          @Agret:

Just picked mine up this morning, no issues!

    • Could i also please get a copy of the receipt? Tried to PM but can't seem to :(

      • Let me know if you manage to get it price matched!

    • Tried to PM, could you please send me a copy of the receipt. Thanks!

  • It should be 140 off…

  • I managed to get it . I have extra booked if someone in SA interested. Be quick .

    • Can you ship to Vic :)

    • im interested if still available :) here in SA

      • PM me ur number will give you ref of store and person who kept one aside for me.

        • Hi you're not allowing new private msgs. Can you msg me instead please TA!

        • new account so cannot send messages, looks like they won't honour the price unfortunately from what I read above :(

        • @leebonese: if you could send to me ill give it a shot anyway, cheers!

        • @OzHan: Msged you

    • Hey mate, did you get the second one? and are you willing to sell it?

      • @Docccy - If you are still interested in buying one please let me know.

  • I bought it click and collect, card charged, they called to let me know it was a pricing error and I would get refunded.

  • so if I got the confirmation email will they still cancel it? there was none in stock so I used the delivery option

    • Yep, mine was all confirmed but now received two emails saying was an error and will be refunded.

  • Pricing error, orders will most likely be cancelled…

  • "unfortunately your order has not passed our verification process so it has been cancelled"

    I placed my order @ 8.27 am

  • My online order has been cancelled

  • so if I partially paid via gift card how will they reimburse that?

  • JB camberwell confirmed that it was a pricing error, but would've sold it at that price to walk in customers.

Hope others were able to get this bargain.

    • -1

would've sold it at that price to walk in customers.

Other people's orders with delivery were first confirmed, then cancelled, yet people who managed to rock-up to the store were able to score? WTF

      • +4

They're not going to chase them down the street and force a refund of the order

        • -5

The point is, it wasn't a price error when it was scanned at check-out.

      • When sold in store a different set of rules apply. Can’t remember which it is around a contract is formed etc.

Someone here might be able to enlighten us.

I think in-store purchases are technically 'I, as customer, offer you JB to buy this item at price $X.' JB can accept that price and then the contract is formed. The advertised price is somewhat a guide of how much I should be offering for them to accept that offer.

So in this case, a buyer offered $1298 and the store accepted it. Transaction final.

The online sales are different as they include a great deal number of conditions as part of that sale/contract. While you could argue that the contract was already finalised when they took the money, they again, do have their built in conditions for that particular (online) sale. It'd be no different to someone enacting a cooling off period after signing a contract.

        • +1

          @Porker:

Pretty much this. Once the exchange of goods and money is complete, the transaction is over. The merchant cannot force the consumer to refund or pay the difference.

With the online purchase, only one part of the transaction is complete (exchange of money). Therefore, they are within their rights to reject and refund (unfortunately for us).

Congrats to those who got in before the pricing error was discovered.

Condolences to the staff member who accidentally 50% off'd these laptops and is now looking for work.

    • +4

Hopefully that staff member bought one of these laptops at a bargain price for himself to help with the job search

    • Why would they be looking for work? Shit happens, most companies get this, they'll write it off and move on. If the issue is deemed big enough they'll put mitigants in place for the next time eg: a discount approval workflow that needs first or second line manager approval etc.

      • Well you would hope they would fix the process and put controls in place so no single error could propagate. But most places would blame the employee and change nothing.

  • Just tried Hobart JBHIFI. No luck. They said someone ordered online and picked it up before they corrected the mistake.

  • Hn price is $3699, more expensive than my 15 inch macbook pro with touchbar which i paid 3k.

    • The HP model at that price has different specs to the JB model - UHD, 1TB SSD, Win10 Pro.

Amazing price for those that got the JB one tho.

  • Should do a thread on the number of price error from each of the major retailers in the history and see which is the winner.

  • +1

Sucks in the west… all the shops are still closed when shits going down.

    • And now everything's gone to shit!

  • +1

Wow!! Congrats to those who managed to buy it in store or pricematch at Officeworks. clap clap

    Jelly tho! :)

  • +1

Walked into Jb hifi Cairns and picked up the last one (although I paid a little more at $1333). Still seems like a good price. Thanks OP

    • Oh you bastard! I opted for online stupidly, should have walked into the store…

      • If yours hasn't been cancelled it might be on hold in the back readying for delivery?

Edit: I'd give them a call and find out

    • If you paid a little bit more how much did ya end up paying?

      • $1332.40, although looking at the receipt again I was charged $30 something for using Amex

        • +1

I'd just consider the Amex charge a 'RIP JB guy that originally entered the details incorrectly' tax ;). Well done getting it though - I don't imagine there'll be a deal this good for an equivalent laptop in a long time.

  • Anyone have a screenshot of the JB hi-fi page with the proce?

    • How will that help?

      • Just being hopefully with that and a receipt we can get a pricematch. Longshot but who knows

        • Price matches usually need to be in stock and they might decide to verify that the price is right. See below- not working, as it should.

    • +1

Can't imagine it will do any good, but GL anyway.

      • Thanks sir, with this and receipts from JB and Officeworks it's worth a try

      • tried this in QV Office works melb, dint work

      • JB Hi-Fi North Sydney didn't work

      • The price jacking for sale though… It is listed as 2298 now. $400 less!

  • +4

Rules of thumb: when these pop up online, head to store instead of order online.

Ok i got it. Next time thanks.

  • Placed my order @ 8:06 AM with delivery. Order status is 'completed'. Delivery is marked as 'shipped'. No cancellation email yet. Fingers crossed.

  • Still waiting for my cancellation email…..I paid with cc and some of my paypal credit….hope it won't be a pain when they refund me :(

  • Got the cancellation email.

Your order contained the [Description] that unfortunately was incorrectly priced at $18.99 on our website. The correct price for this item should have been $54.

I have asked them to place an order for 1000 of them at $54. I will be rich if I get the 1000, wish me luck :P

I got two from jb I’ll upload receipt $1298 in store pickup

    • Are you in VIC?

    • I can pick one from you in CBD today if you dont need one. Will be helpful :)

    • Great, please upload the receipt.
Also, PM me if you want to sell one :)

      • @ehsad Send me a PM if you are interested in the HP Spectre

    • PM sent

  • Got a ready for shipping notice and a tracking number… did I win the lottery for shipping???

    • What time did you order?

      • ~8:15

        • Good for you but frustrating for me, I ordered at 8:11 and it’s been cancelled

        • @Chrissy213:
          Sorry to hear that =/

My tracking number is now active, so its really unfortunate for you.

    • +1

Yep, I also just got a courier pickup notification. ^5

  • Missed out. Called the local JB in SA and they told me was price error and price has gone up now. If anyone here has bought a spare one and wants to sell it off to a student ozbargainer, pm me and I will take it off your hands (in exchange for money).

  • If anyone who had a rush of blood and has picked one up and no longer wants it drop me a pm (dreaming)…

  • +1

Tried at JB Hi-Fi North Sydney and they've been aware of it since morning and won't honour any purchases…

  • I ordered online pretty early on and my order has been cancelled.

  • +1

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how did i miss this!!!!!

    • +6

This is how OzBargain addiction starts.

Grab a hot chocolate and start hitting F5.

    • +1

Its a jb hifi lottery, not everyone can be a winner :)

  • I still haven't receive my cancellation email. Should I wait or try my luck to collect it? Wife tried to collect it on my behalf but got told must be collected in person with photo ID but also it will most likely be cancelled. But I haven't receive any cancellation emails. It could end up being a 1hr round trip waste of time.

  • So did anyone (other than the person who OW matched and one other) actually get this price? Shouldn't the deal be changed to a price error?

    • I got an active tracking number with the parcel leaving from Ambervale (Sydney)

      • Has your active tracking number done anything? It looks like they're delaying shipment, but haven't cancelled my order.

        • That’s exactly what I’m thinking… no movement.

  • +4

I hate seeing these posts. Makes me wanna punch myself for not checking ozb every 10 minutes

    • +3

Every 10 minutes?! Do you realise how many deals you are missing out on?

Oz Bargain, 2 minutes of news, Oz Bargain, 3 minutes of news, Oz Bargain, 2 minutes of work, Oz Bargain, 1-2 emails, Oz Bargain, 3 minutes of work, Oz Bargain, 2 minutes of news, Oz Bargain, 7 minutes of work… 7 minutes of work??!! and I just missed out on yet another great deal…

Don't make the same mistakes as I do! No more than 5 minutes with your Oz Bargain tab minimised or off your screen!

  • Has anyone login to JB and check their online orders?

Mine says completed and status shows "shipped" in green.

I haven't received any update regarding my order since I place my order ~8:30am this morning…..not really sure what's going on….but maybe there's still some hope?

    • I have the shipped status similar like yours. I also got an email regarding my tracking number, and I know where its come from.

      • Mine says 'Cancelled' so you guys might have gotten lucky!

  • Back up at $2293

  • -1

Anyone willing to sell one let me know.
    Thanks

    • @mralexkwok - Feel free to send me a message if you are still interested to buy.

      poor uni student

What happened to your MacBook Pro from 5 years ago?

Were you a student then as well? Maybe that is what made you poor and should help you decide whether you really need a high end device as a student ;)

    • +2

When i was a poor unit student - i bought myself a budget laptop for under $400. Not sure why you need a top of the line model like this one…

  • Same thing happened recently with the chrome ultra…

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/349385

  • Might have been a pricing error but this is about what they sell for this in the US unless I have the model wrong.

  • If you are willing to sell one , PM me :)
