It's because it's not an iPhone

Just be careful getting the first gen. https://gizmodo.com/google-appears-to-be-killing-off-the-pix…

If you plan on keeping it for a few years, there's nothing stopping you from flashing it, I guess.

    • Which means current gen may have a limited lifespan as well…

      • +1

Still is providing 3 years of support…

      • Current gen will still get 2 more android versions, and still have another 2.5 years of security updates.

      • -1

They've always had. Google only promises 2 Android updates and security updates for 3 years or something. That was the same for the Nexus phones. But you get prompt and up-to-date patches for those 3 years. I find that incredibly valuable when you compare that to the patches and updates other phone makers give you.

But buying phones at end of life comes at a risk, but no more than getting a phone from a phone maker that is terrible at patches and updates.

        • I would expect Google to push out newer versions on their phones first since they build the os. However now we are being slugged a considerable higher amount more for their phones vs nexus I wish they would support them longer (3 years), just as long as Apple support their phones (5 years) or Microsoft supported their phones (4 years).

    • Security updates for another 1.5 years. OG pixels will get Android P. Still very worth it if you ask me.

Didn't say it wasn't. But if you're someone who hangs on to phones for 5 years or so, this might be a factor to consider.

        • Not too many options get official updates for 5 years. If you're a person that wants their phones to last that long pixel is probably one of the better options because of community support.

        • If you hang onto the phone for 5 years there is only one phone to get, the iPhone. It's currently the only phone to have any kind of support past 3 years. They currently have up to 6 years for current models.

    • Better than brands like lg which give you one year of updates if you’re lucky. Other than apple who else gives updates for several years?

  • Which explains why version 1 of the pixel " non XL " can be bought on ebay for $379.99 brand new " a great price i reckon ".

      Are you quoting yourself?

      • punctuat!on Pedantry?

        • +1

No, it's a legitimate question, are they quoting that it's apparently a "non xl", and that someone else might think that it's "a great price I reckon"?

    • +2

By killing off, they mean not selling from their store, as new pixel is coming out soon making it 2 generations old.

  • Gst invoice?

    • Yes, this product is 100% AU Stock and comes with a Tax invoice that can be used for TRS purposes.

  • Any deal for Samsung Note 8 AU stock 2 yr local warranty from Samsung close to $1000?

  • Does anyone know if this comes with free Google home and headphones in a bundle?

  • Anyone know of any deals for non-xl? I seen to only ever find the OG pixel, or the Pixel 2 XL :/

  • Anyone know if Jb Hifi will come up with a similar deal in the near future? I have some gift cards that I need to use for this phone.
