I wonder if my flight will go missing halfway there? Like Tiger this is on the banned list for me.

Same to me, always avoid Malaysian Airline and Air Asia…

Any bad experience with them? I have used them multiple times. No complaints so far.

        • -3

I do not dare to have experience with them : (
Such a pity, MA used to be one of the 5-star airliners.

        • @Louis89: Oh! ok.:) . I think they were just unfortunate with those incidents. As far as the missile attack, it could be any airline, isn't it?

          @totsydeal:

Qantas, Korean Air, Cathy Pacific, Air France, China Airlines and British Airways were all avoiding that airspace. United Airlines stopped after a Ukraine Air Force Antonov 26 flying at 21,300 ft was shot down on the 14th July.

The Antonov shoot-down wasn't a secret, nor was the fact it was a ground launched missile. It was reported by the BBC:

          http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-28299334

Malaysian Airlines and others were still choosing to fly through it.

So they have some responsibility for putting their passengers at greater risk.

        • @Thommo: fair call.

        • Deleted. Just saw the point has been made above.

        • @totsydeal: As for the missile attack, they can blame the bad luck, but in fact, there were still many other airliners choose to change the route to avoid that area. But the way they handling the disappeared one makes me so disappointed.

  • I wouldn't ever fly with this airline. I would rather pay more. I would also rather pay a bit more and fly direct.

  • wish your website would show updated and realistic prices. SYD-HKG for your example dates is not $325 return.

    • The fares you see are realistic and quoted by Skyscanner recently, when you click on the fare you can see how long ago it was quoted. If a fare is extremely low it may have had limited seats or been an error fare that price may not have lasted long and will take a little time to reflect on Flight Scout.

I've flown a couple long haul flights with Malaysia recently and whilst the planes were empty… service was great, the planes were decent and lots of seats available to lie down

Do I want to go to Japan? - YES
Do I want to go missing? - NO
    Hmmm what a dilemma

    • +5

I answered yes to both of those questions, so I guess this is the perfect deal for me

      • Easier to get upgraded to business class for free. I’ve flown them before and had a great experience.

  • Any refund if we disappear and never arrive?

  • Malaysian Airlines is hopeless. Flew with Malaysia about 6 months ago and I was quite disturbed by what I saw. Things like cabin crew not giving safety briefings in exit aisles etc. Other things like electronics being used, PAX standing during taxying being seen by crew with no action.

This suggests to me that either training or follow-up audits are not being given or enforced. Company is in financial distress, high turnover of senior staff etc. The current CEO is the 4th (or 3rd) in about 2 years

With these problems, how much focus do you think they put on safety?
