • +1

@nurries: He created it when Gapps used to be free.

    • how accurate is this? I created an account last July, did not order anything or login via the app (only browser), still got no targeted promo.

      • The extra accounts I've made have all received the $20/20% code without exception. The app promo is more variable in its time frame, but again it's always arrived. The same Has been true for family and friends who have opened their first or additional accounts and have played the waiting game.

  • I got this email with the similar heading.
However, the contents did not say anything about the app nor the code.

    • i got a similar one the other day, but the email subject said "10% off sitewide" no actual mention of it in the email contents though.

      • Ah…yes, 10% off not $10 off.

        • I did get a unique $10 voucher today from eBay though.

      • I got that on the morning of April 1, have a feeling it was eBay's attempt at being funny. Clicked a few times and gave up realising I'd been duped.

  • I'll just wait a few days for the same deal, not targeted ;)

  • GOT IT!!!

Nice one, got it. Used it on 50 off 120 kogan voucher. Then gonna get the cordless Baumr-AG angle grinder with battery & charger for $60 delivered.

  • Lmao, I got this offer on over 15 of my eBay accounts. Time to go ham!

    • How many accounts do you have?

      • +1

        Over 30

Do you need a different credit card/PayPal account for each one?

        • +1

@k23man: secondary Amex cards for my imaginary cat, a blowfly that came into my house once, a stuffed toy etc does the trick. You also get to claim the Amex money back deals multiple times.

  • It looks does not work.
Downloaded app, bought a hard drive, entered APPME, it said wrong code.

    • As per the OP, the offer is targeted.

  • +1

If anyone is struggling to find something they want without breaking the budget, 3 bags of sour patch kids for 0.47 cents is decent.

  • No email for me. I logged into eBay just before to leave feedback and there's the code, showing where they normally are. Mine expires 09/04/2018

  • one account got it

  • +1

Got this offer, procrastinated on using it and offer is now expired even though T & C says expires at 23.59 on 9 April…

    • Getting the same thing when I go to check out. Very frustrating

    • Live chat will be able to give you a $10 refund or something of the like if you purchase now and show that you're eligible. They're very good with that, has happened to me before.

      • Crap, didn't see this until now. I sent the (usually useless) support team an email shortly after my post, hopefully that'll be proof enough - will update tomorrow.

    • yeah wtf… dogged me hard

at the checkout and it's expired
