  • How do you know if you're targeted? Should we expect an email or promotion within My eBay?

    • I didn't get any emails, but clicking on the link I found out I was able to enrol. Just got to try

      • Fair enough, I was trying from my phone earlier but getting this when trying from a PC:

Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

    • T&C

You are eligible for this promotion if you have received an email from eBay inviting you to participate in it

  • From the FAQ, looks like you pay an extra fee - does anyone know what the fee actually is? It's all pretty vague -

    How is the fee calculated?
We calculate the fee by referencing the trending price for similar items at the time of listing. We then select a percentage of that price as the fee to give your item the best chance of being featured in the premium placements exclusively reserved for this service.

    • I know, i cant work out how much they want for this!
Its seems like yet another level to seperate people willing to pay more than 10% to be able to been seen on eBay…

Dodgy offer. The final fee they charge could quite possibly over $10, unless the item you sell is priced at $10 or less.

  • Anyone managed to figure out the fees they charge on a sold 'promoted lite' listing?

  • What exactly is "Promoted Listings Lite"? I read the details, but can't work out what the difference is between a standard listing?

    • I think they just bump your ad to the top a bit more than a standard listing

      • I assumed the same, and clicked through the links, but there doesn't appear to be any extra buttons or options to press or click. I wonder if they only have the iOS version working and the desktop implementation hasn't been completed yet?

Information on fees is sketchy at best. This is all I could get out of the eBay rep I spoke to:

Sellers only pay ad fees for this service if a buyer clicks their ad, then purchases the promoted item. Example: Seller created a campaign with 10% as the ad rate they are willing to pay. An item in that campaign sells for $100 and postage is $5. The ad fee they would pay would be $100 x 10% = $10. So there is not an exact fee it depends on the cost of your item.

How do i actually even use this? Quick listing doesn't even have an option to promote my listing …..
Can't find the button anywhere and it says i can promote a listing i already have up if i edit it but cant find that too

From what I can gather you have to set your price according to their recommendations which in my experience is almost always lower than what I'm willing to sell at and then they set the promoted ad fee. You see the ad fee they want to apply before you agree to promoting your listing which appears to be around 6.6% for most items but for a pair of shoes I listed, they wanted an ad fee of 11%. That's on top of your regular final value fees.
Low price + promoted listing will mean that your items will probably sell quickly so only really worthwhile if you are wanting to get rid of stuff quickly and aren't too fussed about how much you receive.

I listed a $30 item using Promoted Listings and this was the outcome:

A Promoted listing fee which is 9.9% of the final sale price (equal to $2.97 inclusive of GST) still applies if your item is bought through a Promoted listing.
