Gigabyte K7 RGB Cherry MX Red Mechanical Keyboard $79 @ PCBYTE eBay

Extra 10% in checkout on top of code. This seems way too cheap. Customisable RGB keyboard with MX switches for only $79 is ridiculous.

MX switches aren't the best. Alternatives such as gateron and outaemu are better. Don't be tricked, with cherry mx blah blah. Also tkl is a better format for some. There are some great keyboards on banggood. PM me for any advice.

    • +5

Could you please post the advice here. Would like to know what other options are better on bangood.

      Thanks

      • What kind of switch do you like? Do you need the num pad? Do you prefer wireless. Do you need the function keys?

        • As a TKL, what do you think of the CM Storm Quickfire TK? (Browns)

      • +1

This deal is better than the ones on banggood considering you get local warranty and support. Cherry MX switches are better regarded than outemu (but worse than gateron) so its all personal preference.

      • +1

His advice seems terrible if he's claiming gateron and oat .. whatsit are better.

    • starting researching TKL keyboards the other day, but there are so many to pick from.

Any recommendations for a cabled TKL with function keys. Probably after a red or brown switch

      thanks!

Some really nice switches and rgb lights if you want them.

A great keyboard reviewer who has some great buy recommendations. He also resides in Australia i belive

        • i'm also going to the US in a few weeks for work, would it be worthwhile ordering something from Amazon/newegg?

        • @impoze: You won't save too much, buying from them, but make sure to know what if you really want rgb lights. And how much you care about build quality.

        • @SimpleRoger: cool, are most of the LED controls built into the keyboard or do I have to install an app?

        • +1

@impoze: Good luck installing an app from a chinese manufacturer (probably built in keyboard)

        • @impoze: Built in.

        • @SimpleRoger:

Are these switches the loud or quiet ones?

          Thanks.

        • @hughar: You can choose, red is quiet blue is loud. Also there is the heaviness of the switch that is how much weight is required to press it down. Red is super light, black is heavy. Black's i prefer.

      • If you can get your hands on a Vortex KBT ONI TenKeyLess Mechanical Keyboard you won’t be disappointed.

Also WASD make some pretty sweet custom keyboards.

And the Code Keyboard and Das Keyboard.

Massdrop also has reasonable keyboards every now and then.

Look, it’s all based on opinion. Outemus and gaterons aren’t necessarily better, this is still a really good price for a customisable RGB mechanical keyboard from a name brand with warranty.

    • +3

Why are the Gaterons and Outemus better? How are they better? What metric do you use to determine how good a brand of switch is compared to another?

      • -5

Gaterons are smoother, it's the general consensus, and outemus have a better click. Just facts.

This is still a peasant-tier keyboard. Real nerds go for a NIB $300 Model M 1985-1995 Mechanical keyboard from IBM (or just manually recondition a secondhand one themselves). It is the keyboard that all of these wanna-bes are emulating after all. They're well worth the investment as they're built like tanks and feel fantastic.

  • Decent keyboard for the price.
Heaps of options around this price but they're all mainly from overseas so the aus warranty is a plus here.

I didn't think I was going to become a keyboard enthusiast, after my last purchase (logitech) I realised that I'm not a good enough typer to use any old board. Its not their fault, its a cheap board. I think highly of their mice.

Here I go with a purchase I wasn't planning on until I saw the deal. +1.

  • I watched a review (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44g8lk2IEzY&t=155s&ab_channe…) and he said the keyboard was great with one problem, that being that the metal backplate isn't properly smoothed at the corners and he got cut picking it up. Just something to be careful about when buying this. But despite that, the keyboard is great value

Also, I'm getting $80.91 as the final price after all discounts, not $79

  • Price up to 129! price error?

  • Thanks , brought one . Normally not keen about Gigabyte accessories , Will try this one out to see how gigabyte now .

Normally not keen about Gigabyte accessories

Well then username does not checkout. But anyway where did you bring the keyboard to?

      • This is Cherry MX red, I try to use it in the office .

  • Anyone got there keyboard?
I bought in April 30 and still hasn't arrived yet

    • I got mine in next 2-3 days .
