The thing that is shite is that I have perfect credit history but because I’m on a pension thus earning $30k a year minimum I can’t even apply for this. Discrimination much!

    • You shouldn't be buying money on 30K a year.

Also, credit cards lead to higher expenditure in many cases as the goals of tracking and marketing and incentives are realised by the mark.

        Buying money?
I have been very responsible with my money, have no debts and probably save more than the average joe on $50k. I have a perfect credit rating and the point is, no one should dictate to another how they spend their money based on assumptions. The reason for my low income is not idiocy but for debilitating medical condition. That doesn’t mean I’m an irresponsible idiot that expects to own everything now without paying for it. The sole reason I would have had the card was to purchase through it to gain woolworths points. I would have transferred the balance after every transaction. Not that I need to explain that to anyone but I’m happy to explain my hypothetical intention.

  • Does this card support Apple Pay?

    • Late reply but it might help someone else…

Although the issuer (Macquarie Bank) does support Apple Pay, Woolworths-branded credit cards are not supported.

If you call and ask about Apple Pay support for such a card, customer service may initially claim that it is supported though. I'm guessing this happens because Macquarie-branded debit and credit cards are in fact supported.

A word of caution, I have never been rejected for credit cards (dozens of them), however I was rejected by Woolworths, Macquarie was the card provider.
I'll not be applying for their card again.

    • Does being rejected negatively affect your credit score, or some other aspect of your life?

      • It does impact your score, yes. However it is much more complicated than that.

      • Currently, it only shows that you made an application. It doesn't show if it was rejected or approved and/or accepted. Comprehensive credit reporting, which is coming soon, will change this, however, as active credit cards will be reported along with repayment history.

FYI Guys, you can use the 10% off on Opal card top ups every month!

    • can anyone else speak to this? I assumed this would be one of the excluded items

      • +2

I've done this for a year now with no issues across multiple stores. It's the only reason why I keep this card. It is weird going upto them to to top up 3 opal cards at $200+ each.

That's great to hear! However I was wondering about one point - it says to get the 10% discount on the first shop on the selected weekend each month, two things need to happen:
          1) You need to scan the barcode at the back of the WW CC
          2) You need to pay with the WW CC itself

What I was wondering was, is No. 2 actually required? Or can you pay by eGift Card or any other payment method? I'm guessing the way it's set up, is that the 10% discount is tied to your WWR number (which is tied to your WW CC account hence providing the info to give you a 10% discount), but that paying with your WW CC is not required.
The reason I ask is that my WW CC right now has a balance transfer on it, hence I'm not touching it for spending, rather just paying it off over time.

          Cheers!

Very comfortable income. Only a couple of credit cards with low credit limit.
    Still denied.
    Bastards.

    • Same story for myself. Dammit

  • A bit of a turn off that they don't offer double reward points like Coles.

    • This is stated on the website

Seems you get 3x, 2x and 1x depending on what you purchase.

3)Points are subject to the Woolworths Shopping Card Rewards Program Terms and Conditions. 3 points earned for every $1 spent on Woolworths Select and Woolworths brand range of products purchased in-store at Woolworths Supermarkets. 2 points earned for every $1 spent on products purchased at Woolworths Supermarkets, BIG W, CALTEX WOOLWORTHS co-branded fuel outlets, BWS, Dan Murphy’s, and Cellarmasters. 1 point earned for every $1 spent on other eligible purchases. Points are not earned on cash advances, balance transfers or other restricted transactions detailed in the Woolworths Shopping Card Rewards Program Terms and Conditions. Every 4 months, points are automatically converted to a Woolworths Money Shopping Card redeemable at participating Woolworths Group stores. Participating stores may change from time to time. The Shopping Card is currently not accepted at DVD vending machines, mobile EFTPOS terminals and some CALTEX WOOLWORTHS co-branded fuel outlets. Minimum of 4,000 points is required to receive a $20 Shopping Card.

  • Got denied as well, sent an email to those guys hopefully they will reconsider my application

A definite negative is that the 10% off only seems to happen on selected dates - so the credit card issuer/Woolies nominates a date range, and you get the 10% discount during that time only. It says "10% discount offer applies to existing Woolworths Credit Card holders who make a purchase (i) at any Woolworths Supermarket between 12:01am (AEST) of the selected Saturday and 11:59pm (AEST) of the selected Sunday for that month".

What seems bad is that this mostly likely is a just a single weekend (48 hours), which sucks. I don't mind being given a week in which to shop, so it could be 9 days (Sat, sun, mon, tues, wed, thurs, fri, sat, sun) … but I that seems unlikely, especially if Macquarie Bank is involved. The weekend is IMHO the worst time to shop, it's often the busiest time inside the supermarket, parking can be a nightmare, plus I have relaxing and fun stuff that I want do on the weekend instead of shopping chores.

Is anyone who already has this card able to give some idea of how long the selected date range usually is?

    • I was just about to post the same concern. I think they would offer it on random weekends, i.e. last weekend of one month, first weekend of next month.

The post heading should be edited to exclude "10% off 1st Shop Each Month" as it is incorrect/misleading. Maybe it should be 10% off one shop per month on selected dates?? (Primary Cardholders will be notified via email prior to commencement of the Offer Period.)

  • 20000 WR points, does this mean that you have to spend over $100 for the points to apply to the shop?

applying… 60 seconds to know my fate.

I can confirm that 10% can be used towards Opal recharge and mobile vouchers (amaysim in my case).

10% discount applies once during the designated weekend (usually second weekend of the month) on your first scan of rewards card.

You actually don't have to pay with Woolworths credit card, you can still use your regular credit card (with frequent flyer points, amex, etc) or use egift card.
Since payment system does not know which card you going to use to pay, but it needs to know what amount to charge, discount is applied as soon as you scan rewards card and proceed to payment step.

I shop weekly and when I get this offer (usually email on Wednesday), I plan my biggest shop on upcoming weekend and stock various long-shelf-life products and goods on sale.
When you pay for your grosseries, don't forget to ask cashier or assistant to transfer your transaction to the 'opal recharge' register to have single purchase. On the same 'opal recharge' register you ask cashier to add mobile recharge vouchers.

So far, over last 4 months I saved in total around $100 this way.

    • charge, discount is applied as soon as you scan rewards card and proceed to payment step.

Can you scan your normal rewards card or use iPhone or do you have to scan the one on the back of the credit card?

      • I scanned from my 'storcard' app, but it can be any app that can render barcode.
Providing that your Woolworths credit card is linked to the same rewards card that you use in store, the bar code printed on the back of the credit card will be identical, so it does not matter what source of barcode is used.

Usually, 'opal recharge' registers are equipped with scanner that can handle barcodes from smart-phones.
Worse comes to worst, you can always ask staff to enter the reward card number manually (for example when barcode has rubbed off your physical card but numbers are still legible).

    • omg…are you serious? i can pay with egift cards after? i thought the tc says you need to scan and pay with the card but when i see the pos, the discount is already applied after rewards card scan…never realised.

    • Thanks for confirming this:

It's exactly what I was wondering!

This weekend is the 10% off weekend for WW :)
Silly me though, I went this morning and bought a few things, and didn't use my WWR card :(

Got declined, never had an issue applying for CC. I have a few cards but decent income and good credit score.

Anyone got the email to notify when the 10% off is period is ? I’m going to do a huge opal top up for my family and pay using 5% off gift cards

    • +1

Just missed it. It was this weekend that just passed.

      • Didn't even get an email about it?

  • +1

Just realized that WW Money app allows paying bills via BPAY so I can even pay my rent or even my other card bills without being charged anything extra. I looked up their doc and found that bpay would be purchasr and not a cash advance. Sweet!

    • Does that mean you can use this credit card to pay other credit card bills without extra fees ?

    • +1

The biller has to accept credit card as payment. None of the credit cards can be paid via bpay using another credit card. I'd also be surprised if you can pay your rent with a credit card as well since accepting this as payment cost the biller extra.
