  • Image says U3 but title says Class-10

    • +5

They refer to different standards. Class 10 is the 'normal' write speed where is U3 refers to the UHS (Ultra High Speed) class which I believe is more relevant for video recorders.

      It is explained better here

      • Thanks i'll try to understand it better

    • from the way they advertise 100mb/s i'm inclined to believe it's U3

    • +1

      It's a totally misleading title.
Class 10 simply means a guaranteed minimum write speed of 10MB/s where a U3 card means a guaranteed minimum write speed of 30MB/s. You are right to question it.

  • is this fast card and the cheapest so far?

    • +1

Not the cheapest ever, but it is comparable to recent deals.

Local stock so shipping can be quicker than buying from Asia etc.

Speed wise it is good enough for 4K video recording. I use this on my Galaxy S8 with no issues.

      Full specs

    • +1

Decent price for an AU stock card (if you are in a hurry), but if you can wait.. then maybe wait for LITB, GB or Zapals (although I have not seen a recent deal from these guys in awhile)

  • Would it good for switch and 128g enough? Do not buy a lot digital games

    • Will be fine for Switch. I bought the 128gb to go with my Switch from the recent 20% off deal.

    • I use this card on my switch and it works great.

  • Anyone know if the 128GB version will be recognised by a Raspberry Pi 3b?

    • yes should be fine

  • So they upped the price of MicroSD by 20% and now gives a code to get 20% off? Hmmm

    • +3

      Did they?

      Sales history proves otherwise.

The lowest they have sold it for is $65.95. ~5% different with current price.

      • Thats from one seller. I remembered seeing someone selling it for about $53 without the voucher code..

        • Was that a sale price, or a regular price?

        • @eug:

Normal price but I can't seem to find it now. Could also be the Sandisk U1 and not the Samsung U3.

    • I was going to buy 2*64GB last night but decided to wait till today to see if PUMP20 would work, luckily I didn't buy.

No the price is the same except there was a 10% off plus you can use PULL5 to add another 5%.

Can someone please tell me which one should I go with? Sandisk or Samsung ? Both claim to have the same speed but Samsung is around $5 more?

I am going to use them on dash cam bTW.

      • Can't go wrong with either really. As long as it's true they have the same speeds and such.

      • While they both specify similar burst read speeds, they have very different ratings and sustained speeds.

The Samsung 64gb is U3, while the SanDisk 64gb Ultra is U1 at about $5 cheaper.

U1 is fine for full HD recordings, with a minimum sustained write speed of 10MB/s. U3 is for 4K recordings, having a minimum sustained write speed of 30MB/s.

  • How would this fare in a moderately used dashcam? Which MicroSD would anyone recommend that is Ozbargain worthy?

    • It's designed to record 4k footage, so should work perfectly fine. Works well on my s9. Just make sure you find out your max capacity for the dashcam.

    • I use 32 GB EVOs on my dashcams that are used every time I drive.

      Works great.

    • +1

Not very well in my own experience. Dash cams killed TLC microSDs within a year.
MLC type usually lasts longer. Way longer, but not cheap.

  • Would this work for the new Nintendo 2DS XL? Just got my console from that awesome Amazon deal and it only came with a 2GB Micro SD.

    • Was just about to ask the same thing? I'm thinking that it doesn't like SDXC and only the SDHC of the 32gb

      • +1

I had 128GB installed on my normal size new 3DS no problems, and running on CFW too…

        • Thanks! Got one. :)

    • Officially they only support up to 32gb. You can use larger sd cards as long as you download some kind of partition making software and create a new FAT32 partition with a 32kb cluster size. Lots of people do this without any issues.. I'm using a 64gb one in my 3dsxl. In terms of speed these microsd cards are overkill for the 2ds/3ds.

  • Is this message micro sd overkill for just storing and playing music on my phone?

    • Well the price is pretty good for these, overkill? I'd just say you are future proofing.

    • +1

Yes, most phones cannot read that fast off microSDs AND music files don't need fancy cards.

  • -2

Where the hell are you meant to put the code? Ended up fast checkout and paying $20.95 for 32gb!

    • usually when you pay with paypal, you enter the code at the end

      • Depends on your settings, I used a desktop browser and mine jumped straight to PAID / ORDER screen

      • Ah - I moved here from UK and my eBay was still registered to UK not AUS - changed it now, hope it will work in future!

  • -5

Good price on the 128GB card. 32GB and 64GB can be found cheaper at this store with PULL5 voucher.

    32GB: $15.29
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/302401106749

    64GB: $28.11
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/272786088368

You can get the 128GB cheaper through this same store but only if you get the targeted 10% off ebay sitewide offer tomorrow.

    • +4

PULL5 only works with a minimum amount. If purchasing by itself, the original post would still be the cheapest (by a whopping 3 cents).

      • +1

Cheers, I'll edit my comment to reflect that.

Edit: Oops, just noticed I can't edit the original comment anymore.

        • I think it's because I've already replied to it. Sorry!

        • @CrushJelly: My fault haha. I obviously haven't been using the OzB comment section enough :P

      enjoy your fake memory cards

feedback: this seller is bad and sells bad items
feedback: these memory cards are fake

      etc

anyone HK or China based selling cheap memory cards and 99% of the time they are going to be fakes. after you buy one run it through https://www.heise.de/download/product/h2testw-50539 and you'll see

      • +1

        Evidence please?

        • -7

          yeah open your eyes

        • @donkey: @donkey: I replied just after you edited your post which was originally just "enjoy your fake memory cards"

Firstly, no need to be rude. I'll test the 64GB I bought from the seller I linked just above and reply back here. Do realise that even PC BYTE has negative feedback claiming that their memory cards are fake.

        • @Dachshund: Just finished the test using h2testw 1.4 that you linked

          https://drive.google.com/file/d/1G-CQn_knw6cssK3hH2HwDYGT3Mh…

      • I just got my sd card from this deal and it is real not a fake. so your wrong

  • Was looking at 128gbs yesterday. Thanks.

  • Is it possible to confirm these are genuine cards somehow?

    • +2

      PC Byte doesn't sell fakes.

Pro tip: Samsung SD cards are manufactured in the Philippines. If it says made in Korea on the back, it is likely a counterfeit.

  • Bought one for my drone, thanks

  • i bought one.. but are these fake?

    • +7

Highly unlikely. PC Byte have been around for many years and I've bought from them many times. Never had any issues.

Not affiliated at all, but you can check their deal history and look through feedback.

    • I buy SD cards for various raspi projects around the house, have yet to come across a fake MicroSD card from eBay.

Basically the rough price you want to be hovering around is half the dollar value of the number of Gigs on the card (EG: $16 for 32GBs) and ALWAYS check through all the ebay listing information as the picture doesn't necessarily mean that's what they are selling, but the description will call it "unbranded" or "box only" or whatever sneaky stuff they try to pull.

I generally tend towards SanDisk, personally, but an SD card is an SD card imo.

      • I only buy name brand SD cards (e.g. Sandisk, Samsung) because they are mostly used in devices like cameras and phones where data loss could be devastating.

On the other hand, I'll buy cheap USB keys for sharing photos and other files because that is copies of existing data.

        • Yeah, with you on that - alls I was saying was, I can't see a difference between a Samsung Vs a Sandisk Vs a Kingston etc

I think they are literally just the same hardware with a different sticker, tbh.

  • thanks for that
was looking for some cards for car camera
    cheers.

  • +1

As long as its the U3 version it seems to have good reads at ~90MB/s with writes at ~70MB/s

The U1 versions has ~70MB/s reads and ~30MB/s writes

    https://havecamerawilltravel.com/photographer/fastest-micros…

  • anyone received theirs yet?
first time i've had an item past it's expected arrival date from ebay

    • Still waiting. Tracking just shows something about a sortation facility

    • Got mine on Monday or Tuesday.
