worst site. tried about 20x and cannot get credit card window to open. paypal gives above

  • Purchased. Great price for great beers.

  • +1

    $54.95 for VIC, -5% e-wish, and -1.5% cashreward = $51.42

If you get $56.95 in other states, that's probably because of the 10cents bottle (can) deposit

If there is no stock in your local store, just choose click and collect, they usually offer "collect within 7 days".

And if you buy x packs (6 cans) when x>4, the price will be adjusted to $54.95/4*n
    ie 5 packs $68.7, 6 packs $82.44 etc
a great option for people who just want to buy 36 cans

    • (profanity), got 2 but didn't use my staff card

      • Staff card for Woolworths won't get you discounts at dan's I thought

  • A little hard to find stock but managed to grab a case. Thanks.

    • Next time you may choose click and collect, they usually offer collect within 7 days

      • From my limited experience it seems full stock; you can order, low stock; you can have two 6 packs (or whatever they have), no stock; you can collect in 7 days.

I've been stung before with a clearance on Bitburger mini kegs. It was EOL so although they said I could collect in 7 days they didn't have any stock. I missed out.

The store I chose is on my way to work.

  • Was 76.99, so I set store (Bathurst) and logged in, now 79.99, haha

  • Got one click collect within 7 days, thanks :)

Side note: anyone else that uses the cashrewards extension notice it isn't working with Dan Murphy's? I tried with another store, and it popped up just fine. Had to manually click through their site, so hopefully it will go through (even though I always take screenshots now as proof just in case hehe).

    • I have noticed the same thing.

  • Just as im checking out, FARK!!!!

We are currently doing some planned site maintenance.

As such, we are sorry that Dan Murphy's website is temporarily unavailable.

Please come back shortly or if you'd like to place an order, call us on 1300 72 33 88.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    • It's back up now.

      • Still down for me.

        • Yeah its up and down but seems to be more stable on mobile. Good luck sir :)

  • Cheers OP just ordered 2 cases click and collect successfully, using cash rewards.
Site is working fine for me as of right now.

  • -1

Thanks OP. Just ordered! Site is working for me

arhhhh the VB / XXXX of Japanese beer

This stuff was everywhere in Japan, in their vending machines for about $2 per can

Terrible beer, massive mark up here, not worth the price IMHO

    • lol. My sentiments are exactly opposite.

    • You sure it wasn’t the asashi zero in the vending machines? Those ones have no alcohol. I fell for that once thinking it was just a lower carb option.

      • It was asashi, they can sell alcohol in vending machines there, same for smokes

    • in their vending machines for about $2 per can

Full strength beer sold in vending machines without the need to provide an +18yr photo id?

      • +1

Yep they do sell full strength in vending machines. You need to scan your license/photo ID in order to obtain it.
        Same for ciggies.

        • I didnt need to scan anything, just buy full strength beer and smokes directly from vending machines

Also, smoking in restaurants is still a thing there, terrible

      • Drinking age is 20 in Japan and yeah they don’t check ID. They also have vending machine for cigarettes.

        • High trust societies are nice… Maybe we should restrict our migration to just high trust societies.

    • +1

Sure it’s their VB and xxxx, but it’s still a decent big bottler beer , can’t say the same for our VB and xxxx

      • Maybe in common-ness, but not taste. I mean both those quoted Australian "beers" are foul over-preserved bitter tasting beers, where Asahi is a light flavoured rice lager. I'd maybe equate it to something in America like Budweiser.

    • +2

It may be their standard…. but their standards are higher :)

    • +1

These 500ml Asahi cans for ¥165 from the vending machine?? I don't think so.
I think you got your currency conversions wrong!! Or imbibed too much to remember! Just reads like you want to complain about Japan.

I'm a regular traveller to Japan over last 10 years & never seen Asahi at that low price. I regularly buy these cans in Japan. Beer vending machines were common on streets when I first visited.

Even 250ml cans cost more than ¥165 in all vending machines I've come across. (I like to take photos of any bargain deals at vending machines.) I buy cold at the super(market) - it's cheaper. Asahi is a favourite after a long soak at the Sento or Onsen.

      Asahi beer prices in Japan
350ml can of Asahi Super Dry prices
      :
      Convenience store: ¥235
      Supermarket or liquor store: ¥185
      Vending machine: ¥240

Prices were around what I found last year. These 500ml cans are ¥189ea in this deal!

This stuff was everywhere in Japan - because millions of people enjoy the taste of Asahi. It's good value, rather than "cheap" - the only reason I bought VB as a student (certainly not for the taste).

As for massive mark up - it's the high taxes here against 8% or so in Japan. Although $2.29 per can in this deal can't be called much of a markup.

not worth the price @$2.29/ 500ml! Leave it for those who appreciate it.

So where was this mythical vending machine?
I might want to buy it a drink🍺

  • "Please note there has been a change to the products in your basket:
The price of Asahi Super Dry Cans 500mL has increased from $54.95 to $76.99"

  • +2

I've tried every beer but keep coming back to VB.

  • +1

thankyou for the tip, made my friday.
as always in WA murphys has no stock of this.
    note 6 carton limit.
they did allow delivery for $6.90 for the 6 cartons, so happy days.

    • WA Cannington still has stocks

    • Bicton did just a moment ago.

  • DOH! I forgot to use cashrewards :(

  • I always get pushed beer that's 2-3 mths to best before from my local Dans. Was told they ran the promo to clear stock so it's normal.

    How's everyone's luck?

    • 15.01.2019 best before on mine

  • Thanks OP

  • $56.95 at Ballina
    $79.99 at Armidale

Does anyone know if Dan's will price match another store in the same state/region?

    • Doubt it. They reference "competitor" in their T&C's. link

  • Thanks OP

  • missed out click and collect because my wish e-gift card is taking forever to come through.. any idea if I can use this e-giftcard in store and get them to reserve one for me for when it comes back in stock at this price?

    • You can use egift card in store.

  • its $6.90 for delivery.
not bad as click and collect has petrol/time hassle involved as well…

    • Hi tried that and was charged the full amount and had to call up for a refund.

So I searched their T&C's and found this inclusion:

"When you place an order for delivery, you are charged the price of the product in the store closest to the delivery destination postcode."

      • I got charged $56.95 per slab. I ordered 4 slabs.
        delivery fee $6.90.

        Total - $234.70
        I am in NSW

        • It depends on what store you are near. If there is no store near you, then you get the online store price.

My delivery address is 2350 and the Dan's here has it for $79.99, so that's the price I get.

    • Yeah no free delivery codes. I may get 2 cases to divide the cost.

  • Choice Bro TAFE

  • +1

This would be a unicorn by now, been to Dan Murphys enough times to know that any Ozbargain tip-offs result in an empty shelf pretty quick (if there was any stock to begin with).

Only success I had was with Coopers Summer beer which wasn't particularly sought after.

    • +2

Click and collect mate. Just got a text saying mine is ready to pickup actually

      • Just gave that a try, have ordered a case.

    • That Coopers Summer was gross. Cheap but gross.

  • +4

Bought a slab with the $200 WISH voucher I won from a fitness challenge at work :D

  • Every part of me, except my liver, thanks you, OP.

  • -5

thanks for the heads up OP. Cheapest ever.. My fav every day lager
    EDIT
I'm going to have to neg this deal.
Can't find it anywhere in Brisbane for this price.

    • This deal is done

  • called dans, was put through to local store in Victoria, manager says it was a deal al last night, has expired, he will have stock next week …. "we look after our regular customers" …..

  • The deal is over. It was a 24 hours deal.

    • +1

      Hang over starts…

  • Opted for the 7 day C&C got a text a little bit ago saying it is ready to be picked up. Thanks OP

  • That's almost $1 per standard drink, awesome. I lived off this shit when i was in Japan. You could get a 1 litre one from vending machines. I wish Yebisu was easier to find in Australia

  • Can anyone post a screenshot of their confirmation email? trying to get them to honor the deal.. purchased a wish gift-card as well and now I can't use it…

    • Use it at Woolworths or the current Dan Murphy'a cleanskin deal. They also have no expiry date.

  • As usual C&C train-wreck
The guy goes to get order and after waiting a while(10+min) I'm telling the dude ate the counter that 50% of my C&C are a farce.
Doesn’t matter HN, BigW, Liquor Land, Office Works etc etc. About half the time it's a balls up. When of course the guy comes back and says is it OK is I take the equivalent in bottles as there is some kind of mix up.

    Yea whatever LOL

    • Unfortunately that's the way it is with click n collect. There isn't someone monitoring online orders all the time, so the item is sold out by the time they look at your order (especially when it is posted on ozbargain).

    • I use C&C all the time and Dan Murphy's has been great 95% of the time.

  • +1

picked up mine and no regrets……5 cans down already… its Beautiful ………………………………….

    • +1

I can't wait to pick mine up tmrw and enjoy this liquid gold.

  • Got the confirmation from Burwood 2134 yesterday. Went to pickup today and they brought out a case of 330ml bottles. Apparently the warehouse is showing ~300 bottles and no other stores have stock. Ended up getting a refund. Not happy Jan!

    • +3

So sorry to hear you missed out. You should have push to pick up when they receive their next delivery.

I picked up my two cases this morning. No issues. Expiry date is Sept/18. Happy Days.

  • good to see i am not the only one that gets shafted with the click and collect at D/Ms.
I use this all of the time in Perth as they stock jack of this in 500ml cans.
at least every second pickup they have put stubbies aside for me or cant find the order and offer me stubbies instead. i scored 2 cartons at midland, 1 carton at morley on this deal and 6 delivered to home, to midlands credit i didnt get the text saying come and collect, just a phone call to say they cant find the stock and will let me know when its in next week. ( I so hope they can tell the difference between cans and stubbies when they get my order in).
morley on the other hand text me the morning of the order to say ready to collect, of course they didnt have the stock, but i will get it eventually.
i find bunnings and murphys use similar staff, if you are confused look on youtube
    Choppers (S)hitlist - #1 Bunnings

  • Picked my case up, BB is November. It is a simple canned beer and very affordable/readily available in Japan, so IMO it should be around this price all the time. No way I am paying ~$70 a case for it. Love the 500ml cans they go down a treat, hopefully they run this deal a bit more often.

    • Yeah if they can Do becks and stella 500 ml cans for $56 they should be able to asahi also regularly …..

  • Just C&Ced my case in SA. Best Before is Feb 2019. Cheers OP!

  • 8 slabs waiting to be picked up at my local; Forest Hill. Shout outs to William, Jason, Cameron et al.

    • +2

      Party at sween64's place🎉
(Ask his mates at Forest Hill DM for the address😀)

My 1 lonely slab has just txt me to pick it up from the pub.

      • The Burvale?

  • +3
    🎉The deal is back!🎉

Now on sale at same price & should be back in stock!

Reported to mods to unexpire, but say it is $56.95 - as reported by some in this deal.

Same conditions as before: Must log in to get deal, may be dearer where container deposit is charged.

    • Nice find!

      • Thanks. A great deal - now extended👍

Was telling a friend how good this deal was compared to normal price & looked up current price…

Left 1 carton in cart @$54.95 & reported here as unexpired. (Took some convincing - over an hour!)

DM sent me email about that forgotten 1 case with price of $154.95!!😒

Off to pick up order from nearly a week ago, as now restocked. Tempted to buy more.

        • $155 looks like the regular price for 2 cases

  • +1

I have a case waiting to be picked up at Dan Murphy and I'm going to Japan next week, do I really need to order another case?

  • Awesome - missed out last time but ordered a case this time!

  • cracking! cc belmont geelong OK

  • Still works for me. $56.95 in NSW. Just ordered 2 cases. Good deal.

  • Fun fact, the braille on the cans says "sake" to aid visually impaired people.

  • Awesome deal, picked up the last carton in West Perth last time, now the deal is on again, Cannington's Dan Murphy looks like it has stock. Ordered another for pick up.

  • Only working on urban area.Any idea to price match others?

  • +1

Am I doing something wrong…? Am logged in and not getting the sale price for $54.95 for WA Stores but the normal $76.99 price :((

    • +1

Geeze.. they have put the price back up. I saw this deal this morning, was going to order another case just now but it has gone up to $79.99. They are dreaming at that price. $57 is the max I would pay for it.

    • -1

Same in NSW, logged in, and showing as $79.99. Will report as expired. Annoying, that's twice I've missed it now.

      • +1

        DOH! Same :(

  • Saw the price at lunchtime and told myself I'd buy after work.

    Now back to full price.

In the words of Kim - I AM GROPEABLE!!!!!!!

  • Missed out first round waiting on gift cards. Second time lucky.

  • Picked up order from round 1 of this deal - Best Before 15/1/19😁
Store only received stock to fill those orders.

  • I've bought cheaper Asahi in Australia - can I downvote….

    • Only if…
Same product - 500ml cans (from Japan, not smaller bottles produced in other countries).
Cheaper price was available at same time as deal.
      …And you hadn't already upvoted deal😀

🚨 Drinking without sharing - should have shared as one of your many deals🍺

Sure, I've bought cheaper cans - in Japan🇯🇵
      But enjoying these🍻
