Amex has really dropped the ball. They keep offering cashback on stores that, quite frankly, suck (at least in terms of the number of people who will actually shop there). If they want to encourage uptake of amex, they'll need to work on having offers for more useful stores.
I think I've only signed up for one offer this year, and that's on the off chance I'm flying through Sydney and buy something at duty free (usually cheaper to shop elsewhere anyway, other than for booze)
the reasons I keep my amex:
- earns me Qantas points
- has a $100 off $400 offer on HN around Xmas sale, very welcome discount this one
- has good cellar masters offers once or twice a year, so I stock on good wine on the cheapI think it's great, considering $0 annual fee. so.. concentrate on what you get, not what you coud have or would have :)
Yeah I'm really disappointed by the recent offers. Getting worse and worse. Tempted to close my essential, wait 18 month and apply the explorer to get the bonus points. But i dun want to miss out on shop small so…..
I just tried paying with amex at hype website (one of the stores in the offer) and they don't accept amex…
How are you supposed to get credit by paying with amex if you can't pay by amex?
The current spend $50 and get $25 back for Momentum Energy accounts is pretty good. Redeemed on two cards and paid the account in advance.

I just paid online via credit card using the ref number on the back of the bill. My ref number is my account number with a 4 at the end. I had no bill due at the time. I'll post this across at the dedicated thread too.
Just looking at the Mr Porter Website. Why would anyone shop there. All of the prices are at rrp with not a single offer. You can find everything cheaper elsewhere. So why would you visit it?
They usually have sale twice a year. But definitely not now!
unfortunately this is only valid until 18 May, which is roughly a month before the sale starts.
i read the fine prints and there isn't any mention of gift cards anywhere, does that mean you can purchase the amounts in gift cards now, get the statement credits, and spend it later when the sale is on, to maximise the savings?
