  • These are refurbished…

    • Yes I just noticed the seconds label. I know refurbished are usually fine. I got a 32" a couple of months ago and it was just an open box. I'm not sure if Seconds are any worse (like actually repaired).

I almost posted this deal a week or so ago. Combined with cashrewards which is around ($40), there was also 5x flybuys points offer which was about 20,000 flybuys points ($100) value. Would have brought the tv under $4000 easy. Only downside is that, its refurbished. But definitely a good deal!

PS- Price is $4099 since discount is capped at $1000. You may want to update the post OP.

    • How do you get the Flybuys?

      • You would need to link your flybuys account to your ebay account. The flybuys offer I had mentioned has expired when it was 1 point for $1 spent.

They have a different offer now which is 1 point every $2 spent. The email I received from ebay said I'll get 5x points.

For this deal, I would get 10,200 (5 x 2050) points in total.

        Here is the Original Post

    • brought the tv under $4000 easy

You lost $4099. "Value" isn't a substitute for numbers on a ledger. And there is only one ledger for you.

You sound like my wife trying to talk me out of buying it a week ago :D

    • Got my lg 65 c7 for 3650 delivered from Myer boxing day sales.

And JB would have price matched it.

With some good negotiation I reckon you could get below 4k on the lg C7.

Not sure what the minimum price for a Sony A1 is, but 4k for a seconds doesn't sound like a good deal.

Bought a refurb a couple months ago, looked brand new out of box
Had an issue with the built in Wifi, they sent a tech over within a week who fixed it. Follow up all call to make sure it’s all good.
Can’t complain with that, would buy a refurb again.

A company like Sony and most other decent companies do not and would not have 2nds. no such thing

These are returns and/or display stock, used 2nd hand, NOT seconds.

    • +1

Display stock are seconds. As are models with cosmetic imperfections or have been factory reworked.

The kickstand design is a bit odd, make the TV lean toward the ceiling? Look like a giant ipad.

    • Also means you can't put a sound bar in front of the screen as it'll block part of it.

      • +3

The point of this TV is to not have a sound bar. Key feature is the sound out of the screen effect.

        • The sound bar is not only for the tv,

        • And the point of a home theatre system is to complement the image from the TV with even better audio.

        • @potplanty: Exactly. No one seriously looking at this tv would ever consider a soundbar a satisfactory solution for audio.

        • @soothslayer: A soundbar is only one channel out of a possible 8 (or more) channel setup. Of course they're not using only a soundbar.

  • I am guessing the dead pixel returns end up somewhere.

I bought a factory second TV in 2012 that's still my main TV and doing well. The only issue was a stretch on the side of the bezel, which isn't even visible from the front. If the price is right, my advice is not to hesitate buying a factory second TV. My projector is also a refurbished one, no issues there either.

I bought x9300e 65 seconds from sony ebay store, it looked like brand new, no cosmetic issue that I could find. Great shipping so happy with it. Just didn’t know about the flybuys

I purchase tv over a month ago. This is my two cents. As big Sony TV fan and someone who use to sell TV for a living. So there maybe bias.

TV stand needs a of depth to stay up. It's super heavy and need two people with decent strength to move around. Sound is reasonable and clear but if you need bass. I recommend a sound system. I got the Bose soundbartouch 300. Two five you an idea what the sound quality is like. The soundbar without the subwoofer sound similar to the tv speaker without the directional sound. It will do for most people. Thou with a subwoofer its next level. Picture quality wise it great. I found it did colour temperature very well. So what I mean is skin tone, the tv is very good at cool or warmer colors. Samsung is known for warmer(Vivid colors) and sony was more netural colour(natural), but now sony have hit the mark. Everyone likes colour different on a tv so this can be adjusted very well. Motion wise it does everything okay depending on the input. I had to change some setting as per recommended on reddit and it did wonders to it. The out of the box setting had issues with motion Sony never use to have this issue. When I sold them 4 years ago.

It doesn't have amazon alexia compatibility in Australia. At the price it is now even for a second I would buy it. Sony quality and after service is second to none. I one time got a TV replaced for a customer he purchase 10 years. Only sony would do that. Got a customer for life after that.

    • Yeah this is absolute rubbish. Sony won't replace your set in line with ACL if they deem it to be past a certain age. For my last Sony set which was two and a half years old when it broke they just offered me a 40% discount on the RRP of a new set. Terrible company.

      • From my experience when I use to sell them and had problems. Sony would never need to use ACL againist them. Even out of warranty like i point out up above. This tv was 10 years old, had an issue they gave the guy basically 10K credit to buy a new TV. He got everything sony and customer for life. I dont work in the industry anymore but Sony 100% always takes cares of their customers when I was dealing with them. If you had issue they would always kept the customer happy. It was the repairer that would usually let down the company, they wouldnt tell sony that was a delay on parts and customer would get angry. Once sony found out they would instantly offer a credit to the store where they bought from or if it was out of warranty they would offer the similar model. It just depends on how you start when you contact them. I've heard horror stories from sony too. Most of time Sony wasn't aware of the issue.

  • Don't buy a Sony if you care about your TV lasting more than a couple of years. They won't help you if it breaks and you'll have to follow all the ACL processes. I'm currently in the middle of this nightmare. You've been warned.

  • I bought a Sony KVHR36M31 (I think that's the right model number) King of TV's at the time. Cost what then was a fortune. Got a 5 year warranty. It died about two days after the warranty expired! Managed to fix it myself and got another couple of years out of it.

  • TV worked for 2 hours tried turning it on the next morning and broke, Sony sent a technician he tried turned it on, told us to get a replacement.Been 4 days now and Sony's making excuses that the invoice I sent in the wrong format and second time it was that the technician hasn't sent his report.
