Up to 50% Cash Back on Qantas Flights (+ Gift Cards & Premium Gym Disc.) with AIA Vitality (Requires Health Check and Activity)

200

A largely unknown (but valuable) Qantas flight benefit is AIA Vitality’s cash-back offer, which is available on both domestic and international Qantas flights.

The benefit includes sale fares (including major promotional fares) up to Premium Economy, which represents great value. And, because you’re booking with cash at the full rate, you’ll earn Qantas points and status credits at a potentially massive discount!

The premium gym discounts and gift card benefits, as posted here previously, are also a great value! Read a full walk-through on the program and its benefits here.

How to join

AIA Vitality comes bundled with eligible income-protect insurance policies), which are available Australia-wide through the RAC or RACQ. Eligible policies start at around $8 per fortnight (which may be tax deductible, as well). AIA Vitality can only be sold via an accredited financial adviser or via the RAC or RACQ.

Points-earn benefits

  • Up to 50% off 2 Qantas bookings a year (discount subject to your status. You must also pass the AIA Vitality health check to receive a discount over 10% - read more below)
  • Up to $650 in shopping gift cards (including Woolworths eGift cards)

More on gaining the flight benefit!

As mentioned above, the flight discount is dependent on your AIA Vitality status level (see above) and whether you have completed AIA Vitality's Health Check (which adds an additional 6,000 points to your balance).

Here’s an indication on how you can earn points. For example, walk just 7,500 steps a day for 300 days a year and you’re already at 15,000 AIA Vitality points! When you complete the mandatory AIA Vitality Health Check (6,000 additional points) you’re eligible for a 40% Qantas flight discount on two bookings a year.

To complete your health check you can visit a bulk billing doctor or visit a one of the many chemists offering free health checks. The check involves Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, cholesterol and random blood glucose. See the health check form here.

The discount applies to the first two bookings in each AIA Vitality membership year.

The following exclusions apply:

  • Business and higher cabin classes
  • Multi-City and Round the World flights are excluded (indirect or ‘layover’ bookings are eligible)

Example discounts

Here’s a list of some potential examples.

In terms of raw discount, assuming a 40% discount (see requirements directly above) the best value (in terms of $ cash back) is Premium Economy to Europe (London). $3,000 ticket fare (= $1,800 after the $1,200 cash back).

      • Also worth mentioning that you get some discount on Fitbits too but not as good as some of the Fitbit deals found on ozb.

  • Is there a way to log into your daily intake without using a Fitbit or Jawbone?

  • Are there any financial advisers who can give me a quote for this to go through Super? If you're out there, please PM me.

I am very financially literate and I'm happy with the financial products that I've currently got, I just want to pay for this through my Super, which it appears that I need a financial adviser to access.

  • I want to join but I don't have a financial advisor. So my best option is signing up with RAC which has life insurance cover for $8.42/fortnight?

EDIT: I was looking at RACQ and instead of Life Insurance they also have income protection insurance which also includes access to AIA Vitality. Only cost 20c more/fortnight, maybe a better option for those who don't want life insurance

    • I posted on the forum also and didn't find a financial adviser who could help me set it up through super (still looking if you're out there!). Thanks for the pointer about the very small premium increment to income protection insurance; might use that instead.

  • I'm wanting to join this but I'm a little confused. Has it actually expired and you can no longer get the $8 or so price? I can see all the benefits on the aia website, but it's much more expensive to join on there. If anyone can enlighten me how this post has expired, please do so. Thanks

    • Would love to know this too
