Seems like a price error but fantastic price!!

    • +2

Definitely. I just had a look at the JB brochure for the 26-30 April stocktake sale.
There it is, 13-AE010TU at the top right on page 2.
It is advertised as $2293, $405 off the ticket price of $2698.

According to the sale brochure that price includes a pen though. I think I would give that up.

  • Only thing missing is dedicated graphics card

    • +3

      Thunderbolt 3 available

  • Damm. Is this the current model?

    • Latest model

  • +1

Is it screen-writable and a pen is included?

  • -5

Surface Book on sale for around $1600 has a better screen.
Also includes a pen. Not sure how the GPU compares.

    • Much more expensive…also is it the same specs?

      • Surface book

        Pros
        Has a dedicated GPU

        Cons
        An older processor
Has a 4K screen (imho no good for 13" as Windows display scaling is crap)

        • 4K screen also totally kills battery life.

        • The screen is awesome. Once you have used it, you won't want to go back to 1920.

I have no problems if you guys buy this, it is a great price!
Just providing some options for those who are on the fence and want a better GPU and screen.

        • @congngo: the screen is awesome but 1920 screens are also awesome in the 13" form factor and don't result in a desktop that has some things absolutely tiny, other things normal sized and other things normal sized but blurry as hell from upscaling. Avoid high DPI screens for now on the Windows platform as there are too many tradeoffs due to the majority of apps not being designed as DPI aware.

        • @Agret: I have been using windows 10 set at 200%, works and looks beautiful. I run Office and different development IDE, and games. Works fine, nothing is tiny or blurry. It was an issue a few years ago, but Windows 10 has finally caught up.

    • Where have you seen this for $1600? Please provide a link.

      • Usually from Microsoft eBay during the 20% promo.

    • I had both. The x360 form factor works better.

      • With the Surface Book you can flip the screen around, so the form factor should be similar?
Which form has this got that is better?

        • Apologies for my misunderstanding, I was talking about the Surface Pro vs the x360. You're right.

    • +1

The is already a deal for that

    • Is the ram upgradeable in that one ?

  • +1

Man that's insane. I've been waiting to replace my aging Sony vpcsa290x with something lighter. Travel a lot for work and really notice it's heft in my bag.

    This price can't be correct…

    • +4

Had to buy one. Just rediculous price. Ill try sell my old laptop for a couple hundred to hedge the price even lower…

        BOOO!!!

Insane price. Just bought one, hope the sale does not get cancelled

    • +1

      My order just got confirmed

  • +1

    Fingers crossed

  • hope its not a pricing error.

  • -1

What is their return policy for online orders?

  • +1

Pricing error guys just messaged my mate at JB. I would rush into the store asap or purchase online in the hopes of getting one.

    • Says $1400 off so not like they entered wrong price.

      • They could've entered the discount percentage onto the wrong model of HP laptop

    • Tried to order online for in store pickup in Sydney, closest store with stock was regional victoria or something…

    • +1

      Thanks. Bought 2.

  • +1

Got one with email confirmation, hence no pricing error.

    • +2

      That's instant lol

    • +3

They could cancel the order before it is dispatched though.

    • +1

It was a pricing error Genius..

  • +1

Judging by the lower spec model that JB also sell which is now more expensive than this model it's gotta be a pricing error. I just ordered mine click and collect and it has been 'confirmed', now just gotta get through to 'ready for collection'.

Should have been $400 off but they accidentally made it $1400 off i'd say.

  • +2

Ordered. Email saying payment pending…damn you ozbargain, I don't even need a laptop.

    • -3

Updated email saying order confirmed and is being delivered. Meh, flog it on gumtree for a small profit. #winning.

  • Lol such a good deal

  • Wish it had a gtx1050 though

    • My colleague has the 7 series cpu x360 but essentially the same product line. There is no way it can fit a dedicated gpu with the thinness of it.

      • fair enough, do you know if this chipset can handle games like CSGO without fps lag?

    • +2

It has thunderbolt 3 so you can connect an external GPU to it :)

  • Price to good surely…very nice machines.

  • no longer available

  • +1

    Sold out?

  • Damn gone

  • DAMN! that price!!! Just bought a XPS 13 and due for delivery today.. now I'm thinking to sell the XPS and get this one instead :/.. Although I like how XPS looks better

  • +3

JB reserves right to cancel orders when:

    (c) Goods ordered were subject to an error on the Website, for example, in relation to a description, price or image, which was not discovered prior to the Order being accepted;

  • Noooooooo! Sold out 😫

  • +1

Looks like another ozbargained success story here. Was there when I bought it around 10 minutes ago, and now it's gone! Well done guys :D

    • And now it's back… quick guys, get in!

EDITED: nvm, looks like the page is back up again, but no stock. :(

  • looks like they have removed it, let us know if they still honour it

  • I was adding it to cart and they removed it. Likely a price error, hopefully whoever was able to order it will get it honored.

  • Damn. As soon as i hit place order it went out of stock. Nice deal OP. Still looking for light weight 2 in 1 preferably with pen.

    • Damn it. Gone between basket and checkout

  • +1

How accurate is the online stock checker? As stores haven't opened in Perth yet.

  • Pricing error :( hopefully those that placed orders get honoured

    • Did you receive email?

    • As in… you've purchased and now been notified it was a pricing error and it won't be honoured?

  • It's not out of stock tho..? When you choose pickup option all the stores say they have them in stock

    • You bit slow, link is removed?

  • +4

Thanks OP, great find! Just got order ready for pickup confirmation SMS. Hopefully they don't cancel the order between now and when I pick it up if they realised it was a pricing error.

    • +1

Lucky you! If I were you I'd find some crappy excuse, and bolt right out from office to go pick it up right now. Still waiting for my pickup confirmation…

    • +1

Did you make it to the store?

  • If anyone is keen to flip it for a small profit in Adelaide, pm me.

  • I want one :(

    • +1

So is 3000+ other ppl :)

  • +1

Will be shocked if this is honoured, 1 upvote to the first OzBargainer to show proof of pickup

    • +36

OzBargained the heck out of this deal. I took the gamble of heading down to one of the few Officeworks locations in Qld to hold stock and got them to price beat before JB's were out of stock. Total out of pocket as I waltzed out of the store was $1,233.10. I'll take that 1 upvote thanks @railspider :P

      • +3

Wow that is ridiculous, it's a whole different computer model lol, congrats!

        • Is it a better or worser model compared to the one you listed?

        • @Amaurys:
Only difference looks to be the OW model only has a 320GB SSD vs the 512GB in this deal

      • +1

I'm convinced that JB's website was a pricing error, but you've earned your OzBargain badge with that price beat trick. Very well done!!!

      • Do you think OW will sell if we show this receipt?

      • +1

You sir, are a true wizard!

      • sent you a PM!

  • +1

Keep in mind that this is the consumer version. Not to be confused with the corporate one: HP EliteBook x360 1030. The corporate one used to be called spectre but they renamed it and now they are cashing in on the brand.

    • The spectre has been used with this version for a couple years now I thought? Got my x360 year ago ish

    • What are the diffs?

      • +2

Even though the specs may appear the same, generally, the corporate models use internal components of a higher grade (not to mention much more time spent on testing and QA). That is to say that when electrical components are made they are graded by benchmark testing and thrown into graded bins. The highest grade automatically goes to military and sold at a higher rate. As you go down the range you may find that a CPU will not perform as well, or a ram module might not be as stable. This can be cause the tiny tracks and transistors used these days may have some irregularity but still function to some extent. They use built in error recovery/error handling to deal with the problematic stuff for the most part but sometimes it cant cope. The reason the corporate stuff gets better grade is because when compared to retail its worth much more to the producer.

        • +1

Can somebody confirm this is more than a conspiracy theory?

        • @pizzaguy: Do a google search for "CPU Binning" if you have time and have a read.

        • @pizzaguy: Do a google search for "CPU Binning" if you have time and have a read.

        • @pizzaguy: this has been the case not just for cpus but also gpus and memory modules. Not wanting to waste the silicone wafer.

There has been the reverse where higher clocked cpu was sold as lower clocked one due to demand.

The rumour was the celeron 300a was a higher binned cpu but due to demand for lower clocked cpus higher clocked cpus were sold as lower clock speeds.

  • Definitely error.

Just wait for the hour to clock over and make a decision then. It's how I don't impulse buy these bargains. Then when the hour finally clocks over wait another hour.

  • +2

my boss just got a call to say it was a pricing error

  • +7

I hesitated buying online and missed out too, but quickly went into the Elizabeth St store (Mel) at around 930am and saw the laptop on display at the original price - got the salesman to scan it and it came up at the discounted price! Obvs all stock is gone BUT he's mentioned that there will be another 18 arriving in stock.

Also he honored the price for me, it you need a pic of the receipt send me a PM. Good luck to all!

    • Called the store and said it's an error. Was planning to do a raincheck.

    • +1

if it's scanning at the discounted price then I'm more positive that they shouldn't cancel my order if it was indeed a pricing error.

But it's strange then that ozb user damnair's boss got that pricing error call.

    • hey Aemaethx, can you PM me the receipt just in case? You are not allowing private messages. Thanks.

      • +1
        • Lol well done! I hope you're home safe now so they can't go back on the deal lol

        • @montorola: looks like he just put a deposit on it. They will probably refund his card and give him a call informing of the price error.
