Sony 65" X8500E 4K HDR TV - $1739 at The Good Guys ($1652.05 with Discounted Gift Cards) + $200 Store Credit

230

Works out to be a really good deal in my opinion.

$1739 is decent already (half of RRP). Buy TGG gift card @ 5% disc = 1652.05. Then get $200 store credit. Effectively $1452.05 (if you view it that way).

  • If this is the Android TV version, I would steer clear.
I have a support tech here right now struggling to fix all of the problems.
They replaced the panel and the motherboard.
Unfortunately, we have to wait for software updates to fix the sluggish loading times, random freezing, apps crashing and random TV reboots.

I have an older model though, KD49x8300C so they may have fixed some of the issues.
Definitely try it out before you buy.

All being said, the Sony support has been really good and helpful but yeah bad implementation going with Android TV.

    • Yeah, this is android

I personally would rather the x9000e much better blacks as its full array backlight + Local dimming so it produces some really nice blacks.. and not edge lit like the x8500e, but really depends on the budget the x8500e is still a good tv

      • Cheers, pulled the trigger on the 65x9000e. $2174 looks like it's the cheapest it's ever been, at least according to ozb

        • Thanks

Thats the best price i've seen this!

with vouchers i can get this for $2065

        • Awesome purchase, you'll love it, I have it in the 55 and paid $1900 a few months back so the 65 for $2100 is great

  • How does this compare with the Panasonic EX600 65" https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/panasonic-65-inches165cm-uhd-…

    • The Hisense 65N7 is better budget friendly TV & has local dimming, currently for sale for $1495 at The Good Guys, I'd recommend that over the X8500e & EX600,
Just realised it's eligible for the the $200 store credit as well(expires really quick tho 13/5/18, So need to make sure you don't forget to use it)

  • Looking for a 65" TV but not sure 7000e or 8500e, anyone know the main difference ?
