  For the Melbourne peeps - what is the attraction of paying $80+ Booking fees for entrance to GABS and then having to pay and line up for beer/merch/food VS. drinking at Beer Deluxe or Mrs Parmas?

    Better beers. More beers, more variety. Beers made exclusively for the event where the brewers are encouraged to be as out there and extravagant as possible. There are also masterclasses and chances to chat with the brewers.

    But why $80? Prices are nothing like that.

    For us it is the 100+ beers brewed especially for the event, most of which won't be available anywhere else.

    $80?! Did you get scalped tickets from Viagogo or something? My ticket was $31 - got the group discount plus another 10% off. Even if you didn't get any discounts, the full online ticket price would be $45.

    The main attraction is the sheer number of different types of beers you can try - about 160 as far as I know for this year. There's also a number of great quality food trucks and lots of games and activities you can do. Plenty of beer merch and freebies as well. The lines are not long at all - most you'll wait is 2-3 minutes.

    I've been to GABS for the last 3 years and have loved going to them. The first year I went with 8 friends, this year we have a crew of 36 people going. If you love beers and enjoy trying different kinds of beers, you can't go wrong with GABS - or any of the beer festivals and events popping up all over the place.

      170 different beers, many brewed especially for the event. Atmosphere, music (last year there was a mobile band-on-wheels which was awesome), circus performers, games, competitions, talk to the brewers, masterclasses, etc.

      Not really like a night at the pub at all.
