          @MelbBargainChaser77:
Haha your calculations are right too, but I'm taking the approach of "savings off card value", which was $100, whereas your calculation is off the initial purchase price value of the card which is $106.95.
There's a $6.95 difference between our savings figure, so that's where the difference is.

I guess we're both correct, but from different viewpoints :)

      • Why do people post about such exploits. Its just going cause Woolworths to restrict future promotions. Could end up like Coles where you can only claim once per flybuys cards and have difficulty paying with giftcard.

        • well woolworths hq will see the transaction either way (i.e. 73 gift cards were purchased in 75 minutes at one store). I'm just thinking could woolies see this as a misuse of their staff discount by a team member? it would be hard to argue 73 gift cards are for personal use.

        • @chk: Woolworths wouldn't necessarily notice such a large purchase on their system, but I'm almost certain they will be monitoring this thread.

I've heard of people sharing their staff discount card with family and friends and getting caught out as the system flags it for too many different credit/debit cards being used.

        • It would be hard to argue they werent for personal use. And over the years Ive done such big card purchases before using my staff discount- no issues.

        • +1

How is this an exploit? Im entitled to use my staff discount card. Im entitled to purchase discounted egift card, and I was entitled to purchase as many as I wanted as no limit was placed by the seller in the store, nor was there anything in the fineprint restricting the amount I could purchase (although my store did tell me I can only get 5 cards per transaction) or the points I could earn.

      • +2

I started buying them in batches of 5, and was paying for the next lot of 5, with the 5 I had just purchased

Even with 5% Staff Discount, the next purchase of 5 would still require more than $500 right? In fact, an extra $8.01 per lot of 5 cards. So how is it possible to use only the initial 5 EFTPOS cards to get the next lot of 5 without the extra $8.01?

Oh, I get it! The initial 5 cards net you a total of 11,260 points, and then when you purchased the next lot of 5, it deducted $50, which means that you only owed $458.01, which you can do split payment over 5 EFTPOS cards to pay. Wow, that's genius.

Just purchased with wish e-gift card at self checkout.

    • Did you need staff intervention or you could do it all by yourself?

      • Yes but before payment so you can choose to Pay by any method including e-gift card.

        • Multiple cards in one go or one at a time?

        • @maxi: only bought one so far.

    • Was it new or old style software on the self serve POS?

    • I did it successfully with the new style POS.

    • Yep me too. Ashgrove, Brisbane.

  • Just went to marshfield woolies and they said 5 per customer

  • is there a maximum number of cards you can buy per rewards account for this promo? so if I buy 5 x $100 eftpos cards in 5 separate (or same transaction) transactions will my single rewards card account be credited with 5 x 2000 rewards points? can anyone clarify please?

  • I purchased more than 5 and paid with an e-gift card. The only limitation is what the staff is willing to sell you or availability of stock.

    • Did you use one rewards card please?

    • +1

And you got 2000 points for each of them?

      • +4

I stopped at 15 on the one rewards card and I got 2000 points for each one.

        • +2

Just have to hope that whoever is behind these EFTPOS THE Perfect giftcard does not go belly up or closes shop before we have used up all the cards…
Not sure that Woolworths would come good with people that have bought them in industrial quantities!!!

        • @maxi: Could be like Dick Smith all over again.

        • @maxi: why? The money has been loaded on to the card to be used at any eftpos machine. Far less risky than a store card like dick Smith.

        • @wxyz234: You're still an unsecured creditor to Blackhawk. If they go broke you have to get in line behind all the other creditors.

        • @JIMB0: be more worried about eftpos going bust. Moneys on the card. How do they take it off?

        • +2

@wxyz234: EFTPOS is just the payment system (like visa), the money is held in a bank (possibly Heritage Bank) and belongs to Blackhawk until you redeem it by making a purchase.

        • +1

          @JIMB0:
          You are right mate.
EFTPOS: Electronic funds transfer at point of sale.
If Blackhawk dies so do the cards.
          Long live Blackhawk!!!

I just bought 6 in total at self check out. When you scan the gift card, it shows that you are getting 2000 reward points for the transaction. Initially I bought 5 but then tried to scan another one and it gave me the 2000 points again. I used the previous $50 credit to pay for the sixth card and was given another $10 for the next one. Paid with egift card of course. Staff member had to log in twice but they were not fussed. No one was paying attention as to how I paid for them.

    • 2140 points per card.

  • +1

Went to rural woolies and none of the people cared how many I got.

    • How many points can you get on one rewards card pls?

I am planning to get 2500 dollars to pay for my son,s preschool fee term 2. I only got one rewards card. Will I get 2000 points each gift cards even if I get 25 cards?

      • +1

        Yes, you will.

      • +2

yes you will, i know someone who bought 100+ today, and used the same card

        • i know someone who bought 100+ today

Holy shit, that's what I call professional. That takes balls to do (all the staff intervention during the purchase process, the glary eyes while you carry a forest's worth of paper and cardboard to the counter). I unfortunately don't have those kind of balls.

        • +1

I don't even know where to spend $100 EFTPOS, if I have one.

        • @MathNerd:
My guess is that they either know the staff at the checkout or go to different check outs each time

      • School allow you to pay with 25cards?

        • Yes, they do. They only accept cards. No cash or cheque.

      • +1

It should show on the screen that you will get 2140 points for the purchase before you make payment which should include e-gift card.

    • I went to any every woolies and virtually no one cared,

there were a few who were worried abut how many the system could handle

  • and i forgot to scan the reward card after buying the gift cards… :(

    • Did you purchase with a discounted egift card? At least then you're only about $1 out of pocket.

      • $1.95

        • +1

          $1.60

      • Actually it qas $105.95 and i bought 2
        So total lost is $1.9

        • It's been reported below the old cards with only $5.95 fee don't award rewards points anyway!

        • @sween64:
Ah i must have missed that

  • Anyone manage to pay any other bills with the eftpos cards?

    • If you can pay them at Aus Post you should be able to use them.

      • +3

aust post charge a fee, about $2 I believe

        • For all BPAY or does it depend on the bill?

        • @sween64:
          Depends on the bill.
Typically (from my experience so YMMV), all utilities can be paid via split payment and no extra charge, at the post office.
Things like rego and rates typically require full payment so the self serve post office machines can't be used to pay it off in chunks, so you have to awkwardly go to the counter and pay a $800+ rego bill using 8+ gift cards!

        • -1

On some things yes, but on many things no.

        • -1

          @MathNerd:

          Hi,

Do you know how to split the amount at the self checkout at AusPost to pay the bill? I can only pay the full amount and there is no way to split the amount like Woolworths. Thanks.

          Edit: it’s ATO bill

        • -1

@T-man: This is determined by the biller, not by AusPost. So for example, I tried paying my VicRoads ~$800 rego bill in January this year via EFTPOS gift cards, but the terminal wanted the whole amount in one shot. Had to embarrassingly waddle over to the counter and explain to them how I'd like to pay a rego bill using 8 x individual cards. I don't like doing these things as the people on the other end get frustrated.

        • -1

          @MathNerd:
Did you pay for your rego at aupost? Any fees for using eftpos gift cards? I paid mine at the VicRoads branch last year, they did it for me…took a long time for 8 cards to go through as it's something unusual for them. But they were happy and even apologised to me for the waiting time

        • -1

@ausvicee: No fees at all, it's just that sometimes I get glared at for doing something unusual and I don't like explaining what I'm doing, and how it's being a professional OzBargainer.
I thought the people at VicRoads would've lost it at you for making their life harder (or would have questioned the source of the cards and called the cops on you).

        • -1

          @MathNerd:
Lol…they did ask me casually why I took the trouble instead of just paying online…so I just said I get more credit card points this way

        • -1

@ausvicee: Ah, that's good. Maybe I'll try that next time, I hate confrontation (not that this is confrontation per se, but you get the gist…). That's why I love self serve machines. They don't judge you nor talk to you.

        • -2

          @MathNerd:

Thanks. I tried to pay ATO bill and if I want to split the bill, I need to put $100 item, pay, wait for the receipt and repeat the process again. It’s very time consuming.

        • -1

@T-man: this is at the counter right?

        • -2

          @MathNerd:

No, at the self serve, the counter said no to any gift cards

      • I just went and tried to pay a bill using a couple of these EFTPOS gift cards and the guy didn't even look at the bill, just told me that gift cards weren't accepted as payment for any bills.

I challenged this, given it said on my bill that payment was possible at Australia Post using EFTPOS and these were EFTPOS gift cards which should operate the same as a savings card, but no dice.

Do I just try another Australia Post outlet?

        • Yep. Maybe go to an Aus Post owned one rather than a franchisee.

        • @sween64: perhaps misleading when I said "outlet". This was at a proper Australia Post "PostShop". Paddington, Brisbane, to be exact. I'll try the one in the city on Monday.

        • I tried to pay rates on Friday it was declined. She even let me swiped the eftpos card, I think something has been done to decline this eftpos card. Maybe someone who works at Aust Post can provide more information as to why. I have been paying bills at this Aust Post branch using this eftpos card in the last two to three years. This is the first time it has been declined.

        • @endolphin:

Try the one at garden city, it works well and it’s self serve, don’t bother with the staff

        • @wc: I've paid rates using eftpos gift cards a few times at the council counter no problems. Never tried paying at aupost.

    • +1

you can fund tab account with eftpos card. but not a gamer? place a bet on interest rate no change then withdraw $101

      • Is there any tax?

      • How to fund tab account with eftpos?

      • I don't believe it can be funded online.

  • If you buy more than 1 Eftpos card, can you do it in 1 transaction (and get points for all the cards)? Or you have to do one card per transaction?

    • +1

There was a limit of 10 cards per transaction when I did it this morning, all bonus points came in for the 10 cards. And they allowed multiple transactions after the 10.

      • Thank you! Is the limit of 10 cards by the checkout machine, or by the staff?

        • The checkout machine didn't process card no 11 when they tried, nothing seemed to happen when they scanned it

  • Woolworths Garden City QLD is the store to avoid, staff was very unfriendly and asked me why I buy this card, dump dump dump…

    • +2

Tell them you are sending it to China for them to use in China because they can use Australian eftpos there. Lol

      Daigou!

      • -3

Really??? I didn’t know that we can use the Aussie eftpos card in China, any foreign fee if using there?

        • You can't. Sorry it was a sarcasm for them.
          Hehe

  • Woolworths Willetton Southlands, WA limits 5 gift cards per customer at self check out. Not many cards left.

  • +8

Caution: there is card with $5.95 purchase fee(old card) you wont get 2000 points.

    • +3

Another caution is the David Jones gift card. It looks similar this perfect gift card, I literally picked up the David Jones gift cards and had to return them back to the shelf.

    • Seems to be a sudden abundance of the old $5.95 card.

    • Perhaps contact Woolworths Rewards to sort it out

      • +2

Contected them and being told i did not read the term and conditionn which in thatvwoolworths tgey haveca banner above the giftcard and the picture in the card is identical(not clear enough the see the word $5.95 puchase fee or $6.95 ).

Next resort is FT as it is 100% deceptive

      • Contacted Rewards but they dismissed my issue, despite the Woolworths staff picking out these 5.95 fee cards for me. Have been told to speak with my WW store
I'm disappointed by the unhelpfulness of the Rewards team. How hard would it be to manually add points to maintain goodwill?

        • -2

They told me to use the 5.95 card to buy 6.95 card to earn point. I told them i will be end up $13.9 fee to get 2000 points.

Next revenue is Fair Trading. As the banner and picture is so deceptive and they should not put out the card under this promotion.

        • Went to FT and got call from Woolworths and they understand the promotion should have been run better and provide me with the point as a good wiil.

  • I have bought 5 cards and got points for all, can anyone confirm i will get more points if i buy another 5 cards? My store clearly displayed a limit of 5 cards

    • +2

I bought over 10 and received all bonus points without any issues on the one rewards card. My local store didnt care.

    • +1

My store clearly displayed a limit of 5 cards

That's just the store being stingy and capping purchases at "retail quantities" (as they put it). Nothing to do with how many can be bought and points received from the system's end though :)

    • Bought 60 over multiple transactions and got reward points on two cards for all. Nearly bought the $5.95 charge ones by accident, but noticed lack of reward points on scan thankfully!

      • Any tips on liquidifying these eftpos cards or you just spending them in store?

        • We have business spend, so don't have any trouble using them up in store - quicker than I'd like to be honest. Rotten bills :/

  • Bought 3 with digital Wish cards yesterday.
