OW will take postage costs in their price match

    • Computer Alliance have a store.
So Office Works matched it for me and I bought one for 189.05.
Not sure how to upload a receipt here.

      • Computer Alliance have a store.

All well and good if you're in QLD, useless anywhere else (unless you got a staff member who didn't take postage costs into account from another state)

You might have just got lucky with someone who didn't know what they were doing

        • ;) thx, yeah maybe lucky

Potentially add that OW might only price match in Brisbane then, and potentially only within a certain distance. I know this is the case when price matching them with Umart, MSY etc also. Not sure what store policy is - but they definitely don't all do it.

        • +2

The price beat guarantee only says that they have to have at the one physical store, somewhere in Australia in order to price beat, regardless of where in Australia it is located. I brought a Google Wifi unit from OW a few months ago, and got them to price beat some obscure NSW electronics store with only one physical retail outlet.

        • @melbourne guy: Good to know the policy - they don't all follow it from experience though.

        • @melbourne guy:

Yeah. Can be anywhere in Australia, but the should (and generally will) factor postage into the price.

Some staff get it wrong, majority don't

        • @Spackbace: I was always under the impression that OW only factor postage into the price beat if you’re price beating an online only store. Maybe I got lucky, but their policy doesn’t state that you can’t match a store that is too far away, like Dan Murphy’s policy does (they have a 10km limit)

      • You can upload a receipt with any identifying details crossed out on imgur or some other free image hosting service then link to it in the body of your post. Be sure to have store details, item details and $$$ in focus.

  • Can anyone vouch for this printer?

    • Good printer but lately got drop out from wifi quite often. Very annoying 😐

    • I have one and it’s great. No wifi drop outs.
      Duplex scanner is useful

One slight inconvenience about this model vs the previous one is that it requires a chipped toner.
If you want to use third party toner, you'll have to transfer the chip over.

    • +1

Just refill the original cartridge. Not sure why people bother with third party cartridges when refilling them is cheaper and produces better results.

      • +1

Can you tell me where to buy the refill? I never done this before! Thanks.

I bought the 2740 a year ago and had OW price match it. They factored in shipping costs and ended up paying only $200.17

I don't know about this model, but I've been quite happy and satisfied with mine. EXCEPT for one detail that gives me the (*&#$ on very rare specific circumstances. Somehow, Brother, in all their wisdom, decides to make the total scan-able area a a few millimetres smaller than A4??!!! WITH an extra millimetre lost if using the auto-document feeder??!!! I've already talked to support and have been made to understand that these were made by design. Ugh. God knows why. But like I said, it only bothers me in the very specific instance where what I'm scanning has text all to the edges. Otherwise, it prints and scans and works like a champ.

I don't know of the chip in the toner, hopefully mine doesn't have one.

    • +1

I have the 2740 as well, works like a champ, thanks for letting us know the rare issue! Didn't know that before

    • From what I saw this is the new model of the 2740
Will watch out for the problem you have noted. Thanks

  • Any specials on the toners?
